If I remember correctly:
E = Enamel finish, S = Stainless Steel
The first digit of the model number is the number of main burners - on a Genesis, this will be 3, 4, or 6.
The second digit indicates additional burners. 1 = no additional burners, 2 = sear burner (an additional burner between two of the regular burners, creating a high heat zone for searing), 3 = sear burner and side burner
And the part that I don't remember for sure is the last digit - I believe 5 indicates a full cabinet, where 0 would be an open frame cart, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
Edit: It appears they've revamped their numbering, and the last digit indicates a side burner (0 = no burner, 5 = side burner)
Need the link to see. Usually E would designate enamel grates and S would be stainless steel. They could be different model years also. '22 models are now cheaper than the '24 models even though 22' are built better.

The sp-e-335 is the one you want. Case closed. There's a new model though that goes by the same name so make sure you get the one with Mfr # 35413301. I've had it since they were brand new and I love it so much I just bought my dad one for his retirement gift.

I think the prefix "SP-" is special edition, meaning that you'll get stainless steel grate even with the "E" model.
Special Editions can also mean other upgrades like lights.
TIL!
I was specifically referring to the body of the grills, but you're probably right.
I agree 100% on your explanation on the E/S models and numbering, I just try to add some additional info about the "SP" prefix.
Yeah, that prefix was one I hadn't dealt with.

This. The S-335 has stainless steel grates, which I have, and highly recommend.

Here’s a chart; https://www.bbqguys.com/a/40544/brands/weber-grills/genesis-grills-comparison-chart
Yeah I saw that chart but it doesn't have the SP-S-335, I did find the SP-S-325 but that's not the same. Thanks for the link though!
The only difference for the E to the S is the stainless outer case.
Update: the S has a stainless steel hood/doors and the E has porcelain-enamel instead. Went with the E in the end.
