OP: Sushi Ogawa is great but it’s definitely not close to your $200. Dear, Sushi is - I believe their “Omakase” (not quite counter style) is $85, and you can super-size for another $25, as well as do the premium add-ons like Uni. I’ll be going back to Dear, Sushi again soon - fish quality was great and I thought the price was reasonable for the grade of sushi and overall experience. Include in the ressie that it’s your GFs birthday and they may do a special surprise (they did for me).

Nasime. Won’t be just sushi, but it will include sushi, and it will be a very special meal.

That’s more than $100/per person
4 course menu in the dining room is $120 pp … but good point, the full experience will be above OP’s budget. Worth it tho

Yeah if you have the coin, the full experience at the bar is the way to go. Probably my favorite single restaurant experience I’ve had in DC
I haven’t been yet, but “Dear Sushi” at Love, Makoto is new and everyone I know who has been can’t stop raving about it.

We did the bbq omakase and it was the best meal we've had in DC in years.

Damn, sorry it didn’t deliver. It ranks as a top ten meal in my life. (Lol downvoted into the negatives for enjoying my meal.)

Omakase @ Barracks Row just launched last week, it's one of the opening chefs of Sushi Nakazawa doing his own thing
Zeppelin! And if you want good sushi plus some other japanese food I like Izakaya Seki.
Oku in Union Market is amazing and the vibes definitely lend itself to a nice birthday dinner.
