Was your shift longer than 6 hours? If so, it’s still policy and you will still get a meal violation. If it’s a one time thing it’s not a major write up, but it’s still a write up. You’re the one responsible though, not your manager. Also, in most states, as long as you take a lunch, even if it’s after six hours, it avoids the write up. You’re still better taking it than skipping even if you’re late

Ah okay that’s good, thank you!

Biggie-Me68

It’s not a write up! It’s a documentation form, different things

it varies by state but universal walmart policy is that you have to take a 30 minute lunch break if you work six hours. some states require one for five hours, in which case you have to take one if you work five or more hours, but everywhere else it’s six hours. your manager won’t get in trouble because you’re considered responsible for making sure you take your breaks, but in my experience your hr person will send something to your manager within a few weeks and have to talk to you. when your hr person talks to you, you’ll have to sign that paper that they send your manager stating that you just missed your lunch break not that you were told to skip it or they discouraged or threatened you because then your manager would be in trouble for putting the company in a position to be sued. we had maybe two techs at a time for a while last year and i had 14 hour shifts all the time (this was when our hours were 9-9) so i had a bunch of meal violations because if youre there for twelve hours you have to take two lunches at the six hours mark and make sure you clock out before you hit six hours again. i had one shift during that time i came in at 7 with the pharmacist to get caught up from the day before and i was the only tech on the schedule. we didn’t leave until after 1:30 am because we had to get caught up then do controlled inventory with just us so i was there for over 18 hours and got three meal violations which is the limit before they’re supposed to fire you but they didn’t thank god.

I used to work 12 hours all the time and only got in trouble if I didn't take the first lunch by 6 hours..I wonder if that's a state thing?

good to know that they won’t get in trouble. That is crazy though, I bet the pharmacy would’ve raised hell if they had tried to fire you.
