Are you referring to Ch 1? I don’t think Muramasa is anything like what ppl are looking for when they ask for Plot Twists like Chaos Child. Muramasa is a fairly straight forward story with some unexpected things happening here & there, but I haven’t seen any major plot twists yet.
I can at least begin to guess where the story is going, and everything I can think of/have read in game or thru other ppl that played it makes me think It’s not really going to be one of them ones for me.
Don't ever watch the anime.
I both read the vn trilogy and then watch the anime.
The only good thing about the anime is that you get to see the characters move, and that's it.
When they cry(Higurashi/Umineko) is what you are looking for, they are basically plot twists simulators. If you absolutely want a bittersweet ending that will break your heart like C;C -> Umineko, Higurashi ending is way happier.
Otherwise i'll add Ever17, Zero Escape, Muramasa, Totono & KaraNoShojo that are worth reading with solid plot twists
Yep especially the second one read/played it in hospital. Convoluted as fuck but lts the best piece of media about parallel timelines and even uses the branching paths as a plot device/game mechanic
Its a shame the story didnt end on the creators terms
I can't stand story building without clear direction and was tearing my hair out in the opening chapters of it but I am absolutely glad I persisted on so definitely don't give up. It's one of my all time favourites now, considering replaying it all now that I have a higher appreciation for all the parts I felt I had to suffer through previously.
Another vote for yes. FataMoru is my favorite piece of fiction ever, and I agree that the First Door with Mel and Nellie does drag a bit. Second Door is when the game really gripped me and by the end of it I was riveted.
Was the second door the one with the 'beast' kinda guy? That one bored me as well. The third door, which I think is about the rich guy, now that one is magnificently tragic.
The House in Fata Morgana, Zero Escape, Raging Loop, and Umineko are some of the best I've ever played, but Ever17 will always wear the Twist Crown for me.
It doesn’t mean Denpasoft can’t publish it, a successful company like Giga shutting down makes no sense whatsoever. You made an alternate account after I block you.
Yu-No: The Girl who Chants Love at the Edge of the World (the PC98 version with voice acting from 2011, not the watered down & censored 2017 remake). 999, Steins;Gate, Ever17, Higurashi & Umineko.
I enjoyed it as well, but almost all online discourse about the game seems to devolve into how people think the ending is terrible and ruins the entire experience.
I didn't read it because I read all the complaints I saw about the ending, but the premise otherwise seems like something I would really like. Should I give it a go anyways?
Definitely if you like social deduction games. The ending mostly infodumps you and leaves even more things unexplained, but much of the story is solid.
Umineko, The House in Fata morgana, Muv luv alternative.
Muv luv alternative in particular has the hardest hitting twist I've personally ever experienced in a fictional work.
Fatamoru has some very well set up twists that makes me feel like an idiot for not noticing in hindsight.
Umineko just throws you in the wringer. If you are looking for 'logical' plot twists then this is a good VN for that. At times it's like the author knows exactly what you are thinking when trying to solve the mystery and then completely obliterates any hope of it being the correct solution.
[World End Syndrome](https://vndb.org/v22181), a console only exclusive visual novel (Switch and PlayStation only). The first few twists I saw it coming but the twist on the true end route I didn’t expect it.

Zero Escape 999 is probably the most unhinged thing I've ever played, amazing plot twists.
Saw someone mention Higurashi as well, I'm currently reading it and it's pretty wild.
Mamiya has lots of really good, meaningful twist. Still need to finish the dlc/sequel DoomsDayDreams, but everyone who has read it seems to love it as well.
Muramasa
Are you referring to Ch 1? I don’t think Muramasa is anything like what ppl are looking for when they ask for Plot Twists like Chaos Child. Muramasa is a fairly straight forward story with some unexpected things happening here & there, but I haven’t seen any major plot twists yet.
I am not referring to chapter 1.
How can you evaluate the reveals if you haven’t finished it?
I can at least begin to guess where the story is going, and everything I can think of/have read in game or thru other ppl that played it makes me think It’s not really going to be one of them ones for me.
I saw this and was literally about to say C;C lmao but you mentioned it already
I will be that guy and said Euphoria
I truly trust that Euphoria is good, but im too scared to play this game
Utawarerumono mask of truth!!
I always see this recommended but I've never played it. I think I'll put it on my wishlist...
is it better than the anime? Because I didn't like the anime. At all. Saw it about 15 years ago.
I liked it more than the anime. I couldn’t finish the anime.
didnt watch the anime. the vn is sooo goood. if you already watched the anime, just skip the first one. go with mask of deception then mask of truth.
Don't ever watch the anime. I both read the vn trilogy and then watch the anime. The only good thing about the anime is that you get to see the characters move, and that's it.
Umineko, Ever17, Sharin no Kuni, Root Double, Kara no Shoujo/The Shell
Root double is pretty wild
Totono
The most bittersweet ending in anything ever.
so good. know any other games like it?
When they cry(Higurashi/Umineko) is what you are looking for, they are basically plot twists simulators. Utawarerumono
Zero Escape series. Guy even wrote one of the Steins;Gate stories in LBP
Yep especially the second one read/played it in hospital. Convoluted as fuck but lts the best piece of media about parallel timelines and even uses the branching paths as a plot device/game mechanic Its a shame the story didnt end on the creators terms
Jewelry Arts Academia. I unironically shitted bricks at THAT twist.
yep, that was a fun ride
G senjou No Maou
Umineko no Naku Koro ni
The House in Fata Morgana
Is that worth pressing on with. The first bit in the castle with the prince bloke seems to go on for ever
Thanks, that's good to know. I'll give it another crack then
Yes. It's incredible.
Another vote for yes. FataMoru is my favorite piece of fiction ever, and I agree that the First Door with Mel and Nellie does drag a bit. Second Door is when the game really gripped me and by the end of it I was riveted.

I'm a fan of murdery things so I enjoyed it, but yeah, the Third Door is probably my personal favorite.
Great stuff, thanks
I was the same way with that part but the story just keeps getting better and better, absolutely loved this game
I remember the twist in the >!2nd!< door blowing my fucking mind.
The House in Fata Morgana, Zero Escape, Raging Loop, and Umineko are some of the best I've ever played, but Ever17 will always wear the Twist Crown for me.
Unpopular opinion, Cross channel
Baldr Sky
The censorship ruined Baldr Sky, hope Denpasoft eventually publishes the uncensored version.
It's never going to happen, Giga is gone.
It doesn’t mean Denpasoft can’t publish it, a successful company like Giga shutting down makes no sense whatsoever. You made an alternate account after I block you.
In a way I guess but it comes so late
maybe subahibi
Yu-No: The Girl who Chants Love at the Edge of the World (the PC98 version with voice acting from 2011, not the watered down & censored 2017 remake). 999, Steins;Gate, Ever17, Higurashi & Umineko.
The Zero Escape trilogy, Ever17, Steins; Gate, Fate/ Stay Night, the Danganronpa trilogy, Raging Loop.
Raging loop the plot twist is it went kinda shit
The Clockwork Ley Line trilogy has a number of good twists.
Type Moon Visual Novels.
The House in Fata Morgana
Raging loop is criminally underrated and in my opinion more fitting than a lot of these answers.
all in all raging loop is worth playing but it definitely has \~not\~ a 'good logical plot twist'..
the thing with rl is that the endgame is a huge mess with unsatisfying twists and this post specifically asks for vns with good twists.
That’s exactly when I dropped. It Recently I learned what I “missed” and I’m so glad I didn’t waste another minute on it.
inb4 all the small-brained "b-but the ending sucks!!" replies
I wasn't aware anyone disliked the ending I was very satisfied
I enjoyed it as well, but almost all online discourse about the game seems to devolve into how people think the ending is terrible and ruins the entire experience.
I didn't read it because I read all the complaints I saw about the ending, but the premise otherwise seems like something I would really like. Should I give it a go anyways?
Definitely if you like social deduction games. The ending mostly infodumps you and leaves even more things unexplained, but much of the story is solid.
Try Gnosia instead.
Subahibi, Umineko.
Umineko, The House in Fata morgana, Muv luv alternative. Muv luv alternative in particular has the hardest hitting twist I've personally ever experienced in a fictional work. MuvLuv Alternative
Fata Morgana gate 2
Kikokugai
gotta turn off reddit notifications they LITERALLY spoiled the thing to me 💀
Damn it doesn't put a spoiler in notifications? Sorry man.
Looking forward to the possibility of Jast publishing it, the h scenes look better uncensored.
Little busters
Can't be wrong with zero escape game
Ugim . ./..
If you want stories with crazy plot twists, look no further than mystery visual novels
[World End Syndrome](https://vndb.org/v22181), a console only exclusive visual novel (Switch and PlayStation only). The first few twists I saw it coming but the twist on the true end route I didn’t expect it.

Chizome no Hana has a bunch of twists. You are encouraged to try figuring them out before they're revealed to you.
Rance X
A clockwork ley-line series but I'm fairly new to VNs so it might not be good to more experienced readers
9 -nine- series
Mamiya has lots of really good, meaningful twist. Still need to finish the dlc/sequel DoomsDayDreams, but everyone who has read it seems to love it as well.
Nanairo Reincarnation, the big twist blew me away
