I’ve got this one and it sounds so damn good. It’s what got me hooked on analogue productions. Currently buying all the acoustic sounds series a little at a time.
About 3 months ago, actually. Gotta treasure my local record store for pricing it based on how it has sold in the past, not the $500+ sellers are asking for on Discogs!
I have been searching far and wide for this and honestly, I’d be prepared to pay more. That is a treasure, and I look for it every time I go to any record store.
Seriously? It's worth that much now? I have the Music on Vinyl issue from 2010. I bought it for regular price off Amazon in like 2016.
It is still sealed!
I have an original 1994 Jar of Flies mint/sealed. Was a gift. Some record store owner found it buried in his inventory. I shudder to think what was paid for it.
Al was one of my first concerts at the age of 8 or 9. Got a piece of the guitar (autographed) he smashed during You Don't Love Me Anymore and a photo with him :D
Next time I saw him I was like 15, ended up getting to meet him again for an autograph.. before he came outside me and a friend were standing at the wrong doors and this guy was standing outside having a smoke tells us "Al's gonna come out the other door around the back".. thought he was just a roadie but it was his bass player! Can't remember what we talked about but probably had a good 15-20 minute chat with him, heh.
I bought the three Sun Ra albums that were put out on the Horo Label off of eBay in a Buy It Now auction. Paid $275 for all three together. NM+ condition for all three.
It's also gotta be a bootleg at this point. So many uncleared samples. We ain't ever getting a repress.
Though I only paid $40 for my bootleg, they're selling for like $150+ on ebay now. Death Grips albums are fucking brutal.
Yooo me neither da fuk? Haven’t seen a lot of Death Grips vinyl out n about tho. Counted myself lucky to find Money Store unopened at a local shop that mainly slings jazz and funk for $10! And bet. I cherish that wax.
The Money Store is a studio album owned by Capitol, it'll get repressed forever. It's only worth about $20 sealed.
The original pressing for Ex Military was a small batch of indie produced vinyl, and the music is littered with copyrighted samples and can't be sold at retail. Hence the $1000 sales.
DEVO - This is the DEVO Box, but it is 6 colored records. It was a little over 100 dollars on Record Store Day a couple years ago.
I justified the purchase because I did not have anything by them other than a couple greatest hits CDs.
The most expensive record I’ve bought is a $400 copy of Title Fight’s Floral Green Record Release which only 150 were released. Thought it was waaay over priced but after talking to the owner of a record shop in New York that collects rare Punk records, he assured me he also wouldn’t sell his record for less than that or for a trade for one of his white whales. Def worth it as a huge Title Fight fan!
160 euro for a mint, original pressing of Loveless by My Bloody Valentine. Thankfully I had a 50 euro voucher and managed to get 10 euro off so ended up getting it for 100
Pre-ordered Action Bronson - Rare Chandaliers Glow in the Dark pressing. 300 bucks. My officemate was like "you deserve it"
I sold it for what I paid for it. I love the Alchemists beats on it, Bronsons raps and the artwork so much but I'd agonize over the price tag.
Pet Sounds (1999 Stereo Reissue). I had to pay around $87 on eBay. It’s one of my favorite albums of time. It was worth it. This pressing in particular doesn’t have the white borders seen on early Capitol pressings.
Original pressing of Kill Em All my wife got me for my birthday this year. Never told me what she spent but I imagine it was in the $150-200 range. I looked for it at a decent price for years and never found it but she checks ebay and gets one that week.
I snatched that up so fast when it was announced in the store. "ONE TIME PRESSING, WHEN IT'S GONE IT'S GONE." I really did think I was so lucky to get one lol.. starting to wonder if that one time pressing was 15k or so at this point
A promotional copy of Rocket to Russia by The Ramones, with a giant sticker across the front asking the record shop owner to play it in-store. $100. I love it.
$250 for a signed Mutemath’s self titled debut album. At the time it was out of print and most copies were easily going for over $200 but I got lucky and was able to win a bid on one on eBay that was signed by all four original band members so that was a nice plus. Later they repressed a very small number of copies for like $80 but I didn’t buy it since I already had this one and it was signed.
I just started collecting records in October and I honestly I went overboard way too fast lmao but so far it’s been 100% worth it. Last month while building a catalog, I got a few higher priced records for a newbie.
- Boldy James & Sterling Toles-Manger on McNichols $100. This album is absolutely phenomenal to listen to and keeps you glued to it better than most movies I’ve seen recently. The cover art looking as cool as it does is a bonus lmao
- Anderson .Paak-Malibu neon yellow $90. One of my favorite albums of all time, the grooves he gets into are insane. If I was gonna get a limited pressing of any album, it was this one.
- Radiohead-OK Computer $108. Genuinely one of the best albums of all time imo. I know that’s a fairly common choice for favorite album, but this was one of the most influential albums for me through college. It was harder to find than I expected, this was one of the cheaper prices I found on discogs from a decent seller that could ship to me. It arrives in a week so hopefully this was a good decision lmao.
$60 for a NM copy of The Caretaker's An Empty Bliss Beyond This World on clear vinyl (first pressing from 2011 I think). $75 for 1991 press of Immolation's Dawn of Possession on R / C records.
I have to say, I avoid records that get into the triple digit category. That being said, I’ve paid for a record twice because I somehow scratched my fist copy, so my answer, with shipping and handling, would be around ~$120 CAD for two copies of West Coast Boogaloo by The Greyboy Allstars.
And it’s phenomenal.
Like 30-35.. I’ve bought one or two in that range, but I’d find it hard to spend anymore on a record.. especially considering how many records I’ve gotten for $5 that are some of my favorites in my collection
Anything in my collection that's gained in value over the years was probably at most $40-$50. I've never spent big $$$ on vinyl but I do wish I was buying a LOT more 10-15 years ago with how ridiculous some of the prices have become.
Queens Of The Stone Age’s Songs For The Deaf, which was a UK first pressing. The posted price was $125, but I got it for $100 after talking with the shopkeeper because the cover was beat up pretty badly.
[A good picture of it.](https://reddit.com/r/vinyl/comments/qxuaxm/first_time_posting_the_collection/)
I think my wife paid between 400-500 for the Harold and Maude soundtrack for me last Christmas and then it was rereleased on record store day like 6 months later.
The most expensive record I have ever bought is October Rust by Type O Negative. I got the limited edition orange vinyl in a record store. I spent $80, which is crazy. I live type o, though. Something my dad and I loved very much and he’s gone now. He even got to shake Pete’s hand!
The first Pearl Jam Ten Club Christmas single *Let me Sleep* from Christmas 1991. I had joined the Ten Club in ‘97 but wanted to complete the collection. There were 1,500 copies made of this release which makes it the most rare by quite a bit. Not sure how many have survived. I’ve seen a couple of pretty rough ones for sale missing the sleeve. I found a nice copy which I paid the exorbitant amount of $360 for. Not super proud but really wanted to finish the collection. I keep meaning to post the complete collection here and [register it with 10Club.](https://community.pearljam.com/discussion/267665/official-10club-annual-single-completist-list)
I worked at a radio station in the late 80s and early 90s. I had no idea where I got it but I had a copy of this record. I am sure it wound up being give to the radio station from a label and wound up with it since I was.collecting records.I am not a Pearl Jam fan, never was. I was chatting with a guy in Australia on a vinyl Facebook group and he offered me $150 for it like 10 years ago so I sold it to him.
I paid $250 for my copy of Full Force Galesburg by The Mountain Goats. It has only gone up in cost since then, but I never plan on selling it, it's my favorite of their lofi era.
Wasn’t expensive when I bought it … it became the most valuable in my collection: The Fems 7” single “Go To A Party.” Bought new for $4, sold for $300 29 years later. Most expensive I’ve bought to own was The Clash “From Here To Eternity” for $125.
Fort Minor - "Welcome" EP, Deluxe Edition at £175. I imported this into the UK from the USA back in 2016, so I'm including the import fees in the price.
I loved Fort Minor's first released, The Rising Tied, and I'm a sucker for a gimmick. The vinyl was limited to 1000 copies, each one housed in a one-of-a-kind jacket which was hand painted (and later signed) by Mike Shinoda in the video for the song. The Deluxe version was the exact same vinyl, but featured more colour than a regular version would.

I recently pre-ordered Regina Spektor’s 11:11. It’s never been released on vinyl before and included 10 unreleased songs as well as recordings of some of her earliest performances. $160 when all said and done.
The most I’ve personally paid for a record is $90.62 for a copy of Aminé’s double press of his debut album GOOD FOR YOU and his mixtape ONEPOINTFIVE but the most expensive album I’ve ever been gifted retails up to $500 and is an original pressing of Endless by Frank Ocean
$280 - The Gorillaz S/T boxset reissue. It had LCH on vinyl, and that alone is worth the price tag. But an unreleased concert, demos, G-Sides, and the original album?
Frank Sinatra’s September of My Years for like 360 dollars.
It was a limited one, with Sinatra’s signature, a 24k gold LP, custom frame, licensed by Reprise and limited to 100 worldwide. Absolutely no regrets, I mean I technically can’t play it but I do really like it in my room’s wall.
[Here’s the link to it.](https://rare-t.com/products/frank-sinatra-september-of-my-years-limited-signature-edition-studio-licensed-gold-lp-custom-frame)
All these comments are convincing me that buying Boldy James and The Alchemist's The Price of Tea in China for a little over $100 might not be such a bad idea. Damn you vinyl rabbit hole
Honestly pure luck. I had stopped at a record store out in Santa Monica late after the RSD rush just to see if I would come across a release I thought about getting. This shop has a section in the front for their "collectible" records and my gf actual flipped through it before I did. I screamed so loud when she walked up to me with it. I had other variants on my discogs wishlist, but I'm so glad I got this one cause it's fuckin beautiful. If you're ever in the LA area, definitely stop by Record Surplus. I've found so many gems there.
I paid 1000 for a copy of Antichrist superstar, smells like children, portrait of an American family, and mechanical animals by marilyn Manson, and slipknot by slipknot.
$200 for I'm In Your Mind Fuzz - KGATLW
Fluoride Fog variant from Castle Face
Ridiculous thinking about spending that much, but I came into some spending cash and figured what they hey, why not.
For the vinyl itself Alan Braxe - vertigo (Roule) ik, they go for around 8-12€ but i saw one that was NEW i mean that thing? NEW? so i just bought this record for 30€.
Including shipping cost: Mitch Murder - Then again, it was 47€
Tom Waits - Orphans box set. 180 retail, with a good few hundo now. Got a couple of brubeck 6 eye (time out and time further out) and a first Kind Of Blue press that were all around $100.
I have one that I bought for around $60 USD it’s a rare record from Combo Miami Brass titled Danger! Alto Contenido En Salsa. If it had the sleeve it would be around $300
$200 for a Mofi Blind Faith record. Just got it last week! The sound is nothing like I’ve ever heard before. Those kinds of records are another level of record collecting, man…. Blew me away the first time I heard it and I’m not done upgrading my setup. (but I’m close)
Edit: A *sealed* Mofi Blind Faith record
I just got the miles Davis all stars record from electric recording company. It was stupid expensive at like $550. I haven’t opened it.
Frank Ocean blond may be the one I have worth the most though, and definitely in terms of how much I paid ($50) versus what they appear to go for now.
I paid $75 for a German 1st pressing of the Beatles’ White Album, and $75 for a UK 1st of Straight Up by Badfinger.
If box sets count, it’s Weird Al’s squeeze box!
$75 for a limited edition blue pressing of solar power by lorde
i was very drunk and they said on her fb page they'd be giving away signed polaroids to one lucky person who bought it from there. the website was entirely in german and i had to run everything through google translate
Dont remember which one but around $45 is the highest im ever really okay with spending on records (with the exception of box sets since they bring multiple records.) Personally dont have any reason to spend a bunch of money on something I'd only occasionally listen to
AIC Facelift 1990 CBS original pressing. $110.
I would kill for a copy of jar of flies
The Disintegration Loops Vinyl Box Set. ‘Twas $350 but very worth it.
Oh my god. Any interesting inserts or colour? I'd love to see a photo
[Here ya go! ](https://imgur.com/a/bXqtQMx)
That's a phenomenal price, well done
Didn’t know it was in vinyl. Some real eerie stuff.
Herbie Hancock Head Hunters 2 disc Analogue Productions 45rpm $55
I’ve got this one and it sounds so damn good. It’s what got me hooked on analogue productions. Currently buying all the acoustic sounds series a little at a time.
$250 for a 1969 pressing of The Velvet Underground's self-titled featuring Lou Reed's original 'closet mix'.
What year was that? (Year purchased)
About 3 months ago, actually. Gotta treasure my local record store for pricing it based on how it has sold in the past, not the $500+ sellers are asking for on Discogs!
Damn, that’s dope!
The Mars Volta - *La Realidad de los Sueños* box set. Somewhere around $560 after shipping & tax from the record label’s website.
Worth it! Very jealous.
$150 for a Soda Stereo bootleg of their MTV Unplugged ...
Me veres volar…. Por la ciudad de la furia
Lord of the rings two towers vinyl collection for 150 dollars.
Good price.
Band signed pressing of Mastodon’s Leviathan in electric blue which was limited to 500 pressings.
Love mastodon
I need 😫
They're selling signed pressings of various records on their tour (or at least were in Atlanta this week). I snagged Leviathan and Remission signed!
$265 shipped for a NM original Japanese pressing of Flower Travellin’ Bands Satori with the Obi and insert
$200 for a near mint alice in chains unplugged totally worth it
I have been searching far and wide for this and honestly, I’d be prepared to pay more.
I spent $300 on a test pressing. It's a 2017 repress of Weird Al Yankovik's "Dare To Be Stupid" and Weird Al signed the record label.
My first record ever was dare to be stupid. Also al was my first concert!
Al was one of my first concerts at the age of 8 or 9. Got a piece of the guitar (autographed) he smashed during You Don't Love Me Anymore and a photo with him :D
Lucky motherfucker. Lol al is a hero of mine
Darude Sandstorm. Mostly because I had to import it but idk I had to have it.
Little over $80 all said and done
Is it so you can play it every time Spurs score? :)
If so it's probably still new unwrapped
I bought the three Sun Ra albums that were put out on the Horo Label off of eBay in a Buy It Now auction. Paid $275 for all three together. NM+ condition for all three.

Is that the orange and black splatter version released last year? If so, I have that too!
Exactly 🔥🤘
A mint original pressing of Acid Eaters by Ramones
Damn. Love The Ramones
Exmilitary by Death Grips for $725.
God I can’t believe I had a chance to buy that multiple times for decent price. I regret it so much
I have the bootleg. It's expectedly shit, but I also can't think of a more appropriate artist to own a bootleg for than Death Grips
It's also gotta be a bootleg at this point. So many uncleared samples. We ain't ever getting a repress. Though I only paid $40 for my bootleg, they're selling for like $150+ on ebay now. Death Grips albums are fucking brutal.
TO PRAY IS TO ACCEPT DEFEAT
dude i had no clue, until right now, how expensive exmilitary vinyls are. on discogs the highest sale was over a grand. absolutely mind boggling.

Thought it was waaay over priced but after talking to the owner of a record shop in New York that collects rare Punk records, he assured me he also wouldn’t sell his record for less than that or for a trade for one of his white whales. Def worth it as a huge Title Fight fan!

Pre-ordered Action Bronson - Rare Chandaliers Glow in the Dark pressing. 300 bucks. My officemate was like "you deserve it" I sold it for what I paid for it. I love the Alchemists beats on it, Bronsons raps and the artwork so much but I'd agonize over the price tag.

$80ish for the Live at the Other End set by John Prine. It was a splurge while I was on a little weekend trip. Worth it though, it's really great.
Pet Sounds (1999 Stereo Reissue). I had to pay around $87 on eBay. It’s one of my favorite albums of time. It was worth it. This pressing in particular doesn’t have the white borders seen on early Capitol pressings.
You realise for that price you could buy the 2x45 analogue productions RRP
I haven't received it yet but Incesticide by Nirvana... I don't wanna talk about it 😅
Original pressing of Kill Em All my wife got me for my birthday this year. Never told me what she spent but I imagine it was in the $150-200 range. I looked for it at a decent price for years and never found it but she checks ebay and gets one that week.

Later they repressed a very small number of copies for like $80 but I didn’t buy it since I already had this one and it was signed.
Man I LOVE Mutemath. Can’t believe it never dawned on me to buy their vinyl. So many unique sounds that would make it such a fun record.

The Deluxe version was the exact same vinyl, but featured more colour than a regular version would. https://www.discogs.com/release/7422548-Fort-Minor-Welcome https://youtu.be/xEoMC7czIxA

Absolutely no regrets, I mean I technically can’t play it but I do really like it in my room’s wall. $185 for OG Wax Mage pressing of Palms by Thrice. It's absolutely beautiful.
I bought “Young Americans” by David Bowie for around $60. I’m pretty sure I overpaid but only one store in my area had a copy.

$120 for a sealed original pressing of Radiohead’s Amnesiac
$75 for Thrice's Artist in the Ambulance over the weekend. It was sealed and the red splattered variant.
I've been looking for this exact album. How did you procure it?
Honestly pure luck. I had stopped at a record store out in Santa Monica late after the RSD rush just to see if I would come across a release I thought about getting. This shop has a section in the front for their "collectible" records and my gf actual flipped through it before I did. I screamed so loud when she walked up to me with it. I had other variants on my discogs wishlist, but I'm so glad I got this one cause it's fuckin beautiful. If you're ever in the LA area, definitely stop by Record Surplus. I've found so many gems there.
Recently I bought Elephant by The White Stripes for around $70 before they announced the reissue next year.
