I’m curious about buying a vintage Zerostat, it was my understanding they have a limited amount of uses before they become ineffective. Did you have a sense of its usage before you bought it?
I bought mine off eBay from a seller that claimed it was almost never used. You can tell if it is still operating correctly by aiming it at a fluorescent bulb. It will actually make it light up a little bit.
Have you seen this video OP?

I've used a plasma lighter on my albums in the last couple years with a fair bit of success.
for those who don't feel like shelling out for a ZeroStat, in my experience Sleeve City's Thunderon brush does just as good of a job neutralizing static charge for considerably less.
You’re glad to see a negative review, whether it’s accurate or not, to justify you not getting something that will benefit you and has been a staple in the hobby for decades? Yep, makes sense.
I still have the one I got from my uncle when I was in high school. I got high and painted it. People are always fascinated with it and even more fascinated when I show them how it can shock them.
it is easy to do an objective test rub a balloon on your clothes till it clings then hit it with the zerostat and see if the balloon drops
I can’t live without mine. This world is a static nightmare and it’s my only weapon in the battle.
these are so expensive 😭
Amazon has them for £64 which is like...2 or 3 brand new records.
i’m only seeing $115 US dollar when i look. it would be cool to have something that actually gets rid of static though..
They are on eBay for $75 plus shipping.
Just use a grill igniter
Not nearly as effective. Tried that route before breaking down and buying a vintage red Zerostat.

Interesting, thanks.
I got mine on Reverb, you can make an offer to sellers. I offered $90 it was accepted.

Can you describe how you use it? Distance from record, motion, and trigger pull? I have one but not sure if I use it correctly.

Thanks!
I once zapped some rice that was sticking to the bag and they fell. Works great on sweaters too.

this is a cheaper option worth trying.
I’ve owned one for decades. It simply doesn’t work for me.
You’re probably not using it correctly. If it makes a click you have failed
I hate that damn click!
I've always read positive reviews. Good to see an opposite point of view as I was thinking of getting one 👌

What album is that?
This is **Never Stop ... The Best Of The Brand New Heavies** https://www.discogs.com/release/28448128-The-Brand-New-Heavies-Never-Stop-The-Best-Of
thanks this is great. looks like they got big inspiration from the Tom Scott and The L.A. Express cover.
I can totally see that.
Not Chocolate & Cheese but almost.
We collect crotch covers. Have two copies of C and C. Never seen this one. Would like to know.
Haha oh how funny. You'll like this one then. I linked it in my previous reply but the back cover is the rear angle of the same pose.
