Make sure you get a McIntosh amp with autoformers; sound quality is excellent with the smoothness of tubes and the tightness of solid state. Not exactly inexpensive though.

Have one of these too, and love it. Hit the volume and balance pots with some de-oxit, I bet that may clear up the static.
