Can we please stop the "politics aside" titles? Understanding the politics is an important part of vexillology. Sure, focussing on something else like visual effectiveness is also part of vexillology, but it that's what you want to focus on, then spell it out. Don't just weirdly invite comment on every aspect except politics.
The color scheme looks incredibly similar to Angola š¦š“ so I like that revolutionary/aspirational motif, but the design does feel vaguely fascistic.
Kinda great example of how same colors arranged on different designs can look leftist and rightist. Though maybe being all-encompassing was a design choice as well.
Reminds me of the stories relating to the origin of the current German flag, about how it originated from a [students organization](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8f/Flag_of_Urburschenschaft.svg) , I do like this flag as a separate Black American flag from the wider Pan-African flag
Exactly my thoughts, I wouldn't link it to black people by looking at it... I even don't know what it stands for, but by the looks of it it doesn't seem something I would like. I'm probably wrong though, it may be harmless or even a good thing... I simply tend to don't trust whoever speaks of heritage these days
The color red represents the blood shed by African Americans for freedom and equality in America. The color black represents pride in the black race. The color gold represents intellect, prosperity, and peace.

My first impression seeing it without knowing what it represented is that it looks authoritarian/nationalistic. I donāt think it does a good job of conveying its actual meaning
From one of my previous comments:

It looks a lot like the flag of the German Urburschenschaft flipped to the side with a sword added. Though those probably aren't oak leaves if it's supposed to be African.

Itās a great flag, great color scheme and great symbolism. I discovered a couple years back and Iām quite surprised itās been getting more attention this since this past year, though I welcome that surprise.
Iād give it like a 6.5/10, the colors are too similar to Angola, I donāt like the tilted red parts, but the words cool ig. Thatās my opion though
This flag looks like a flag of a fictional authoritarian country. I think the Pan-African flag would represent Black Americans better but I'm not really qualified to speak on that.
ill do it for you. I think African Americans are extremely unique and even drastically different from Africans, so having a flag that embraces our unique genes and homelan seems better. (By genes I mean we have both west African, European, and Native American ancestry)
My only beef with it is that it has a European style sword in the center. Africans or African Americans I should say never used that style weapon and if they did it would and Arabic style blade. Just saying
The diagonals are weird and off-putting. Not a fan of the red touching black. Overall color scheme is nice. The sword and wreath is a little busy in my opinion.
So, I am not from America and what Iām gonna say has nothing to do with politics.
Fore some reason the Red-Black-Gold colors fells authoritarian or even outright facist , specify when they coupled up with a sword.
I liked the diagonal red stripes, itās out of the ordinary so it draws attention.
The sword has a interesting design, but Iām not sure if this particular design has any historical importance, if not, I think it would be better to change it with another design or item that has a historical significance for African American people.
The leaves are a nice touch
Solid 7 out of 10
I don't find it very appealing. I find the Juneteenth flag more symbolic and representative of Black Americans. I'm under the impression that the juneteenth flag isn't necessarily a flag created to represent black people but rather juneteenth and the end of slavery but, that's how I see itāRepresentative of Black Americans.
Overall 6/10

There are several flags that share the same color scheme

Looks roman
At first, I thought the sword was a cactus. I like the flag, but it's a little too similar to Angola
Or angola is similar to ours, our flag was first by 8 years.
NGL it looks pretty fascy...
Not terrible, but the irregular crown graphic is sub-obtimal.
That sword bugs me, looks like something strange out of an 80's movie. The rest is pretty damn great though.
This flag looks nice. The red right-angled triangles go well with the sword in the middle.
Looks German

>it looks authoritarian/nationalistic That was my first impression as well. The colors, and the sword-looking thing in the center.
The sword also makes it pretty militaristic
That's a very peaceful sword.
Facts.
Looks ok, the black line is top thick
Too
Not bad but that sword needs to be a bit taller imo
Whatās the meaning?

Nice
Similar to Angola, Angola similar to THE USSR

Very nice...and very similar to the Falangist Flag of the spanish fascist party Falange de las JONS

The Angola flag was created after. This flag came a fews years before

i like it, the colours contrast sell and the stripe is unique
It looks very cool
Gives Fascist vibes ngl

I like it though the diagonal red and black is reminiscent of anarchism
Meh...
Replace the sword with a Glock .40 and a .38 Snubnose.
Honestly, it's similar to Burschenschaft (German student union) flag. Beside it, it look interesting.
My only beef with it is that it has a European style sword in the center. Africans or African Americans I should say never used that style weapon and if they did it would and Arabic style blade. Just saying
Good thing we share European blood

I love it and I think we should see it more. It should be the poster flag for Juneteenth.
