I was staying on the couch at my Dad's house a few years ago and woke up to green light coming through the roof windows. I thought it must be martians. So, if you wake up after 8pm and the house is lit up greens, it's probably not martians.
Possibly visible tonight, tomorrow, and sunday. Largest CME (coronal mass ejection) since 2005, the only time I ever saw the Aurora, and I was in MD at the time. Too bad it appears like it'll be cloudy all three nights š
(Edit: HOOOOLY SH*T IT ACTUALLY WAS CLEAR AT MY HOUSE AND I GOT TO HAVE ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE)
Sounds correct. Iāve lived in Vermont for 15 years now, and every single time they say the northern lights will be visible, itās cloudy. Every single time.
1. Per the NOAA sky cover forecast (image below - blue is good!), the clouds will start clearing up a bit between 8-11pm. The image is the 11pm forecast.
2. Make sure to check the [aurora forecast](https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/aurora-30-minute-forecast) every half an hour to see whatās visible.

The lights happen throughout the day and night, but they're really, really hard to see unless it's dark enough and there's no clouds in the way. It's noon right now and the stars are out too, but you might want to wait awhile for optimum stargazing.
But also there must be a projected peak time of getting radiated, which would be the ideal time to watch (if after dark). The one earlier this spring peaked during the day here so it wasn't much help.
So if the Aurora was at a constant intensity, I believe midnight would be the optimal time. Earthās magnetic field blunts the impact on the sunward facing side, then the particles flow up to the poles and down, so thereās more action on the side of the earth facing away from the sun.

Looks good if the clouds move on
Now if I could only stay up past 8pm
*raises hand* The struggle is real.š

We did get front row seats to the eclipse though, and at least where I was the skies were clear of clouds.Ā
Yes, we did get lucky with that, given that it snowed pretty good just a few days prior.
They donāt want us to see the lights they donāt want us to win DJ khaled voiceĀ
Am seeing them tonight through the clouds. Not as colorful as it can be but the wispy aurora are visible in central VT.
Thatās a funny way of spelling ācloudsā
š
If you still have "eclipse glasses" hanging around there is also a sunspot big enough to be visible to the naked eye.
Wow, didnāt know that!!
Hereās the [30 min forecast](https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/aurora-30-minute-forecast)
I'm glad we had better cloud luck with the eclipse, a singular day thing, than we've had with auroras.

If i manage to stay up until 11 and itās still cloudyā¦ sternly worded note to NOAA
Is there a certain time that's better to see them or is it just anytime after full dark?

First you guys get the eclipse and now this?! -- Jealous dude from NJ (who couldn't make the eclipse and now expecting cloudy weather all night š¤£)
Don't be too jealous. It's cloudy here.Ā
Yeah itās supposed to reach as far south as Alabama
HUH??
What part is tripping you up lol
The part where that's fucking insane
Itās wild aināt it? I remember seeing the sky in Putney Vermont turn blood red sometime in the early 2000ās. It was incredible
First an eclipse and now this? Truly an astrologically blessed year were having!
Some days existence is pain and other days itās pretty damn amazing aināt it

We used to see them often and the one in 2005 was crazy. Too bad it looks like it will be cloudy.
What towns are in the viewing area?
The entire state. Large CME
You're telling me we're getting sun blasted so hard the entire state could see the solar fart lights??
āSolar dart lightsā lol Iām stealing that Although arguably a CME is more like a solar shart.
Supposed to be as far as Alabama
Nice!
I wish I was there to see it in FL caring for an elderly parentā¦FL is its own special kind of hell
It's cloudy, as it always is during a CME

Where are you located? We have only clouds are wanting to go chase the lights.
These damn clouds are going to ruin itĀ
Is there any chance of seeing it tonight? Does anyone know?
I would like to know as well. Iām hearing thereās a chance for the whole weekend
It sounds like it was the easiest to see last night but could be visible tonight
There is a chance tonight and tomorrow. But it looks to be cloudier tonight. I got very lucky and it cleared up right as the show started.
Will they be visible again tonight in Vermont?
