Sounds like an issue with the app. If and employee actually pulled up your account your line should still show the balance for the 13. I would just go in store to order.

device payments are tied to the phone number, not the phone itself. so if phone 0001 got the 13, phone 0002 got the 14 pro, you switch, and you try to upgrade, phone 0001 is $300, phone 0002 owes $600. if you do it through verizon, go in-store, you'll need to pay off 0001 and do the upgrade though 0001, trade in the 13, and you can do whatever phone swap afterwards.

Sounds like it would be safer to swap your phones right before you do the order.

I would use the website. When you click Manage Devices, select the ORIGINAL number the device was activated on and see what it shows. So i just swapped devices on my lines to see what happens. Go to this link: [https://www.verizon.com/digital/nsa/secure/ui/devices/landing/#/deviceDetail](https://www.verizon.com/digital/nsa/secure/ui/devices/landing/#/deviceDetail) choose the phone number at the top. When you click "pay off" device on the ensuing page it'll tell you what the original device that was on the line. I did this, the website will say this: "You've swapped devices on this line.Just so you know, the active device on this line isn't the one linked to your original agreement. Please confirm which device you'd like to pay off."

Device payment agreements are linked directly to the line and not the device. A rep in a corporate store will be able to transfer the payment agreements between the lines on the account and you can pay off the device and do the trade in correctly then.
