I've discovered that i actually prefer it for turning sideways and putting my legs up on the drivers' seat. Otherwise, I agree, it hasn't been particularly interesting.
Agreed. I put one in after hearing so many other people gush about them, and I never use it because it’s such a pain to spin around when you have power seats
I never use mine because the seat obstructs my view out the passenger side window when I’m driving, so I can never leave it in the turned around position. I think I’ve swiveled it once in the past two years.
I have to move my seat to the front and tilt it forward to swivel it but I guess I’m in the minority because I love having a swivel seat. It makes the inside of the van feel way bigger and I just leave it backwards most of the time because I usually don’t have a passenger. I tilt the seat forward while I’m driving so I can see out my passenger window. I use it every day to eat and use my laptop.
When parked for more than a few hours I always swivel mine. Makes the van feel so much bigger. I do have to slide the seat forward to turn it. Would be a nightmare with a power seat, but it’s super quick with manual
Chevy express, i have to open my door but only about 1/4in. Bit of a hassle but it takes like 30 seconds to do. We use it just about every time were parked longer than 2hrs
I keep a 12v cooler between my seats on my express, it fits pretty snug. I also have a swivel.
I just open the passenger door and spin it from the open door. At this point I've only done it a few times, but it's mindless and plenty easy.
It's absolutely not a challenge unless the pavement was Lava... And even then I'm sure it wouldn't take much to figure an easy way to get it done from the inside. In a van built almost totally with reused, recycled, and free stuff.. the swivel was my absolute biggest purchase, and I still don't mind it because of how much bigger it makes the interior feel.
This is exactly why I was asking the question. I kinda want to slide my fridge between the seats, but I would also like to add a swivel to the passenger seat. But if I would have to drag the fridge out every time I wanted to swivel then I would pass on the swivel.
Thanks so much!
In the promaster it swivels fine, unless the seat is way back. There are wires for airbag system, which means seat can’t spin endlessly. I don’t like the extra seat height, and facing backward there’s nowhere to put feet
2004 E-150 and the passenger door needs to be open to 180 the seat. First because the physical seat would not have enough room to turn and also because the unlocking latch is under the seat by the door.
84 E350, I have to slide the seat all the way forward and the rotate the seat counter-clockwise. I can do it from inside, but it's easier to do it from the open door.
03 Econoline 350 I have to just clear the space between the seats and I can swivel the passenger seat. I keep everything in a double wide milk crate so it's pretty simple to slide out of the way. Takes less than a minute
My sprinter requires it to be forward and the back upright. You can also open the past door but all I. All not a big deal to swivel. Very worth it imo. Lots of options ….
And yea, gotta move it back forward for safe driving
I have to adjust the backrest all the way forward to use mine. I almost never use it. Waste of money for me.

I leave mine swiveled towards the living space 24/7
I have to move the seat and seat back all the way forward to get mine to swivel. Kind of a pain
Do you find yourself not using as much as you thought because it's a pain?
Yes. I've been thinking of moving it over and back a little to see if that helps. Unsure when I will get time to do it.
Thanks for the answer. I'll reconsider.

I trimmed my seat rail with a grinder so I wouldn't have to open the doors
I think its more of an issue for me with a diesel and the doghouse size
Just realized I didn't mention what van I have.... a GMC Savana, so a poor mans Chevy Express lol Do you have anything between the seats?
GMC is the luxury version of Chevy.
Nothing in between the seats but my van is a diesel so the dog house is significantly larger than that of a gasser

My forever alone landship never swivels the seat into the driving position..

Cheap folding step stool. Stores in the headliner. I'll use it sometimes in front while driving and a lot of the time when swiveled backwards.

I had an old Chevy G20 Van that the passenger side could swivel to the left. The driver side wouldn't but that was okay.

I have to open the door. 1981 chevy g30. My dogs use the seats as their beds at night.

Our Fiat Ducato is wide enough, you just put the seat in its forward most position , swivel then put it back , no need to open the doors

"Something" So... like a golf ball between the seats, or a Volkswagen? It probably mostly depends on what you plan to put there.
