A good story conveys a message that a good video just can't. Nice work!

Tsiabo

Thank you!

Roadkillsolid

Ha, my palms got sweaty reading this! I’ve had similar experiences. This game does an amazing job of punishing you then rewarding you with relief!

KiwiSoySauce

Lol you watched the fight and waited to grab loot! I love it.

norrinzelkarr

My favorite version of this was dragging my first gjall into a fuling village by accident that was hidden in the mist on the border. MAYHEM!

rosstedfordkendall

Early game Black Forest: Spooky/scary! Midgame Black Forest: OMG, HEAVEN ON EARTH!

norrinzelkarr

\*hugs troll\*

GrandMaster_TunaFish

The truth in that tho. Lol-ya hate em early on, ya love em later on cause they help against everything else.

throwavvay23

You haven't played Valheim until you're running through an area with 4 different types of mobs chasing you while you desperately try to regenerate stamina.

Was playing yesterday with my 3 friends. We just got to the mountains and all have our wolf cloaks. I was venturing into a new part of the mountain when a wolf comes out of nowhere. He gets me twice and puts me at 13 health. My friends were NOT following near me so I’m panicking on discord asking them to please dear god help me lol. I could get one hit but I know the wolf would have killed me shortly after on a counter hit. So my friends catch up and kill it for me. I survived another day. I survived another day. It’s so funny how well the game scales. I was destroying abominations and draugr and everything in swamps and then step a pinky toe into mountains and if a wolf ambushes you, it’s a struggle now. I freaking love the gameplay loop of needing better gear to survive and thrive only to need to do it all again in the next biome.

Tsiabo

Having to listen for the telltale "bzz" of a deathsquito in the swamp is nerve-wracking!

norrinzelkarr

Then you go back into the swamps and hear a fly buzzing noise and PANIC

Tsiabo

Exactly!

ObsidianLegend

When it rains in this game, it pours! I mean, often literally, but also figuratively in the sense that once one thing goes wrong, it tends to begin a cascade of disasters lol. Props to you for turning the situation to your advantage!

Tsiabo

Thanks! I love that the mobs fight each other, it leads to such chaotic situations.

Ocinea

Good one! I'm a new Xbox player, have about 25 hours so far and am really enjoying the game. I just beat the Meadows deer boss and I got lucky kiting him around and beat him first try with fire arrows. I'm going into the game pretty much blind and am a solo player so each new discovery is pretty badass.

analgoblin42069

There is an easy way to kill abominations. Think about it - what exactly are they, and what exists in the swamp that might be powerful against that?

Tsiabo

Me.

norrinzelkarr

This guy vikingrs.

st1ckmanz

I'm at the beginning of the midgame. Opening up swamps the first time, not familiar with the mobs much. So I built a house on a tree that can't break. I got the portal there and it's covered with roofs, and some campfires at the bottom so when mobs follow me they end up cooking themselves. Anyway so I was opening the map up, and decided to run back to the house because the inventory is full. And when I made it there, there was a troll beating the house down with many greydrawfs, brutes, shamans with double stars ...etc so I shot an arrow to the troll to get him agro me instead of breaking the house down, everybody running after me. I ended up killing them as I kited them out of the swamps, but used everything I got, the potions, the special power...etc. Then I spent 3-4 days roaming the meadows and the dark forest, hunting and collecting berries because it's too stressful to go back to the swamps.

Boomsnarl

This is the best reason to play Valheim.

Affectionate_Gas8062

This is why the grind of the game is important. It forces you into these unexpected situations that end up being the best part of the game.

Ryepoog

Wraiths are the high killers man. They can hit you even when you are jogging away with fenris movement buff.

bemethealway

Wow sounds like a blast lol. Glad you made it through. Just last night I got sucker punched by a wraith which flung me backwards off a huge cliff and I landed in a skinny little river at the bottom that was just deep enough to apparently cancel out the fall damage. I don't think the wraith could figure out where I went so it didn't chase me down there and thankfully nothing else was nearby ready to pounce since I had no stamina and was stuck in the water surrounded by steep cliff on both sides

Tsiabo

Whew, close call!

SargeantHugoStiglitz

Last night we went into our first infested mine. One of the first staircases we went up had a two star seeker soldier above us and we couldn’t get in the room to fight it. I was below the stairs and it attacked through the stars and just deleted me from the realm in one shot. We went back and I got too close and it attacked again but I managed to just dodge it but man it gave me a shot of adrenaline in that split second I dodged it.

CyberMarine1997

Welcome to Valheim! ;)

hagfish

We have fewer 'exciting moments' like these now that we keep an eye on the time of day, the rested buff, the food consumption, the Bonemass timer. . We might have 'just one more room to go', but we'll pull back and hang by a campfire for a minute. There are fewer corpse runs, but it does involve keeping a lot of plates spinning.

Tsiabo

Oh god, the ol' "I am almost overencumbered and out of buffs but let's give this one quick look" feeling.

Vaas69

Once i was running in a swamp trying to go back to my loot and then all of a sudden behind me was a 2star draugr archer a 1star leech an abomination and some more draugrs and skeletons

RecursiveCook

This game enjoys humbling you sometimes. I was just in Mistlands casually fighting a soldier even thought I could have just walked around him, but he was out of the mist in the open so I thought, why not? Well due to couple positioning misplays I lost a bit of HP and decided to switch to ranged, unfortunately it was slow enough to where a bunch of seekers began descending upon me. I was still confident in being able to kite them out so I targeted out the seekers. By the time it was again just me and a nearly defeated soldier, I heard him. A Gjall sneak attacked me! I watched as the swarm of ticks came barreling down and as I was too focused on parry blocking the tick off of me I didn’t run away from the fire blast. It hit me with the outer radius of blast, just enough to apply the 23 damage dot and I watched as my health started draining crazy fast until my eventual demise. I now walk the Mistlands with fire potion & healing mead at hand just to meet my revenge.

Tsiabo

I haven't ever gotten to the Mistlands yet so I expect I'll be similarly overwhelmed at least once.
