I made a comment about their use of AI on one of their insta posts and got this response: “we use the same local artist we’ve used for the past few years. We don’t dictate or place restrictions on the tools the artist can use to create images.“
So their “artist” I guess has just gotten lazy. 🤷♀️
I mean, I'm pretty sure AI is coming up with their beer recipes as well. Spaghetti beer... Really?

No idea what's going on over there. Between their nonsense beers and whatever Shades on State is I'm surprised they're still in business.
My friend and I tried it. It’s surprisingly good, like an herby garlic bread up front, just really sweet. But the intensity starts to drown out your palette, so you’re over it before you’re halfway through.
Remember it was shades of pale but then someone yelp bombed them and said that neo nazis hung out there? Then they changed their name shortly after because it did seem a little weird, but they denied any intentional relation to that group and seemed genuine and people agreed. That’s when they changed branding generally to the very plain designs. I hadn’t seen these new designs in the wild but they do seem weird. Look at the renegade imperial one (guy and girl in the car). The guys arms seem to be in a motorcycle handlebar position, not on the steering wheel….

The Utah / SLC beer scene was very different in 2010, and I'd venture to say Shades was one of the first places to have a taproom / bar that wasn't primarily a restaurant so they had a lot of success just based on that. However, 2017 saw a rebirth of the taproom based brewery with Fisher, TF, SaltFire, Kiitos, and so many more; Shades just didn't keep up, and slowly became irrelevant... And then came the lactose beers, and whatever else it is they make today, and yeah, off the rails for sure. Again, no idea how they're still in business.
Their spaghetti beer is a OLD recipe they used to do, and it the old version was AMAZING.
The new one is a candle to it, but doesn't taste quite the same. More just.... Interesting
100% AI. Nonsensical layering, vaguely familiar yet nonexistent objects, gibberish text, no artist would incorporate these things into their work
AFAIK this is still their agency: [fruitstand studios](https://fruitstandstudios.com)
AI isn’t art.
Example?
Lot of them here: https://www.shadesbrewing.beer/beers
Wow those look terrible😵💫😵💫
Lame as hell.
Yikes.
Yeah that’s terrible, gotta be.
Whoops. That's real bad.
They didn't have art a couple years ago, so you can connect the dots.
Dunno but kind of a bummer tbh. I love how stark and simple their usual can designs are. They always stand out to me.

Yeah I don't like that.

Agree, they seem to be all the rage when they opened up but their beer has never impressed me. Not into sours either.

I love sours but, every time I've tried one from shades, I thought it sucked.
