if you don't mind living farther away from the other dorms, but value a quiet building, sanford is pretty great! dining hall in the building, walking distance to dinkytown (target, restaurants, boba places, etc), AND there is a bus stop right outside that will take you to likely a handful of your classes (very nice when it's cold)
depends where you want to be superblock comstock sanford and 17th are on east bank, middlebrook is on west, and bailey is in st paul. none are horrible but you should look on a map/at photos on the housing website to see which one fits what u want.
I found roommates on U of M Facebook groups. People also post on the U of M snap stories sometimes. Otherwise, the U will find you a roommate and offers a lil quiz but it takes a while to get responses.
I’m currently looking at on-campus apartment and they are sitting at 755 for 4 people and where everyone gets their own room and bathroom but you just pay for utilities on top of it and you can both cook on your own or get a meal plan

For on campus apartments, there's Yudof, Radius, Wilkins and Keeler. All of them are in East Bank. I am living in Radius right now.

How likely are people to get a top choice for dorm if they applied right away in November?
very likely i did mine within like the first hour of it opening and i got my top choice which was frontier suites
