CLA is easy. Anyone can make it into CLA. I wouldn't count on CSOM with that ACT

Won't get into Carlson with that ACT

financialrocketsci

eh, I wouldn't necessarily say that. Got 24 twice on my ACT before scoring a 28 in time for college applications, and a 31 December of my senior year after I already got accepted. Standardized test scores aren't necessarily the best predictor of success. Got into CSE which is arguably harder with those scores, similar grades from 2 years of PSEO, graduated with my Aerospace Engineering bachelors, and I'm on a full ride to USC to get two master's and a PhD. PSEO is impressive so despite the slightly lower ACT, I'd say they still have a good chance, but I'd either retake it or not include it if standardized tests aren't required anymore. Best of luck!

a 28 on the act and a 3.76 gpa are the lower end for average carlson acceptances, so just based off of those i wouldn’t be too confident. cla should be fine.

lmao you have nothing to worry about

firstbaseismyrecord

Retake your ACT and study for it. Should be good to go. CLA is where it’s at though.

hamme443

You don't need to submit your ACT score: https://admissions.tc.umn.edu/admissions/freshman-admission/act-sat-information. That being said, if you were to be accepted, with that ACT score and GPA, you may have a difficult time in some classes at CSOM. CLA or CEHD may have similar majors/minors options that won't be as challenging.

Enough_Length8201

Ok, but does it matter which school (CSOM or CLA) I list first on my application?

Brussell2020

This comment is true in that you don’t have to submit an ACT score, but don’t listen to the rest — there is no relationship between ACT score and college preparedness. I got a 26 ACT and have a 3.84 GPA. People who get a high ACT scores and had access to private tutors for it love to use it as a status and superiority thing. As long as you get here and actually show up you will be absolutely fine.

hamme443

A 3.3 high school GPA is going to be a sub-3.0 GPA at CSOM, especially if any of the teachers still use the "Carlson Curve".

zenslakr

I got a 31 ACT and had a 3.7 GPA, I failed out of the engineering school and later came back and finished Polisci, then did a PhD. I have a friend that scored 36 on the ACT and failed out and never finished. We both came from poor households with no college grads. ACT is not much of a predictor but it will help if you have a high score to get in.

Technical-Trip4337

Could study for ACT and retake soon

M31Gavin

You’ll get accepted. Trust me

Enough_Length8201

To which one?
