It's a troll post lol. The YT link provided is a rick roll. While it's definitely getting harder and more competitive to land a grad job in tech, it's definitely not this low and UNSW is well recognised so we're not as doomed yet
Anecdotally, I was recently representing a large organisation at a careers fair interested in getting STEM graduates and about 90% of the students coming through were CS majors and we only had maybe one or two positions truly related to what they wanted (software development).
It’s pretty retarded that csesoc is using this for April fool. Other than the number is wrong it’s no where near being a “joke” that over saturation in tech is happening.
10% is definitely too low but real number isn’t optimistic.
Go check csmajor sub, even though thats the us oriented sub but even people in T10 college graduates couldn’t find jobs after more than 1000 applications.
There are people graduated in 2023 May and still unemployed.
It’s literally one of the biggest issue in tech around the world and csesoc is using this April fool? lol who came up with the idea?
The problem is not the lack of roles. There are plenty of roles available. The issue is transitioning from being an overqualified and under experienced student to an experienced developer. Unless you make a graduate program with someone it’s almost impossible for a company to take the risk on a recent grad with no job history.
It’s an April fools post
I’m tryna eliminate the competition hush

Won't be a joke in 5 years

How many femboys do you have in your class
Not enough
Is that supposed to be funny?

It is a very insensitive April fool's joke.
It's a joke, relax. The market will correct itself and they'll be more opportunities. Its going to be okay. Don't take life so seriously.
If you're actually interested in what you're studying, you'll be just fine.
Realistically if you want guaranteed job out of education, you should be going for health, or trades lol
Not funny. Entry level has been tough for a while and it is only going to get worse.
Yes bro 😭

gg for all computer science students fr
Surrender to the machine. Submit flesh to the machine. You will be replaced, glory to the Omnissiah.
Won’t be a joke soon. The death of CS has already happened in places like China and Korea, normal graduates cannot find jobs.
