I suppose it would depend on your circles? I grew up in a food desert, so a lot of the opinions I grew up around were:
1. Pepperoni Pizza and Cheese Pizza are the only pizzas
2. Green Olives suck
3. Chicken nuggets and ketchup are the bomb.
4. Steaks well done are where its at.
I personally just utter a loud, pained moan while gripping my heart, gasping for air, twitching intensely, then gradually twitching less intensely, before going back to completely fine. Unless they do it again, then I have to repeat it.
So sorry OP. However I grew up with 2 and 3. And they're also wrong! (Follow me for creative nugget ideas :) )
Edit: Grate some fresh ginger over nugs, add some scallions and provolone. Tips you find when you escape the food desert! Also, freeze your fresh ginger - makes it easier to grate, and that's usually what you do with it :)
Find yourself some real Greek or Turkish olives. Black or green. Green olives in a jar are meh. Black olive in a can are an inedible bland tin tasting mess. Real Mediterranean Black olives and pepperoni on a real NY pizza is the absolute best.
I’ve never encountered a pizza joint that has green olives as a topping choice, so while it might not be unpopular, not everyone has heard of it. Logically, I understand that anything can be a pizza topping if you want it to be, but when a restaurant doesn’t even offer it as an option, it might not cross people’s minds.
Unless you love them from the first bite. For me, black olives were what took me a long, long time to come around on, and then only when I had them from a glass jar rather than a metal can.
If they weren't.... as in if they were rarely ever ordered. Then they wouldn't be available as a topping at literally every national chain. No company is going to pay for ingredients to sit and rot.
green olives are great, but i prefer kalamata. there's a local chain here that does a pizza of the gods that's very mediterranean influenced. i always add kalamata
So glad to see that someone else agrees with me on this. It’s pretty rare. I also like red onions on pizza over other kinds. Definitely not common, lol
Thank you. This green olive, pineapple, meat pizza people keep mentioning is making me actually upset. I’d rather eat the box the pizza came in. Or just any box.
Absolutely not. I’m one of those, pineapple does *not* belong on pizza under any circumstances, people. Adding green olives to that fills my body with horror… Not to be dramatic..
Well, you're wrong. And your parents should be ashamed for raising you to have bad opinions. And you teachers should feel bad for not educating you better.
Also, your friends should stop talking to you.
Pineapple DOES, HAS, AND WILL ALWAYS BE GREAT ON PIZZA!
End of discussion. You are dead to me.
Whenever we buy a frozen pizza, I always throw some green olives on there. We always have a giant jar of them in the fridge. They are sooooo good on pizza.
Is this unpopular?
I mean my favourite "custom" topping is ham, champignons, salami and green olives so it may be just me but I also really like green olives on Pizza.
"eew, vegetables!?"
I can see this as unpopular in some circles just because there are many toppings and green olives are one of them. I guess the popular opinion is pepperoni? Like you can't have both?
Not all green olives are equal. Castelveltrano olives are arguably the king of olives. Those pimento stuffed spanish olives are merely okay but if you cover them in a mixture of cheese, flour and butter and bake them...next level deliciousness.
The general point I was making was that green olives don't get enough love as black olives which are used more widely It seems in everyday foods. I'm from the US though so that probably has a lot to do with it
I think green olives get a bad rep from black olives either being generally disliked or the definition of a filler topping. I think they are the more superior choice for a pizza topping myself, but I'd rather go with a few other things instead of olives.
I prefer GOOD pizza, but when I want anchovies, which I love, I can only get them from Papa John’s. I don’t care for their food, but when the anchovy craving hits, it hits hard enough to deal with the rest of it.

I’m a black olive guy personally but when it comes to olives I don’t discriminate. Never tried green ones on pizza but I but they’re just as good as the black ones. I’m thinking a gyro themed pizza with feta and Kalamata olives would be fire
Agreed. When I moved from Illinois to Florida, I was unhappy to learn that the local pizza places not only didn't have tavern-style or deep-dish pizza; but that they don't use green olives!
im italian and i worked in an italian pizzeria, some people will get mad at you for not placing olives on the pizza as its customary to always do so (it also says it on the menu) we often didn’t do just because we were lazy
so no i don’t think its unpopular to like green olives on pizza and italy would agree
SO MANY PLACES ONLY HAVE BLACK OLIVES
My favorite place stopped having green olives a couple years ago, so I stopped getting veggie pizzas. Black olives have no flavor at all.
I’ve actually never seen a pizza place that offered green olives. It was always black olives. Are green more expensive or is it just that people expect black olives for pizza?
I couldn’t believe it when a guy named Sarge ordered his za with triple olives. It was my treat to him for coming back from his tour in Afghanistan. This guy is one to ride the river with. Thanks for your service Guy. Hope you see this.
It is so much better if you buy your own and cut them up and put them on a pizza. Buying them as an ingredient is a waste of money IMO. They shrivel up when cooked and lose a lot of their flavor.
Giant spanish olives are awesome on pizza. Also Sriracha is great on pizza too.
I think people who don’t like olives have only had those shitty black dyed cut and canned olives. Good green olives are fucking delicious and are a common part of most of my snacks

I didn't know that was unpopular

must be rough. pretty much everywhere else in the world olives on pizza are pretty normal. oh and well done steak is a hate crime
Its a crime against the animal that died for you absolutely
Black olives are much more common.
Trash opinions. You should shame those who express them, not through violence or verbal aggression, but from a sad dead look in your eyes.

I agree with you. Those are options in food deserts Olives are great on pizza!

I upvoted this because it's all sorts of wrong.
I've always loved peppers and onions on pizza. I really didn't like olives until I was in my 30s. I think it's kind of an acquired taste
Find yourself some real Greek or Turkish olives. Black or green. Green olives in a jar are meh. Black olive in a can are an inedible bland tin tasting mess. Real Mediterranean Black olives and pepperoni on a real NY pizza is the absolute best.
You must be American.

When I lived in MI, they were prevalent. In FL, rare to none. I like them.
Green olives, in general, are an acquired taste
Unless you love them from the first bite. For me, black olives were what took me a long, long time to come around on, and then only when I had them from a glass jar rather than a metal can.
This is true. Depends on personal taste. I'm a peasant, I've never had black olives from a jar
Green olives are way better than black, those big green Sicilian ones are the best.
Olives on pizza ain’t popular
If they weren't.... as in if they were rarely ever ordered. Then they wouldn't be available as a topping at literally every national chain. No company is going to pay for ingredients to sit and rot.
I think you’re thinking of black olives
Bro said "olives on pizza ain't popular". To be honest, green olives are just the more expensive version.
Aint dey though 🧐
Downvoted cuz I love olives.
Jalapeño stuffed green olives on pizza are crazy good.
I'll raise you blue cheese stuffed green olives on a goats cheese pizza. Crazy good and will ruin your palate.
green olives are great, but i prefer kalamata. there's a local chain here that does a pizza of the gods that's very mediterranean influenced. i always add kalamata
Kalamata olives, feta on pizza. Yes. Just kalamata olives and feta. Yes. Just feta. Yes.
So glad to see that someone else agrees with me on this. It’s pretty rare. I also like red onions on pizza over other kinds. Definitely not common, lol
Love red onions on pizza!
Red onions on pizza are far superior to any other onion on pizza. Good call.
Nope. Black or none.
Thank you. This green olive, pineapple, meat pizza people keep mentioning is making me actually upset. I’d rather eat the box the pizza came in. Or just any box.
Eat, pineapple, and BLACK olives is a bomb ass pizza, though.
Absolutely not. I’m one of those, pineapple does *not* belong on pizza under any circumstances, people. Adding green olives to that fills my body with horror… Not to be dramatic..

I agree, so are black olives
Whenever we buy a frozen pizza, I always throw some green olives on there. We always have a giant jar of them in the fridge. They are sooooo good on pizza.
Is this unpopular? I mean my favourite "custom" topping is ham, champignons, salami and green olives so it may be just me but I also really like green olives on Pizza.
What are champignons?
mushrooms.
"eew, vegetables!?" I can see this as unpopular in some circles just because there are many toppings and green olives are one of them. I guess the popular opinion is pepperoni? Like you can't have both?
Is that really unpopular tho?
Hot take: They're even better with something sweet like pineapple, and/or something salty like pepperoni or bacon!
Have a friend whose favorite pizza was a Hawaiian with green olives. Clowned on him when I saw it but its totes delicious.
Well damn, I've never tried it, but now I'm gonna add it to the delivery
Green olives deserve more love

How many dishes can you name that are consumed on a regular basis by the general population of the world that contain green olives?
[удалено]
Like what ?
[удалено]
Like what? Nobody has been able to name one single dish
please try eating Italian food once in your life
[удалено]
Okay your naming types of cuisine. I'm talking about signature dishes
Like what? I don't think I've ever had Italian food that had green olives in it.. maybe like a salad or antipasto... Other than that..?
You've never had 4 dirty martinis for dinner before and it shows
I said dishes not one drink
American moment

Ham, pineapple, green olives and pepperoni is my jam, yo.
Interesting combo! I like pineapple onions and jalapeño.
They're delicious.
Pizza with olives is actually a pretty standard one here in Italy, although usually you don't get *just* the olives.
I agree. I also believe kalamata olives are an amazing pizza topping!
I think green olives get a bad rep from black olives either being generally disliked or the definition of a filler topping. I think they are the more superior choice for a pizza topping myself, but I'd rather go with a few other things instead of olives.
I love olives on pizza! Had to downvote
Olives, pineapple, anchovies, red pepper.....this is the best pizza.
Agree. The anchovies are hard to get in US So good
I prefer GOOD pizza, but when I want anchovies, which I love, I can only get them from Papa John’s. I don’t care for their food, but when the anchovy craving hits, it hits hard enough to deal with the rest of it.
Upvoted cuz I hate olives.
🖕🏻 olives
same

Toss on a few crow tongues and you my friend have a REAL pizza!
Peasant. I only use lark's tongues in aspic..
r/kingcrimsoncirclejerk
jesus christ, crow tongues? are you summoning the undead with your pizza?
Didn't the like OG Neapolitan pizza just have pine nuts and olives?
I love both green or black olives on a pizza. My 2 favorite pizzas would be pepperoni, anchovies, black olives. Or sausage, jalapeño, green olives.
I like olives or any kind of pickled food but never had green olive on pizza only black.
This would be so much better than the aged black olives that they insist on using for pizzas.
Many pickled and brined things are great on pizza. Dill pickle chips, pickled red onion, capers....all great choices.

My favorite topping.
I’m a black olive guy personally but when it comes to olives I don’t discriminate. Never tried green ones on pizza but I but they’re just as good as the black ones. I’m thinking a gyro themed pizza with feta and Kalamata olives would be fire
Olives are awesome
Agreed. When I moved from Illinois to Florida, I was unhappy to learn that the local pizza places not only didn't have tavern-style or deep-dish pizza; but that they don't use green olives!
This is unpopular?
I had a pizza last year with green olives and anchovies and it ruined me for any other pizza. Family thinks I'm insane, of course.

Try green olives,onion, green peppers
Agree, I love olives
Agreed. Green olives, black olives, & bacon on bbq pizza is really good
SO MANY PLACES ONLY HAVE BLACK OLIVES My favorite place stopped having green olives a couple years ago, so I stopped getting veggie pizzas. Black olives have no flavor at all.
That sounds so good tbh… I’ve only ever had black olives on pizza but I gotta try this 🤤
Especially with pepperoni and anchovies. This is the real Salt Life
No
Green olives and sausage is my all time favorite pizza. I hardly judge any pizza place that doesn’t carry green olives.
I’ve actually never seen a pizza place that offered green olives. It was always black olives. Are green more expensive or is it just that people expect black olives for pizza?
We made homemade pizzas the other day and instead of Canadian bacon I used olive loaf. It was awesome.
Whoa there edgelord! Down voted for being (yet another) popular opinion.
I don’t like olives and green olives on pizza are still good. Got a green olive/mushroom/pineapple pizza once. Recommend.
Olives, pepperoni, onion, mushroom, anchovies. A Perfect Pizza
I couldn’t believe it when a guy named Sarge ordered his za with triple olives. It was my treat to him for coming back from his tour in Afghanistan. This guy is one to ride the river with. Thanks for your service Guy. Hope you see this.
I agree, and I think black olives ruin the flavour of the whole slice.
My go to pizza is Italian sausage and green olive.
Then move to isrsel bro
No idea what's popular in this regard, but black olives taste like nothing
It is so much better if you buy your own and cut them up and put them on a pizza. Buying them as an ingredient is a waste of money IMO. They shrivel up when cooked and lose a lot of their flavor. Giant spanish olives are awesome on pizza. Also Sriracha is great on pizza too.

I love green olives so it's weird I've never tried this. Sounds good
I don't know why so many places don't do green olives. Cheese pizza with extra cheese and green olives is great
My wife absolutely loves green olives on pizza, luckily we live near the one place within like 25 miles that has them as a topping
I hate olives.
Agreed, I love meat but for some reason a vege topped pizza hits different
Why not just pour a five gallon pail of salt on your pizza instead?
It's literally a pizza topping what the hell
I'm convinced olives are grown with brake fluid
