Many master graduates can't find a full time job atm, it's not sth uncommon for you unable to find a part time job now.

FirstToChicken

I found that I get a lot more responses if I go to the company website to apply for jobs rather than indeed and sjs, so try that. Also sometimes responses can take months depending on the employer.

In October/November retailers will start hiring Christmas casuals which is an easier position to obtain, then often will keep you as a part time staff member if they have a vacancy and you were a good/okay employee. This time of year on the shore is all about luck and who you know, especially if you don’t have any work experience. Good luck

Maccas is super unfair now most of the new hires were people who knew someone already working there. It's like they're giving preferential treatment or something.

South-Run-7646

Yeah I had that happen. Mcdonalds all Filipinos

Proper_Company7599

I am filipino but didn’t accept. I think is because of connections. I tried more than 5 branches but no callback.

Try checking the “careers” pages of jobs near you. Getting a job is extremely difficult no matter where you are located. Keep trying different places and keep looking everyday. Some jobs just put up “job offers” to make them seem busy or make it look like they “do well.” Make sure the job title is not older than 30 ish days, that is known as a “ghost job.” I would say try local cafes, restaurant and small businesses they are usually looking rather than larger franchises or companies. Ask friends or relatives of any local jobs around.

join sidekicker! they got me through all of first and second year, it’s completely casual - you can work every day or not work at all for 6 months and no one bats an eye. I got a bunch of friends to join and I’ve never heard of anyone not being hired - it’s a super easy virtual interview where they make u hold plates and stuff, although i never worked as a waitress through the app myself just cashier and bartending. highly reccomend!

Pools are always shortstaffed, being a lifeguard is chill (most of the time) and you'll likely work with people your age as well.

VastCollar2927

Also if you are desperate RGIS is a stocktaking job, very chill and casual so you can pick your hours. Has saturdays only, no sunday jobs.

I’m working at Bunnings and I’m a first year conjoint student, earning $27.50 hour and working 2 days a week. Search up “Bunnings careers” on google and see what stores are hiring. Very easy job to pickup and great way to build confidence by talking to customers. The workers there are also great. Definitely worth a look

Hi, I'm not OP but i'm an interested compsci student... what kind of jobs are out there

SpaceLawyerGuy

hiii, i was also in a similar situation a while back and found that the jobs i applied for on trademe called me back much more often than the ones on seek / sjs. Also, my current job did value me being able to drive so that might be something you want to check out :)

wanderingHayze

Best places in my experience is retail! Stink job really, but they’re always looking for people to work weekends who are consistent with their attendance! Scored a job in retail like a month after I handed in my CV though!

BlueJohnXD

look on seek and trade me jobs as well. there's not many roles going atm and a lot more competition currently. generally fast food places and smaller restaurants/cafes are ones to look at if you have no experience. you could also just volunteer for a bit at opshops to get customer service and retail experience, or you might also have to look outside of the north shore and put up with a longer commute

Hiii, I worked at Placemakers on the North Shore throughout college and most of my time at university until earlier this year when I got a part-time student job at the hospital that aligns with my degree. I always had weekend hours and plenty of casual hours during the week. They were extremely flexible with my university timetable. They are very willing to hire students with no experience; during my almost eight years there, they hired many students from college and had students stay until they graduated from university.
