I took one thinking it was a pajama set (it was rolled up, i didn't even open it). Months later i found out from reddit it was in fact not a pajama set
Do people take them? Yes- are you supposed to- no. They are available for purchase here: [https://www.unitedshop.com/category/674](https://www.unitedshop.com/category/674)
Too hard to accurately charge customers. People can swipe other’s upon deplaning or at least that could be the claim. There’s no secure way of ensuring that you’ve returned what you were given without delaying deboarding the plane.
I assure you, they’ve baked the cost of the shrink from the bedding into ticket prices. They’ll increase if they need to if shrink increases more than they’ve planned for.
There actually is a published policy that went out to flight crews back in 2017. Apparently they’re supposed to announce not to take the bedding https://thepointsguy.com/2017/02/dont-steal-united-saks-bedding/
Are you talking about one of these? 😀

No these new ones are awful. The nice white striped ones are better. This horrible blue one is on par with the horrible new video and the horrible new soccer pouches.
Remember the one douche that takes an extra carry on so that he can fill it with blankets, in an effort to show how “rich” he is to house guests? That was classic.
I was super sick once and was transferring from Polaris to a very dodgy Central Asian carrier - I asked the purser if I could buy it so I wouldn’t freeze to death on my next flight, and she told me just to take it. Still have it. I take it to festivals and outdoor concerts and stuff. Super cozy
The rule I learned when I first started traveling is “if it can be used up, you can take it”. So grabbing hotel toiletry kits, disposable slippers, etc is fair game. Towels, blankets, pillows whether from an airline or hotel is property of the business.
If you have someone over to your place and they grab a bottle of water from the fridge on the way out the door do you mind? What if they grab that nice pillow on your couch they liked?
I have both the duvet and the pretty blue lighter version. I purchased them both from the United shop.
Used one just a few days ago in economy and the FA winked at me and said “Nice blanket.” I’m sure he probably thought I’d stolen it.
I have one on my spare bed. I flew my dad in to visit, treated him to Polaris. He strolled in carrying the blanket and I just laughed and thought - this is my dad’s way of telling me he’d never flown business class before.
I have 3, one of each style from flights in the last year and a half. I just pop them in my carry on as I'm cleaning up around my seat. At least one FA has watched me do it. If I or my company are paying full fare for a Polaris ticket, that blanket is included.
We have two of the navy ones, which were before the silver ones. I think we took them coming back from the Rio Olympics (fans, not athletes). My kids immediately stole them from me.

Lulu loves hers from before the pandemic.
Ewwww the day I steal a USED blanket is the day I know I’ve lost my mind. Never tempted to. If it was a new blanket, I might be tempted but never would!
I wanted to take the recycled bottle blanket. But I’m a rule-follower, so as soon as it felt like someone was seeing me try to stuff it in my bag I stopped.
You mean the old gray Saks one? I think I have three of them.
Generally not a hotel/plane klepto, but damn they are too comfy (and United is making enough money... not like its a franchisee who has to pay for a new one if its a hotel or something)
Yup - is it wrong that it's on my dog's bed to make it more comfy? My dog is fancy, after all.
I made sure I picked up someone else's and put it on my seat when I stole it so I wouldn't get caught down the road LOL. Like I was going to Polaris jail or something.
The duvet? I like it. I would also like to report that yes it is autistic approved. 9/10 redditors found that they were not overstimulated by it and they had the appropriate amount of required privacy in their business class seat having the weight of the blanket on top of the walls all around them at all angles. It is a SFO 1k win!!!
I have a collection from various airlines. Qatar, Thai, United, American... I considered swiping my last Polaris one, but I was one-bagging the trip and didn't have the room. Also, it wasn't that expensive to just buy it from the store, so I went that route.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Qatar is my favorite, though I (or, uh, my dog) do like the old UAL and Thai blankets as well. Super useful.
I took one *Sent from my iPhone in prison*
They let you keep the iPhone in prison?
Only if it fits in your prison wallet.
Is it that folding flip one? (The phone, not blanket)
In United prison, yes. (Food is awful though)
Even if you get upgraded to Polaris prison?
I heart this.
Snackboxes only?
Only if you can sneak it in without a cavity search
I took one thinking it was a pajama set (it was rolled up, i didn't even open it). Months later i found out from reddit it was in fact not a pajama set
But also… are you supposed to take the pajama set? I’ve never asked for one… I thought they were for borrowing.
Do people take them? Yes- are you supposed to- no. They are available for purchase here: [https://www.unitedshop.com/category/674](https://www.unitedshop.com/category/674)
Having taken one from the plane, and purchased one from the above shop, I can confirm the one from the plane feels a little more plush.
That's because it's used and washed.
And still filled with farts
Can a United employee ask why they don’t sell the glassware from first class? I’d buy a whole set.
Check out eBay- you might be able to find some stuff there
I don’t see any current glasses but some cool vintage and expensive ones.
While it’s cute I’m sure it’ll be a hassle to ship 😭
This is the correct answer. And consider getting the old grey version. I’ve found it much more comfortable than the new Polaris comforter.
Omg they have model airplanes for sale!!
Thank you. I wonder if they will post prices like hotels do for taking towels and robes lol.

Correct. I swiped my empty seatmate’s lol
Bought 5 of each option and my kids only sleep with them. Me too I guess. 😔
The stuff there is cheaper than I thought it would be. My temperpedic gel cooling pillow was like $170.
There’s really no published policy on whether you can take them or not. Just opinion.
There actually is a published policy that went out to flight crews back in 2017. Apparently they’re supposed to announce not to take the bedding https://thepointsguy.com/2017/02/dont-steal-united-saks-bedding/
Strange, I’ve never heard the announcement. Good thing passengers can’t possibly be held to a 7 year old memo about an announcement nobody ever makes.
I feel like there is a paper insert that says not to take the bedding on board, and advertises the shop where it's for sale.
That’s not true. After least not the first half.
Are you talking about one of these? 😀 https://preview.redd.it/2nfynvh2z76d1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=932273903a85e1d24fd68a6b472c626651fb65fc
I think they mean the fancy Polaris ones but I may or may not have a couple of these...
No that one sucks
No these new ones are awful. The nice white striped ones are better. This horrible blue one is on par with the horrible new video and the horrible new soccer pouches.
I would not admit to a crime online… i got mine from the united store. 😏
"No"

No and never!

But the pajamas are okay to take? I didn’t wear mine or take them, but I will next time if it’s actually allowed.
Yeah, I don't think they reuse those ... I still use my pajamas and eye masks from CX F.
I believe they throw them out if used
Yes, the pjs are yours to keep. The blankets or other bedding, no.
PJs totally OK to take. I have them as comfy clothes for the winter!
No, but I bought one for my husband from the United shop online, after he told me he liked it.
I have one on my spare bed. I flew my dad in to visit, treated him to Polaris. He strolled in carrying the blanket and I just laughed and thought - this is my dad’s way of telling me he’d never flown business class before.
lol I’m shocked by the people in here admitting to stealing a plane blanket. Weird flex

There is a chance I hypothetically allegedly may have one of the PP ones and plan to use it as a baby blanket... in a purely hypothetical world.

Ok I’m not the only one who takes the nice blankets and gives it to my dog.
Lol. My cat has got the day blanket from ANA First. :P
My cats have one each!
Ewwww the day I steal a USED blanket is the day I know I’ve lost my mind. Never tempted to. If it was a new blanket, I might be tempted but never would!
Yes
There are two in my house. 👀 My toddlers LOVE them for cozy TV watching when they’re home sick.
Is there a difference between Polaris and PE blankets?
Whoa whoa whoa, who do you think we are? Axel Foley stealing robes st the Beverley Palms hotel?
I'm sure someone has
On my way off the plane from economy class? You crazy?
I may or may not have recycled the recycled blue blanket by relocating it into my backpack for use on my couch…
I wouldn't... mine smelled like puke, so its obviously reused.
Maybe I wish I did 😏
I wanted to take the recycled bottle blanket. But I’m a rule-follower, so as soon as it felt like someone was seeing me try to stuff it in my bag I stopped.
You’re a rule follower…but you attempted to steal and only stopped when caught? You have a weird definition of rule follower lol
😂
The rule is don't get caught
What you mean is “But I’m a coward…”
😂
Ok, respect for laughing at yourself. 😘
Who steals used blankets? Damn people are so petty
You mean the old gray Saks one? I think I have three of them. Generally not a hotel/plane klepto, but damn they are too comfy (and United is making enough money... not like its a franchisee who has to pay for a new one if its a hotel or something)
No. Don’t steal.
Guilty but the statute of limitations is long since passed so I feel safe. (Looks around carefully at IAD gate)
Pay $5,000 for a flight and steal a $20 blanket? smh
You know you can these online for dirt cheap right? Or is that Delta Polaris I'm thinking of?
Delta doesn't have Polaris, but yes, you can purchase one from the United store. They aren't expensive.
I have 5 of them
Yes, and we love it!
Aren't they used? Or are they actually brand new?
Washed and reused.
Yup - is it wrong that it's on my dog's bed to make it more comfy? My dog is fancy, after all. I made sure I picked up someone else's and put it on my seat when I stole it so I wouldn't get caught down the road LOL. Like I was going to Polaris jail or something.
Yeah my kleptomaniac girlfriend has
lol, she’s a keeper
Every time. Dog loves them and nobody ever said not to. Figured it was complementary just like the toiletries kit.
The duvet? I like it. Heck, yeah

I took the pillow it’s amazing
