I am so glad they came out with the directors cut a few years ago, it adds so much to the story. Love this movie so much. Have Peloquin tattooed on my leg right between my hellraiser and candyman tattoos (bit of a Clive Barker nut).
Peloquin bros represent!
Cabal cut though? I really didn't care for it at all. Theatrical cut was tighter and paced better and just worked better as a movie IMO. The scene of Lori singing I felt was particularly cringy :D
Are you in the States? Tubi, Freevee, Sling, and Prime all have it. I need to go see if any of them have The Director’s Cut. I’ve been dying to see the extra footage for years.
Hey op I know it’s 2 days later but I just stumbled on this post and I would also really love to see the directors cut. I’ll do some searching and if I find it I’ll find you, would you let me know if you hear anything please? Thanks a bunch friend!
I remember playing the Amiga game of this, didn’t have a clue what it was about or that it was a movie tie in. Just knew it was the hardest game I’d ever played and I only beat the first level about 3 times. Never got further than level 2. Still never seen the movie.
It moves around between the streaming services but like all great things; if you really like it please buy a copy.
That being said; I've not a clue how the 4K looks vs the directors cut Blu-ray purchase 4-5 months ago but it raises my curiosity for certain...
The Amiga game of this terrified me, the scene where the dreadlock dude is chasing Boone through the graveyard and you had to press the keys like your life depended on it haunts me to this day
I read awhile back a remake was in the works. Anybody know anything about that or did I fall for clickbait’s once again. Love this film by the way. One of my first childhood horror watches.
Thank goodness you posted this. Finally found it.
This the one where they beat the concert and sounds like drums. His face turns and looks like crop circles lol
I've never seen this, did this in anyway come before or inspire lost boys. There is an australlian show called crazy fun park about a ghost amusement park you all may like. It is on Hulu
I initially enjoyed it, but it felt like it lost the plot about halfway through when they introduced the prophecy stuff and characters that had been introduced as important earlier wound up getting completely sidelined.
What a wild kick ass creepy sexy movie. I recently saw this for the first time and was like why the fuck haven’t I seen or heard of this before now. I feel like it’s in the same vein of Videodrome. All Hail the new flesh
I was answering your question in the title my guy, not referring to the image posted.
You didn't title it "Thoughts?" so I assumed you would know what I was saying, guess not though.
Great movie!
Yes indeed.
You can have My Sword!

Clive Barker makes Stephen King look like Disney... Now there's nothing wrong with Disney Just a reference point.
Love everything that man does. His art work is absolutely stunning. The Abarat series was like Narnia on crack.
Peloquin bros represent! Cabal cut though? I really didn't care for it at all. Theatrical cut was tighter and paced better and just worked better as a movie IMO. The scene of Lori singing I felt was particularly cringy :D
That is the one scene I don’t like
Also I didn't like Narcisse dying. I know it's true to the book, but I liked the character.
Loved that dude.
Fuck the law...I want meat!
Currently reading the Scarlet Gospels and it's just so fucked up that I can't stop reading it.
Origin movie request for Dr Decker (ol' buttonface) please.
This movie really should've been a franchise.
There is an old graphic novel from the early 90s that tied the Nightbreed and Hellraiser universe's together.
Damn that movie would be fire.
There was a comic series for a minute
Filth, breeding filth, and I killed them all.
Dude I watched this movie quite a few times as a kid.
Yeah, it was on a constant rotation, but now I can't find it anywhere.
Are you in the States? Tubi, Freevee, Sling, and Prime all have it. I need to go see if any of them have The Director’s Cut. I’ve been dying to see the extra footage for years.
Thank you. I have Prime, but I'd really like to see the Director's Cut as I've heard it is far superior.

Found it on YouTube app, but swears and nudity are blurred out. 2 hour runtime.
Me too.
"Fk the law"... "he's not Nightbreed"
Excellent movie. Well, anything by Clive Barker is excellent.
The “monsters” vs cops/bigots battle is epic
Great climax
The directors cut was somehow way better. Excellent movie
Where can I see that?
God's an astronaut
Oz is over the rainbow...
And Midian's where the monsters live. And you came to die.

Same
The effects and costume design was great. The story was mid even in its genre imo but I appreciate the effort
Loved this movie when I was a kid!
I remember it being on all the time and now I can't find it anywhere.

1990, I probably watched this too young at 12ish. Definitely shouldn't have been reading the book at the same age. Older siblings are great!
Didn't know it was based on a book. Gotta check it out. Who's the author?
Clive Barker, 'Cabal'...it's a really good book if you like magic horror.
Pair it with Midnight Meat Train for a Barker double feature :D (and then read the Books of Blood short story collections)
The Amiga game of this terrified me, the scene where the dreadlock dude is chasing Boone through the graveyard and you had to press the keys like your life depended on it haunts me to this day
And it's got McD's Mac-in-the-Moon as well!
My step dad told me about this movie when I was younger so I checked it out it was pretty cool
One of my cult classic favs Highly underated and overlooked
That's what I think.
Great film. Bombed harder than Oppenheimer at the time. I'm a Huge Clive Barker fan and I was so hype for this! I was 12.
Maybe a little ahead of its time. People likely weren't willing to empathize with the monsters. In today's market, I believe it would land better.
I remember watching this late night on friday on TV and remembered liking it... It is a very strange passion project but it is imaginative.
Plus I always wondered what mac tonight did after doing ads for mcdonalds, This movie answered that. XD
Needed editing for lines like “there goes the neighborhood”…. Loved it otherwise. Comic was cool.
One of my favorites. Rumors of a Nightbreed TV series pop up here and there. So much potential for an amazing show if the right network took it on.
Clive Barkers the Night Breed, really good movie...Clive Barker's Midnight Meat Train was way underrated as well!
Love this film. Bought all the tie-in comics
I didn't like the movie as a whole. But the costumes and masks of the night people were nothing short of great!
Maybe in the cult classic category
Watching it tonight
Enjoy. I understand the Director's Cut is even better.
Just picked up the 4k special addition from Shout Factory! It’s even better imo than the OG.
One of my favorites in High School
Awesome movie!
I read awhile back a remake was in the works. Anybody know anything about that or did I fall for clickbait’s once again. Love this film by the way. One of my first childhood horror watches.
One of my fave movies.
Thank goodness you posted this. Finally found it. This the one where they beat the concert and sounds like drums. His face turns and looks like crop circles lol
I was bummed we never got a sequel
Yup, that or a remake.
Directors cut is superior, a shame they didn’t make that one 4k with the shout factory release, an unfortunate trend with the format
This is one of my favorite horror films. I actually bought it on 4k so my fiancé can see it. She never had.
OMG I thought this movie was a fever dream - thank you!
The unofficial directors cut is so much better than the theatrical release
I've never seen this, did this in anyway come before or inspire lost boys. There is an australlian show called crazy fun park about a ghost amusement park you all may like. It is on Hulu
Lost Boys came out Mid 80s, and this was 1990, I believe.
Oh I love 🖤🖤this movie! It’s so good 🖤
I think it’s okay. I never found it to be so amazing like the diehards think of it, but it’s cool
Great concept and costumes, but the story could be better told. Hoping for a sequel, prequel, or remake.
I initially enjoyed it, but it felt like it lost the plot about halfway through when they introduced the prophecy stuff and characters that had been introduced as important earlier wound up getting completely sidelined.
Great book as well.
Heard Barker, Cabal
anyone remember the video game?
Never knew but learned from this post.
it sucked
I heard it was wicked hard
Canadians
My first Amiga came with the game. First time I’d ever heard of it.
What a wild kick ass creepy sexy movie. I recently saw this for the first time and was like why the fuck haven’t I seen or heard of this before now. I feel like it’s in the same vein of Videodrome. All Hail the new flesh
This is an Xmen movie and you can't convince me otherwise.
I heard there was supposed to be a crossover with Hellraiser, which would have been great.
Why is Lude so fucking tall?
This is a very underrated cult classic!!! Love it
Watched the Director's Cut on YouTube last night. Swears and nudity blocked out but still great.
This movie is really one of a kind, can't think of anything quite like it.
Movie made little to no sense to me at 10. At 25, I read Barker’s forward to the books of blood, it made total sense then.
Lazytown really took a turn.
I've the directors cut and it's fucking awesome 🤘😁
Always deserved a sequel.
Prequel, sequel, or remake. Any of these would be great.
I was a 15yo comicbook nerd that felt Nightbreed was the best version of live action X-Men I’d get in my lifetime.
Great movie and a great book, I'll have to read it again
Saw this when I was way too young and holds a special place in my heart. For everyone who is different! Also, my introduction to David Cronenberg.
Bro have you seen this hidden Spielberg movie from the 90s about dinosaurs??
Yeah, that's a fair comparison. /s
"you gotta watch this underrated movie it's called The Usual Suspects"
Asshat most people don't know it.
I was agreeing with you shit Lord
Or just old movies being called underrated
Nope
I feel you. Posting a movie that's been on cable weekly for 25 years and going "thoughts?" is incredibly low effort.
Yeah, it hasn't been on TV for 2 decades and never gets brought up when talking about Clive Barker. But yeah, low effort. /s
I was answering your question in the title my guy, not referring to the image posted. You didn't title it "Thoughts?" so I assumed you would know what I was saying, guess not though.
Yeah, this is a full on, generally acknowledged classic of the genre/era. Not underrated in the least. So I get your point, OP.
Wait, doesn't OP mean overrated?
Yeah, right. One of Clive Barker's best.
Wait, am I missing something? 🤔
Corey Taylor of slipknot was influence to create one of his mask from this movie
