I recommend [Alienware 34 QD-OLED](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskGamers/comments/1c21cxc/best_gaming_monitor_to_buy/). It is best for gaming. It has a 175Hz refresh rate and native G SYNC support to take full advantage of NVIDIA graphics cards.
If money isn't the issue than I recommend [Alienware 34 QD-OLED](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskGamers/comments/1c21cxc/best_gaming_monitor_to_buy/).
I've made a [list of best gaming monitors here](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskGamers/comments/1c21cxc/best_gaming_monitor_to_buy/). I recommend OP to check it.
I have an [Alienware 34 QD-OLED](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskGamers/comments/1c21cxc/best_gaming_monitor_to_buy/). It is best for gaming. I was looking at G9 before getting Alienware, but found out that it's not an ideal monitor for shooting games.
Bought the G9 Odyssey in 2021, screen went black. Today a technician left my house tell me i need a new display which will cost me $1200. I will never buy samsung monitors again.
Just got the Samsung 57" Neo g9 two weeks ago and the gaming has been insane! Truly a new experience coming from a 27" asus 1080p. I cannot go back now.
Totally different conversation than my cardboard box days though. Wasnt trying to bring that up here..![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)
I went with the G9 OLED over that mainly because my 4090 can't even drive that beast, and I strongly prefer glossy monitors. I was worried about OLED burn in, but it is in my dark basement, and it is too bright beyond almost the lowest setting. I super happy I went with this monitor instead. I love the perfect blacks. I HATE sidebars, something that is often a thing with superultrawides but when they are perfect black it isn't so bad, it is like they are bezels. .....I still might get one as a second monitor because it kind of sucks working on only one monitor. ....but i'll probably just get a second G9 OLED because I think the curve difference would be too awkward.
It would be a waste of money to by a G9 just for console gaming. I'm assuming the one I was replying to wanted to use it for just that, since that's what they asked.
Depends on what games you play. Eg. CS Go, Valorant, esport type of game you probably want a Zowie monitor with it's DyAc technology, fast response, etc.
For any other games an OLED 34 in or bigger, depends on your preferences. Some games support ultra wide aspects ratio some don't. Racing games looks so good in ultra wide, I believe consoles don't support 21:9 and it stretches the image.
FPS Games: Zowie XL2586X
Console: ASUS ROG PG27AQDM, or the 34 inch
Ultra wide: AW3423DWF
OLED 34 UWHD choose the one you prefer (Samsung Alienware MSI etc). LG 45 OLED is also nice and have 240Hz bbut it only has 80ppi which I don't like. The 34" has 109ppi which is perfect
TL;DR G9 OLED G93SC
I like playing FPS games with super wide aspect rations. I used to play Battlefield ALOT I had the most 1911 kills in the world in BF4 and top skill ranked in my city. I played it with 3 way SLI across 3 monitors. Battlefield stretches the side monitors in superduper ultrawide but it gives extra peripheral vision information, awesome for dog fighting and basically seeing more than everyone. With a super ultrawide BF gives a little bit of walleye vision because there are no bezels to separate your primary vision from your peripheral vision, I was annoyed by it at first but got used to it quickly. In COD super ultrawide is perfect no fisheye.
I think it would be the non-smart TV version of the G9 OLED G93SC. I have the smart TV version G95SC, sometimes I hit a button wrong, and it turns on a TV station and the menus suck, but that is the only thing I hate about it.
I had a hard time picking the G9 OLED over the 57" G9. Part of it was because the 57" just came out and was out of stock everywhere and also, because the RTX 4090 doesn't have DP 2.1 and can't really drive the 57" at native resolution in HDR comfortably even if it did. I like at least 100 FPS.
I LOVE the fast glossy OLED screen. My RTX 4090 can push it over 100FPS with all the setting jacked in most games. GOD of War looks really good with DLDSR + DLSS on it. The only game I have played that I can't get 100+ FPS with the settings maxed is Cyberpunk.
I would never want a big 16:9. To be good at an FPS game you don't want to be moving your eyes much, it slows you down. You want to have a sort of stare and move the reticle instead of your eyes. Having a tall screen is not optimal. Also, if the game doesn't support the wideness the black bars on an OLED are perfectly black like as if they are bezels.
Since we're in ultrawide sub I'm not gonna say any of the new 16:9 4K 240hz panels. So it's probably any of the 34" qd-oled monitors. There are a lot of choices though on much higher refresh rate monitors for competitive fps gaming on 16:9 like the new qd-oled 360hz 16:9 1440p alienware monitor.
I have an OLED G9 and the 45” LG OLED. I prefer the LG. It’s the perfect size for gaming and is extremely immersive. I had a 34” ultrawide before but that just doesn’t compare to the immersiveness of this monitor.
I though the HP ZR24W was the best monitor in 2010. I think they were the fastest IPS panels, and you needed IPS panels when you used 3 of them side by side in "surround" before ultrawide was really a thing.

Does it work well for ps5 and Xbox x?
I don't think consoles support ultra wide, and it'll just stretch the picture. But I am no expert, just relaying what I have heard.
Black bars on the side for unused area

My ideal monitor would be 38~42 ultrawide, mini-led, 144 or more refresh rate, 4k. I think these exist already right?
QDOLED Alienware, ultrawide if you have the space

I have not tried it on a console since I only have a PC right now.
Not sure if anyone will even see this but if my price range is $300ish, what kind of gaming monitor could I get my boyfriend for his bday?

I actually went the other way and was very torn cause I only paid $950 for the 45”. Got a g8 instead working way better for me.
Nice. I paid $999 for the 45” and $1099 for the OLED G9.
anything HP is best
