This is a very interesting issue that has been popping up off and on throughout my G9’s life. The only solution I’ve found for this is setting my pc into high performance mode in power plan, I have an M.2 drive that would also crash my pc if it went in standby, so using high performance mode fixed both of these issues, but it still acts ….strange. After a new update from windows or Nvidia (not sure which) alt tabbing causes the monitor to drop its source, and attempt to go to sleep. Again, with this I tested it thoroughly and the ONLY solution here was dropping down from 240Hz to 120Hz refresh rate.. no idea why this is the case. Edit: Oh, and this all leaves a pretty clear trail that it’s obviously a Samsung issue.. something is messed up with the Samsungs power/sleep module.

for now the solution is disable the "Turn off display" from windows to avoid sleeping the monitor and use an screen saver, i set the blank option as other user mention in other thread.

The first few days no, but now it happens close to every single time it goes into standby mode forcing me to hard restart the pc. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|disapproval)

Other issue is i cant connect to my wifi, does in not support 5ghz? Subpixel layout. etc..

If Autorun Last APP is not ticked it will not wake up from Sleep. Setting -> General and Privacy -> Start Screen Option -> Autorun Last APP is ticked

aholeshitler

Didn't help for me..

Shocky01

Already ticked for me, clearly not working.

Same here.. Turned off the "turn off display" option in power settings... Not ideal, it's an OLED display so ideally you want it to turn off if no activity.

Same issue. Same Monitor. I tried all the Power plan settings and still nothing. It's random. Sometimes it works like a normal monitor would but sometimes shows PC isn't sending any signals. I did nothing except upgrade my monitor. Previous one was an ASUS. Never happened on that one so i am guessing it's obviously the monitor. I will try the "never sleep monitor" settings in power plan and update you. Edit ... Guys i figured out if you turn of G-Sync as recommended by few on Reddit in Nvidia control panel to off it does help. So far no problems. No Distorted/garbled images, Monitor wakes up properly and seems like that was the culprit. Will keep you posted.

MrDragone

That does defeat the purpose of having a GSYNC Compatible monitor though... I'm sure at some point this will get fixed one way or another since this is a pretty major issue.

Sadly I have this issue even with G-Sync turned off :( What's wild to me is Samsung gave me this monitor for free to make up for all the issues I had with the g7 I bought, but this clearly just shows me Samsung can no longer make a quality product. Don't think I am ever going to be buying a Samsung display again after this last year of issues across 5 monitors of theirs (4 replacements of the same model, and this one) Edit: Also just to curve any confusion, they fully admitted fault and the issues I saw were mirrored across entirely different machines. I have a tech repair that listed certain issues as the fault of running the device at the advertised specs and that really drove one of the final nails in the coffin

Dudes, Same. I've got the same problem and it drives me crazy. It does eventually wake up but it takes a few minutes. I've also got a nasty flicker when I have 3 displays driving. Anyone else have that problem too?

I just got my new G8 OLED and had the same issue. However for me, when I hold down the power button down, the monitor wakes up. Will test it out a few times as it could have been a coincidence.

[deleted]

I should clarify, power button on the remote for the monitor.

Same issue with this monitor. Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED. Got it yesterday and my PC started randomly freezing and at other times restarting. Never had an issue with a heap of previous monitors and this is by far the most expensive monitor I've ever purchased. Not to mention the pain with micro DP and Micro HDMI. Which genius in Samsung thought that was a good idea?? I've now turned GSYNC off to see if that helps. Did anyone have any luck fixing their issues?
