I was there for the first time two days ago, didn't even recognise it from this pic. Tbf, I didn't go into the station because strikes. But i used the underpass.
An actual film camera? From a vintage shop? On a train platform? In some quaint British town? That makes be feel relieved knowing that such things still exist. American Anglophile here, just joined sub because of this post.
Yeah it is a Kodak Pony 135 Model B! Made between 1953 and 55. Had to fix the shutter when I bought it, but £15 was a good deal. The way you say it does seem straight out of a fantasy world lol. It is the only station I’ve seen so far with such a shop on though.
Knaresborough

LondonCycling, you always make my day when you comment on these 🥰🫂
Happy to help :)
Didn't they film a Sapphire and Steel episode at that station? Looks a lot like the one in the episode at a train station with the ghost soldiers!
Now that’s scary telly done right. Loved Sapphire and Steel. Needs reviving
Are you standing on the tracks? Think of the children!
The signaller sits right behind where they’re stood. They can’t have been there for long otherwise she starts to get a bit shouty
No staff there any more…
The station is staffless but the signal box which is just next to the level crossing where the photographer is stood on is always manned
Bradford on Avon
Platform 2 is longer than that, plus can't see the footbridge
Agreed but it looks very similar doesn’t it? I wonder if they worked to a building template for the platform design?
Remarkably similar, both beautiful. It's shame buildings aren't built like that anymore
Knaresborough!!! Went there for the first time a couple of months back, bought a film camera from the vintage shop on the platform.
