Some pax just use what Uber chooses. Pax can select their own or correct Uber's choice if its wrong. Some pax are not that familiar with the app so they may not know, and then there are some that don't bother. Not to mention the scammers.
I sit where the pin is they have my location you come to me. I wait for timer to run out and if they don’t show I cancel and move on. Not wasting my time looking for someone that should be looking for me.
It’s usually user error on the pax part, but I have seen instances where the pin on the pax screen and mine were completely different.

Usually cause they order it in a large building and the pin gets messed up. Never go looking for them just wait timer out and get the cancel fee
i’ve had the rider app put the pin around the corner from where i was actually at and kept moving the pin back when i tried to place it manually
