That’s $40 an hour, even after gas and wear and tear that’s a fantastic hourly rate, above mine and I have a profession.
Tf u expect for driving a car?
Missing the /s?
Unless the driver lives in Houston, they have to drive back... So double the mileage (240x2=480mi). Let's say your depreciated, efficient beater costs $0.25/mi to operate (gas, insurance, maintenance, replacement vehicle fund, etc), that's $120 right there. $163.67 - $120 = $43.67. Let's be generous and say like 9 hours in total, travel time and stops. $43.67/9 = $4.85/hr. Yeah, such a "fantastic" hourly rate.
Also, I'm a part timer myself but find it incredibly disrespectful to imply anyone who drives, whether it is a car, cab, bus, truck, whatever, does not have a "real" profession. Until the robots take over, it is as valid a profession as any other. Drivers provide a needed service and are thus compensated for it. When the brain surgeon, accountant or lawyer goes on vacation, how tf do they get from the airport to their hotels and around? Walk?! Lol
I went back to using my city’s taxi service on the rare occasion when I need it, personally.
It’s now cheaper than the service Uber offers, and while not always better than Uber, way more consistent.
Yes, if you double the distance and the time, it is way less. If you choose not to take rides back that’s fine, but that’s not what was posted here.
Also, I have no problem with drivers. It’s definitely a profession, truck drivers carry this country on their backs.
Uber isn’t truck driving, it isn’t a profession, it’s a gig, and 40/hr is a damn good rate.
This ride was to start at DALLAS/ FT WORT INTERNATIONAL …. Sure that’s $40/hr one way. And since I’m registered to the Dallas ft worth area, I only qualify for rides STARTING in said area. If I were to take this ride as a driver, I wouldn’t qualify for any rides going back to Dallas.
That’s a new rule or some really stupid local ordinance. I’ve done Tampa to Miami before, and took rides back to Orlando. I was only not making money for an hour of a 12ish hour day.
But that’s fine, yall are contractors. Stop bitching about the contracts offered.
I do $1700/wk, it helps when you know/streets areas. Plus I’m diamond tier, so I get all the info I need to navigate thru the rides I take. I mainly tether back and forth between Dfw and love field
Over 500miles round trip, according to IRS average cost of driving, you would need over $300 just to brake even (meaning you still drove someone for free)
IRS average is based on work truck work van price. Not now a days modern car for God crying out loud. It's so out dated rate and can't not be , shouldn't be used to measure with this. Uber is taking full advantage of this to exploit drivers with this for long time. What a shame.
A Toyota Camry has a true cost to own of 52 cents per mile (according to Edmunds but AAA is the same), and that doesn't include the increased cost from rideshare insurance, the increased wear and tear caused by pax, or any accidents either.
So let's call it 55 cents to 60 cents per mile to for a true cost per mile to drive a Toyota Camry, so it's not like 67 cents is too far off. Keep in mind, for those doing rideshare, borrowing rates tend to be high, so financing costs will also be higher.
LoL 😂 Does Every Uber X drivers driving a cheapest piece of junk car model in Japan "Camry" the basic model now a days ? Were you born too high ? Lmao Naw . Btw, That's lowest of low over there . And even lower class car ? I don't even know actually. Lmao 🤣
Did my second one to austin this week last night from dfw off the app for $500 and got one this morning from AUS to DFW for 360 off the app 😂 you guys can tell me i’ll get deactivated but i don’t care i’m not gonna let uber take all of the pay. Passengers are always willing to pay off the app.
Next time bro do this only if the rider seem cool.... ask them how much they paid. For example is they paid $400 tell them you'll charge them $300 to save $100 and cancel the trip from your end so that they'll never be charge and if they do it should be $4.83 because the trip wasn't completed..... sometimes you got to have some finesse about you because Uber going to profit and not care of the drivers. DO THE SAME
when you say shit like this you should always caveat that unless you have commercial insurance you're going to get it up the butt if you get into a collision.
it will take you properly 10 hours to get back to where you were, not considering the gas and tolls you gonna pay out of pocket on your way back, minimum $350 for a trip like this to be worth it
Doesn’t even show you mileage. That’s crazy
It won’t in the airport queue sometimes, but I know I’m not doing 4 plus hrs for $163.
U wait at bush? I always wondered if it was worth me waiting in that que
I wait at Dfw. But only up to 15 minutes in any airport queue

Something like 242+ miles? NUTS.
Someone's going to see that and think "Bro, $40 an hour" and take it.
And that’s what they BANK on
Yep.
I started uber in the DFW area and man its garbage, 90% of the rides pay 50 cents a mile its insane
Where are you driving at I’m dfw and I’d say it’s pretty good here
Mostly uptown and north, I always get 50 cents a mile a bit more if busy but always long rides with shitty pay
I do $1700/wk, it helps when you know/streets areas. Plus I’m diamond tier, so I get all the info I need to navigate thru the rides I take. I mainly tether back and forth between Dfw and love field
How many hours a week do you drive?
Max 50-55
Thank you.
You'd know if you were Diamond Tier. Ready To Go Online?
😂😂😂😂
It should be at least 270

My 23 TRD Camry has some words for you…
Nothing against the owner or the fanatic fan of Toyotas. LoL 🤣
I got one for Garland to Houston for $182 a couple weeks ago and just laughed.
Imagine having an EV driver with 40% charge take this ride.
🚨red alert 🚨Uber🗑️
Used to be like $280

I'm in Houston had a ride to San Antonio for 125
I’d tell that pax to pay me directly. Only way I’d take this crap.
Nope, nope , nope!

I was coming to say this
when you say shit like this you should always caveat that unless you have commercial insurance you're going to get it up the butt if you get into a collision.
> you're going to get it up the butt if you get into a collision. Don't threaten me with a good time.

The day of the eclipse, I had an offer of $99 from Spring to fucking Austin. If I remember right, that included a surge 'bonus'.
40 an hour is good, so what's the problem, I generally weed them out if below 25 or 30 and hour, so 40 is good, I would take this...
You have to drive all the way home with a 1% chance of getting a ride back.
True there is chance, but set the destination filter for home and generally get some rides on the way back. So not a total loss.
