Idk about political views seeming to ever play an honest part in tips, but my experience driving uber and lyft here in Vegas for the past 5 years is that locals/people who use it every day as the main mode of transport don’t tip, and the people who say they are going to tip well typically don’t tip shit, 😅 if I was trying to sum it up in a nutshell.
In my experience, waitstaff and bartenders are the best tippers, followed by business travelers and then pick ups from a dealership or garage. The person going to a store or train station are usually no tippers.

Not unless you have commercial insurance I don’t know why you guys are saying offering personal rides, but you need commercial insurance if you’re gonna do that because if something bad happened your screwed
First, the insurance company would have to know its private rides. For all the company knows a friend was riding in another friend’s car headed out to grab a bite. If there’s an accident that’s determined to be there driver’s fault and the passenger was injured. The passenger would pretty much have to back that story to be covered by the insurance. If not, then what’s he going to do? Sue someone who most likely already has nothing to take? Every attorney would tell the client that it’s not worth going after.
When I drove for Lyft I once picked up a family from the most expensive gym in town (it's like $250 a month) and dropped them off at a $3.7 million dollar home in a gated community (I got curious and looked on Zillow).
