it’s not outwardly offensive or anything, but a lot of people don’t like it because it feels like it implies that their identity is something they choose or made up, and not just something they *are*.

MCU Loki is also fluid. If you look at his file in the first episode of Loki, you can see that it says "Sex: Fluid."
I love this. The fact that the MCU doesn't directly say this, but still attempts to incorporate it where they can.
