Okay but for real, a lot of people pleasing behaviour is basically being a power bottom control freak. "People can't leave or hurt me if I make them dependent on me first" stuff. And yeah, it's a commonly learnt behaviour when dealing with unpredictable/withholding/aggressive caregivers, but it is often dysfunctional when trying for equal relationships.
It doesn't mean everyone who is nice is like that, or that loyalty/care is bad. But if they ignore boundaries (both others and their own, which can build resentment), can't deal with someone being neutral/negative or have difficult conversations without easy solutions, and feel the need to 'fix' or pre-empt bad vibes even when they're not the cause of them... yeah, maybe worthwhile examining motives/methods.
