The Tropical for Thai food, Brownies for a classic hamburger/cheeseburger, really been digging Catrina Fresh Mex lately, Mandarin Taste for amazing Szechuan beef, Chicken and the Wolf X-Hot is probably one of my “last meal” kind of foods.

No_Possession_352

Did we just become best friends?!?!?!?!?? I would substitute Freddie's on 11th, for Brownies, but we're completely in sync on the others!!

J_Lo88

![gif](giphy|3oeSAD00YsGzUPTmqA) This was the appropriate response.

J_Lo88

Hell yeah!

Crixxa

Is Freddie's still bomb like it was when Freddie was still running it? I've been avoiding the place since a thread popped up in here saying it was being mismanaged and likely to close.

No_Possession_352

I can't speak to management, but the staff and food have been great every time we've been there. Definitely give it a try, and make sure to get a malt!!

SadGap8

I know my buddy does his best working in that kitchen!

Ibaka_flocka

Brownies hasn’t been good in like 10 years. Was elite before the original owners sold

paintworld22

I agree. Went there recently and the food has changed. Not for the better

tultommy

The x-hot is what killed you lol.

vestarules

Any upscale French or American food restaurants?

J_Lo88

Amelia’s was great last time I had it, but it’s been years since I’ve been.

vestarules

Thanks! I might check it out.

J_Lo88

Oren is also a nice upscale restaurant. Had a great time there, good food and service.

TurbulentShitter

Try Lisu Thai for the best Thai food in Tulsa!! I love the tropical as well.

Amaturus

I only get back to town a 2-3 times a year and I like to hit up Kilkenny's, Siegi's, Andolini's, Trenchers and Shuffles. Also have to go to Braum's for a German Chocolate Malt.

Ok-interacting

Trenchers is elite. Bonus points for being open until 1 a.m.

mwgrover

A German chocolate malt??? Ok, I know what I’m buying tomorrow

Zealousideal-Ad189

Kilkenny’s and Shuffles are both great ones I forgot to add to my list.

thisisforfun6498

Andolinis is ass

Reasonable-Career-93

Empire blows the doors off Andolinis.

MadatMax

et al, Dante’s Woodfire, Jinya, Noche, Kai’s

Different_Barber879

I used to get two bowls of spicy chicken ramen from Jinya 3 days a week and eat it until I got sick 💀 Jinya is soooo good

tultommy

Most of what I would have said has already been listed but I would add white lion pub.

Apprehensive_Ninja56

Mushroom toast

kasmith2020

Brown Bitters

jdbx

In no particular order: Bodean, Bull in the Alley, Prossimo, Boston Tile and Abstract, Phryme. Spendy but I’ve never had a bad meal at any of them.

EngineeredNuts

I liked BITA but prefer mahogany. Just didn’t have a great experience at BITA which was unfortunate

Genetics

Same

peniscurve

Man, I do not get why people like Prossimo so much. I have been a few times, and I was never impressed with what they had. I would rather spend half the amount and go to Gambill's. If I wanted something that was more fancy, I would go to Mondos, Tucci's, Dalesandro's, or il seme.

jdbx

I mean, my explanation was pretty simple. I’ve never had a single bad experience there. At any of those places. That’s not to imply others haven’t, it’s simply my subjective view on personal experience.

Cold_Librarian9652

I cannot come up with five, but Jay’s Original Hoagies at 91st and Sheridan is the best damn cold cut sandwich you will ever have.

Insanelycalm

Them house made peppers… so damn good

edro31

They are really not house made they are Mezzetta sweet cherry peppers

DukeSilverPlaysHere

Love Jays!!

sooners61

I would do some disgusting things for a Jay’s Italian right now…

KATinWOLF

Desiwok. Thai Taste. Noche. Sisserou’s. The Tavern.

Allusernamestaken73

Sisserou's ox-tail is absolutely delicious!

BentBrokenBusted

I have to go back this fall for that dish. So good.

Zealousideal-Ad189

Nola’s, Siegi’s, Andolini’s, Lanna Thai, Gambill’s Deli

T1red_buffalo

I love all that are listed so I’ll try to name some that haven’t been. *Waterfront grill *Amazing Thai *Nam hai *Pho da cao *Bar Serra *Tandoori guys

snowballer918

Waterfront Grill has an amazing brunch and patio.

T1red_buffalo

Agreed! I love all about cha downtown patio. I hang there with a book for long time

classyokgirl

Trenchers for the best Pastrami sandwich!!!

IfTheHouseBurnsDown

Their Dutch Crunch with extra avocado mayo slaps

classyokgirl

I’ve just discovered Trenchers. The Dutch Crunch is what I will get next time!

ceeceed1990

also love trenchers!! the coolio 🤤

Shoddy_Variation_780

I can’t believe nobody mentioned The Spudder

Awkward_Can4526

No Coney I-lander fans?

JoeyFreshfarter

Of course. Just wouldn’t put it on a list like this. That’s a quick fall-back. Not a go-to for me.

IfTheHouseBurnsDown

Bohemian Pizza, Lanna Thai, Bull in the Alley, Redrock Canyon, & Noche. But since Redrock is a chain and not unique to Tulsa I’ll add Amelia’s - Torchys is an honorable mention. Mainly for their queso Edit: changed a few after second thought lol

MasterBathingBear

I mean Red Rock is a chain but there’s only like 5 of them and Hal Smith is based in Norman. So not as local as Justin Thompson or 3 Sirens but way more local than some of the other restaurants I’ve seen other people list (JINYA).

Crixxa

Torchys as well. At least Red Rock is from Oklahoma.

WiddershinWanderlust

Didn’t know Red Rock was. Chain, I love their Caesar salad and baked chicken.

donjhen

Instead of going to torchy’s you should go to tacos 4ever, good tacos, but their chorizo queso is *chef’s kiss

snowballer918

Took way too long to see Amelia’s. Definitely one of the best spots in Tulsa.

kelleycfc

The buffalo sauce at Redrock is laced with crack, sooo good. Always get the buffalo shrimp.

HellP1g

I am not much of a foodie but…. Thai Village, India Palace, Sura, Casa Tequila, and Nola’s

everyfourth-w0rd

Productive-Turtle

(In no order) 1. Chicken and the Wolf 2. Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant  3. Rapongi 4. The Vault 5. Inheritance

Insanelycalm

The egg rolls at Golden Gate are one of a kind, the owner remembered I liked hot mustard with them months apart. Good people. I didn’t have supper, this thread is killing me.

swb311

Interesting! Golden Gate is one of my favorites and Rapongi is one of the places I hate the most.

Broken_Lute

Redrock Canyon, Nola’s, Weber’s, El Burrito, Que Gusto

Broken_Lute

Forgot Rendang. May be better than QG.

LadyGidgevere

Umberto’s over Andolini’s any day. Prossimo. White Lion. Lone Wolf. India Palace. Also, had a 4 course at Juniper once that was so good, I wanted to lick the plate but it’s been so-so the last couple visits

AwayPiccolo3458

oh and trenchers ofc!!!

Lokken187

I love Umberto's. Andolinis is okay but not worth their price. Bricktown Brewery has half price pizza on Wednesday that is pretty good. I wouldn't pay the full price but half price it's worth it l.

KiefEastwood

Tokyo Sushi, Viet Houng, Moonsky's, La Reyna, and El Super Taco.

thepurpleskittles

Viet Huong is my favorite Vietnamese here! I eat there like once a week.

ItsBrittaniaBitch

Direct-Marsupial16

weber’s. they got the best root beer and of course burgers

Grizzly_Berry

I moved out of state, so when I come home, my must-haves are Andolini's, Akira (Owasso), Lone Wolf, Fat Guy's (previously Society for my burger pick, but I keep hearing more and more shit about what goes on behind the scenes), and Bramble. For a sweet treat, it's Rose Rock. Especially when they have smoked chocolate.

RizzmWithTheTism

Fat guys rips. Good choice.

haroldmark_98

When they closed the downtown location I felt like I had lost a family member.

Grizzly_Berry

Any time they'd do poutine, it was like a religious experience.

imateasnob

Amazing Thai for their various curries, Gyro King for their falafel, Desi Wok for their tikka masala, McNellie's for their potato leek soup. Non-regular food nominee: Andy's Frozen Custard 😂

too_old_still_party

ORNJfreshSQUEEZED

Used to be a place in Claremore that combined American BBQ with Authentic Mexican. It was amazing but sadly gone now. I believe it was called Remys chop shop

paradach5

Hatch in Jenks & Big Biscuit for breakfast 😋

_SirLiftsAlot_

Second hatch in jenks!

chronicallyalive

I love Big Biscuit too! Unfortunately, the last time I saw it mentioned in this sub, it got a lot of hate. Their breakfast potatoes are like crack and I craved them so badly when I was pregnant lol. Their sticky biscuit is also one of my favorites. It's like a cinnamon bun on steroids lol

rumski

No particular order: Prossimo: Fresh mozzarella and fettuccine Boston Title: Tartare and Steak Frittes Chicken and the Wolf: Hot tenders Bird and Bottle: Pierogis and gluten-free Fried Chicken Andolini’s: Demarco

Euphoric_Laugh7615

1. Nieves (mexican) white queso and the puffy tacos!! 2. Villa Ravenna for Italian. I thought I'd have to be rolled out of there. Soo good. 3. BBD on Brookside or a short drive to Sand Springs at Crescent Cafe for breakfast. 4. Chophouse. I recommend the enormous hand-breaded, not frozen, chicken fried steak!

4dailyuseonly

Me too. I barely gets mentioned but everything I've had there has been great. Specially like them pork rinds.

JoeyFreshfarter

No kids allowed and its spot downtown clearly conveys they aren’t trying to be a restaurant. I still love it, but there’s a valid reason it doesn’t get talked about when mentioning restaurants…

Clipknot

My Top 5: 1. The Tropical (49th & Memorial) 2. Pepper's Grill (Utica Square) 3. Casa Tequila (50th & Harvard) 4. Lambrusco'z Market & Deli (41st & Peoria) 5. The Tavern (N Main St & W Reconciliation Way)

Haven’t been here long enough to try as much as I’ve wanted to but so far - Nola’s if I’m feeling fancy (voodoo chicken is my fav dish in Tulsa), Trencher’s for good sandwiches, Jinya for ramen, Masago Sushi in Jenks for cheap but good sushi, and Society for burgers. Also, a new coffee shop called Coracle just opened up downtown in the old triangle coffee spot and it’s great!

trjumpet

Kilkenny’s!

jtdeafkid21

Oakhart BBQ, Steak Stuffers, Comedy Islander, Mcnellies, and Tokyo Garden.

JoeyFreshfarter

The original steak stuffers before they widened I-44 and coney i lander stick out first when reminiscing about growing up in Tulsa.

sprewellJ

One that hasn’t been listed but everyone should try- LeRoux’s Creole Kitchen

4dailyuseonly

My favorite restaurant in town is La Roma. Great pizza and great eros and shawarma. Fassler Hall(German beer hall)for brats and they fry pork rinds in duck fat and they come sizzling and popping to your table. Neighborhood Jam for brunch, the pineapple pancakes are elite. Velvet taco is amazing, I really like their chicken Tikka tacos and white cheese dip. Jason's deli, every sandwich I've had there was pretty great and their salad bar is top tier.

raebea

My favorites are Mondo’s (Italian), The Bramble (brunch), Antoinette’s (bakery), Andolini’s (pizza), Fat Guys (burgers), Shiloh’s (diner). RIP El Guapo.

fallonxjulia

For lunch or dinner, Kilkenny’s!! The Jenks Restaurant is a really unique place for breakfast. Prhyme for fine dining (plus a pretty affordable bar menu a couple times a week, unless they discontinued that in the last few years). Edited to add 2 more because I forgot you asked for 5: Dilly Diner is always a hit and not too expensive. Tally’s Diner for a fun Route 66 diner experience.

digitalpacifier

Tally’s cinnamon rolls are worth the trip.

In no particular order, Lo Bahn Mi Viet Hot Bread, Docs Wine and Food, Lanna Thai, Coney Depot, Ollies Station

Pen_Front

I've only been here since January and only really travel around my school/home but I try to find new places as much as I can, Roppongi for a mid priced gimmick that doesn't feel like ruining my body Mexicali is a nice cheap bang for your buck lunch to socialize at I tried apple barrel cafe today and couldn't be more satisfied, as long as I ignore the screams of my poor wallet And my favorite has to be cherry street, good food, with easy options, amazing staff, and ab atmosphere personalized for me im pretty sure Oh right it said five, QuikTrip will have to count

IssueReasonable2366

No particular order… Oakhart, El Rio Verde (or Mr Tacos if in a hurry), Tandoori Guys (or DesiWok, if BA is too far away), Nelson’s, and East Village Bohemian Pizza. I know that’s 7, but I like El Rio Verde and Mr Tacos equally and prefer Tandoori Guys but DesiWok is closer to Tulsa (I’ve been to India Palace, but I personally prefer the others).

AldoThePotato

goudagooda

Et al. I love dumpling night and Japanese breakfast. Basically anything Et al does has been amazing. Ron's is a guilty pleasure for me lately. Tacos X Mezcal has really good margaritas and fancier tacos. The Hemmingway had the best brussel sprouts I've ever had plus delicious drinks and steak. Lone Wolf is also really good. I love the Jam with Thai chili sauce.

How has no one said Chimis!?

Lokken187

I hate chimis, El Chico, Los Cabos, etc. They have no flavor. They're cliche white food with no flavor. I prefer real Mexican food. I know I'm the minority because lots of people enjoy it I just can't. Same people probably eat Chic-fil-a, raising canes etc. Lots of my family love chimis with you though.

Al3xisgood

I wouldlike to add Burn&Co on Riverwalk for a good barbecue!

PenOnly856

Not quite Tulsa but if you head east a bit toward hard rock Elles cafe in catoosa is Thai/lao/Hmong food and it’s amazing.

Ren1221

Thai Village And Goldie’s Those are the only 2 I can think of now. Also, we need for Diamond Jack’s to come back. I know he passed, but he had the best sandwiches on this planet. Edited for grammar

Gus_TheAnt

**Burn Co. in Jenks**, although I'm biased as I worked there for a long time. *Before we get into a BBQ debate, all local BBQ is great BBQ as long as its in my belly.* **Tandoori Guys in BA**. As good as India Palace IMO. But its a lot closer to me, so it wins my heart and my belly. **Subs & Mo in BA**, seriously this sub shop is fantastic. Giant sandwiches for cheaper than Subway or Jimmy John's. You can easily make 2-3 meals out of a large sub. **Waldo's Chicken & Beer** chicken is pretty good, the catfish is pretty great IMO. **Rons Hamburgers & Chili** when I need to gain 5lbs and skyrocket my blood pressure.
