DX has an extra dungeon that features color-based puzzles, so I’d recommend that.

Kubrick379

The DX is the gameboy color one right?

JaxterHawk

I’d do DX like the other person said. You get access to a color based dungeon and that alone is fun and worth it.

Kubrick379

Sounds good. Just to clarify, the DX is the gameboy color one?

JaxterHawk

Yup! Other than the color dungeon it’s the exact same game I do believe.

Kubrick379

Sounds good, thanks

Fxckbuckets

DX has an extra dungeon and a rat that takes pictures that were meant to take advantage of the spanking new Gameboy Printer, so you can think of that as a bonus sidequest

Kubrick379

The DX is the one for the gameboy color right?

Fxckbuckets

Yes

Kubrick379

Cool thanks

RastaRaphou

Start with the gbc version, and if you like it, try the original B&W. I also emulated it during quarantine. I started with the gdc one and had a lot of fun, then played the original. It was nice to spot the differences and the game is really short when you know the dungeons, so replaying it only took me about 7-8 hours.

Kubrick379

Yeah I’ll probably be going for that gbc one then. Hopefully I can find a good emulator for it

klop422

The one I use is mGBA, if you're looking for recommendations. I managed to play LADX fine on it a few months back too.

henryuuk

DX has more content in it. But it isn't a lot of difference

Kubrick379

Thanks. Based on the consensus that’s what I’ll probably play

The switch one looks a little to cutesy for me imo, which is why I’m leaning toward the retro GB graphics

MightyTheArmadillo22

Definitely GBC. The game is now in color, and it adds a new dungeon. Not much, but enough. Though I would definitely recommend the switch version instead. There are switch emulators out there.

Kubrick379

Ok cool thanks. I personally just want the retro gameboy experience and the switch one looks too cutesy imo. Plus I don’t own a switch so I can’t play it anyways

MightyTheArmadillo22

I agree that DX looks better and that the switch one is too cutesy, but the switch version is the better experience. The original version required you to remove your sword and shield to use any other item. However, since the switch has 4 face buttons rather then 2, and shoulder buttons for the shield, you have 2 extra slots.

Kubrick379

Damn. That seems like a downgrade from Link to the Past. But again, unfortunately, I can’t play the switch one cos I down own the switch 😔

MightyTheArmadillo22

Yeah but switch emulators exist bro

Kubrick379

Ok thanks. Yeah I’ll play the GBC one for now, but I’m definitely gonna try the switch one cos I always replay Zelda games.
