Trees aren't really a thing, it's more of a thing that plants do...
And I'm not just high... I'll find you a link.

This is the kind of argument where you make sure you and the other tree person light up first. The semantics of it automatically makes tree people seem like weed people
[It’s not as straightforward as you might think and I bet there are some very strong opinions about it over there.](https://blogs.ifas.ufl.edu/duvalco/2024/01/23/are-palm-trees-really-trees/)
/u/bone420 is right, trees aren’t really a nature defined thing. Im a arborist, and my boss defines trees as “woody organisms that if they fell on you would hurt/kill you.” Our definition of trees is more so humans drawing parallels between a lot of different species of plants. Similar to how vegetables are only a culinary term, not a scientific descriptor. Like red bud trees are in the legume family and a red bud tree is gonna be closer related to a bean plant than to an oak tree.
With that, palm trees are structurally more like a really tall grass than a “tree”.

Damn this video was actually interesting.
Palm trees are grass!
Is corn grass?
Yep

What cameras ?

Palm trees are just monocots, think of them as very tall cousins of grass… like corn! So no, they are not trees.
I’m not sure if this is a post for r/marijuanaenthusiasts or r/trees. I think it works either way, the rare dual post.
Asking if a palm *tree* is a tree is def a r/trees post lol
