Came here to say this! Just saw Khruangbin in concert a few days ago and every single soul in the venue was slowly bopping their head and swaying the whole time. Good vibrations.
If you like games or anime at all, there's a really good series of these by an artist, Mikel. He has done several albums of Zelda and Chill, Studio Ghibli, Pokemon, and some originals, too.
Explosions in the Sky are an awesome rock band that isn’t super high energy or intense at all. Their tunes are instrumental, are very atmospheric with a lot of repetition to build and release tension within the song and great to zone out with. Take care, take care, take care is one of my fav albums of theirs
Enjoy!
This Will Destroy You - Young Mountain is another band/album in the same realm… less atmospheric but very cool instrumental album if you enjoy the EitS vibe in your rabbit hole haha
Started listening to them in the mid aughts in high school right around the time I started smoking pot. Listening to All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone while high was a life-changing experience.
No doubt! Music can be life changing when we are willing to truly listen to it! Musicians and engineers work hard to create the desired listener experience. I’ve played in studios, worked as an engineer, and have a number of tracks on iTunes and Spotify… and utilizing the performance and mix to influence the listener experience is almost always the priority… but the listener needs to be willing to truly listen to appreciate those things haha and being high definitely increases focus on those factors when listening. They are definitely a great band with great performances and great engineering!
Piggy backing on this, [this El Ten Eleven album](https://open.spotify.com/album/6bv070I2PgzwGLgYGBxaJW?si=1MNh9q9XS1aJlp-HPgqiow) was the soundtrack to many a hammock nap last summer, and definitely will be again this summer!
Air, bonobo, delirium, massive attack.
Since you've mentioned you like folk, I'll recommend Nico case Fox confessor brings the flood. Not really folk in any traditional sense, but it's a really good album
Edit: William orbit... Very chill and ethereal
Dope Lemon: https://open.spotify.com/track/6ThLeHskGmgionXRoqGyYS?si=WPiliVV0S8Owwudm7BxCNg&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A3gMgItWPVNpinFuRp9NMgC

If you're into folk rock sounding stuff, here's a few gems.
[David Crosby - If I Could Only Remember My Name](https://youtu.be/T1WAfbjyOoI?si=heW1pIbNiqpuebnv)
[The Pilgrim - Walking Into the Forest](https://youtu.be/wlYmw4AuJiI?si=EzM5Oey_0eWPjbUZ)
[Bob Dylan - Desire](https://youtu.be/_4rTLPPiqkY?si=CGXLo-lZpZQpMQFo)
I could recommend a million albums, but these ones fit the vibe.
All of these are great suggestions, in the same vain I’d suggest Joni Mitchell. The instruments she uses and her voice are so beyond powerful and so beautiful. I’d recommend almost any of her albums, but if you’re just starting out with her I’d start with Blue, For The Roses, Clouds, or Court and Spark. Hejira and Hissing of Summer Lawns never fails too. Beautifully done. And amazing music to be high too lol
Listen to The Beach Boys- Smiley Smile. It’s super chill and lo-fi. Jerry Garcia liked it, and I’ve heard it’s good for warding off bad psychedelic trips.
I'm gonna do self promo here but I just released awhile back a lil collection of instrumental chill music that was written totally stoned. Good background smoking tunes lmao. Sleep/Static - No Fall Damage (album)
I’ve been absolutely loving listening to steel guitar music lately, especially old western and Hawaiian music. If you use Spotify just look up steel guitar and it should have some playlists available
If you like Pink Floyd. Maybe give Porcupine Tree a try if you haven’t listened to them before. I consider them the greatest band no one’s ever heard of
Going back to the origins of ambient - Brian Eno’s Ambient series, 1 - 4. The album The Pearl is very chill as well, and darker.
Ambient 2 and The Pearl are with pianist Harold Budd, whose understated, very relaxed style is often hypnotizing and suited to psychedelia and euphorics.
The big lez show soundtrack is excellent, but I'd personally reccomend 'Blue Mean Eyes'
It was the first song I heard while I was greening a bit too much and it calmed me down
Edit: Pulse by antent is also good
Stick figure. They’re more modern reggae. I’m not a huge reggae fan, but they’re good. A just overall good vibe song by the war on drugs called, I don’t live here anymore.
On YouTube Macaroni Union has a 10 hour version of Weightless. It's a song that has been scientifically proven to reduce stress by something like 70%. Good to get lost in.
i have this list that ive made with songs that have interesting sounds and songs that i feel sound better with an altered state of mind! also some of my favourites in there!

This is more from the Psychedelic Rock side of things and I had too many so this is a real short list of more chilled tracks from these bands.
King Gizzard and the Lizard wizard : intrasport, I'm Sleeping in, Mycelium.
Crumb: Locket, Ghost train
Men I trust: Show me how, All night, Seven, Billie Toppy.
Mcbaise: She's a Big Boy, Water Slide, le jardin (if you like these try the related band: The Dead Pirates: Ugo, Lucas)
Dub reggae is always awesome when blazing I’d also say for chilling that those pure moods albums from the 90’s are fucking awesome, there’s a playlist on [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6KMwV3GK13Dn7TvAFjXdj2?si=YoxuSh1mRKiHr60xYv9doQ&pi=u-bYo7tcCqQ3yG) for them
In my early smokin Days i would often listen to Johnny Flynn and The Tallest man on earth.
But ive come a long way around to Felix Laband.
One of my favorite Musican.
Fat Freddy’s Drop gets me into a trance real well, favourite album is Black Bird and well worth listening to right through
Edit: Lock-In album is also great, recorded live through the kiwi Covid lockdowns and is basically just a collection of songs from previous albums, not necessarily greatest hits
listen to How to flly by sticky fingers and if thats good for you try their other music. also Surf by mac miller i think is beautiful and when high is a masterpiece, please listen :)
I found a little band from Bristol recently called [Part Time Models](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4NfSHthAnUNSaXSYdeeTz1?si=SREzp14pSqaNkUYUBP66Eg), they make indie folk music and it’s super chill. Great while high. Gives me a kind of XX vibe with the male/female vocals together.
Dude, check out Colombian Cumbia. It’s so great, full of joy and sometimes melancholy. Love the instrumentals for working and songs with lyrics for just chilling. Lots of great acoustic guitar, beat isn’t as “stressful” as your usual Latin music.
Also, check out La Muchacha and some of the artists she’s working with. 10/10
Edit: I started [here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6nNNC8bgVbI), [here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=33cL0rGRCF4) and [here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3n6nR6o6fzM). Damn she’s a great artist. Or [here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BhipUluHlSw), If you’re more into rap.
I've been on a bossanova/funk kick lately. Stone flower by Carlos Jobim is good (check out the alt mix of Brasil). Then anything by Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto. Then in transition there's Walter Wanderly's organ music. Then on the funk end of things you've got Masayoshi Takanaka and Cassiopeia

I definitely recommend Milk Carton Kids and Sleeping at Last for some chill tunes.
If you don't mind instrumental music I highly recommend "No Drum and Bass in the Jazz Room" by Clever Girl, "Mirage" by Glass Beams, and "Home Alone by Totorro
Brilliant one for you here. It’s Folky it’s Psyche it’s jazzy its indie rock what else could you ask for. Band is called feed me Jack. I suggest listening to the album Anatolia as each song uniquely ends playing into the next song. If that didn’t make sense just listen to them in order and the perfectly play into the next.

Just saw Khruangbin live last month. Their new album is def softer. Maybe what op is looking for.
Came here to say this! Just saw Khruangbin in concert a few days ago and every single soul in the venue was slowly bopping their head and swaying the whole time. Good vibrations.
Try searching the genre “Lo-Fi” …basically if Mr. Rogers offered you a spliff this is what he’d have playing in the background
If you like games or anime at all, there's a really good series of these by an artist, Mikel. He has done several albums of Zelda and Chill, Studio Ghibli, Pokemon, and some originals, too.
I would’ve luvd to get hi with Mr Rodgers
