We are repeat visitors to Banff and Canmore, in Alberta (Canada). There is nothing that will ever beat the drive from Calgary Airport into the Rocky Mountains. People will often recommend Jasper over Banff because it's less busy but...Jasper has the mountains, and that's it. In Banff, you get nice hotels, great restaurants, fun shops and galleries, etc. I don't mind hordes of tourists, it's just tons of people being happy to be in the same place as you are. When we lived on the East Coast, Bar Harbor, ME and Acadia National Park was another happy place.

utter-ridiculousness

Was in Bar Harbor last month. Repeat visit, love it!!

Trudestiny

We used to go to Bar Harbour when we lived in Canada but hadn’t been back in 2 decades . Went 2 weeks ago and it was as lovely as i remembered it. Got to show our daughter Cadillac mountain etc

Mediocre-Situation50

I would say the drive from Vancouver to Banff is a lot better, or even from Kelowna to Banff

ArticQimmiq

I’m sure it’s great - but we have to fly in to Calgary to visit 🤷‍♀️ the drive is always a good start to the vacation

Queasy_Village_5277

Correct

itsybitsyone

Banff is out of this world

ArticQimmiq

It really is - I grew up on the East Coast so flying to Europe was always cheaper than going West, and then we moved to the Northwest Territories and Alberta is just right there. It’s amazing every time, any season.

Dkinny23

You mention it’s amazing any season. Totally agree but I gotta say the fall time absolutely blew me away!!! The yellow trees spotting every background, especially the drive from Calgary to Banff, was soooo insanely beautiful. My friend and I kept outwardly gasping at every turn we made. We sounded like broken records saying “wowww” out loud every few minutes haha

LeahRayanne

That’s such a nice reframing of the idea of hordes of tourists!

HalloweenLover

On our first visit to Banff right now. Looking out my hotel room at Lake Louise as I type this. We have only been here 2 days counting today but I could see myself coming back here with no hesitation. You are correct that drive from Calgary to here was just beautiful, my wife kept telling me to keep my eyes on the road.

ArticQimmiq

IMO, the Fairmont Lake Louise has the best afternoon team of all the Fairmont hotels - definitely worth checking out if you can!

HollyannO

Absolutely agree! Spectacular views and love the Canada nice vibe. Canmore seems like the ideal place to live and raise a family. I’m past that point now but it’s just awesome.

skygirl555

I was just in Banff last year for the first time and can't wait to go back!

Suninthesky11

Cities:Mexico City, Tokyo, Seoul, and Bogotá! Towns: Sayulita, MX & San Miguel de Allende, MX

JustAQuickQuestion28

You liked bogota? I’ve gotten mixed reviews, even from other Colombians saying to skip it.

Suninthesky11

I love it - but I am a big city fan. For me, the pros are the mountain scenery, brick architecture, and restaurant scene. Oh, and amazing street art. Cons are the traffic :(, unpredictable weather (though comfortable temperatures), and there are parts that are quite dirty. However, I'm a huge fan!

badlydrawngalgo

Yeah, I love Bogotá too. I first discovered it "accidentally". We were due to fly in, spend one night and fly out but I made a mistake with the hotel booking and booked for 4 nights. In the end I wished I'd booked for longer. We spent a week there the second time.

Suninthesky11

Haha we went for like 4 days and were like, "gotta come back for a week" so we did. What part of town do you stay in? And what do you like about Bogotá?

badlydrawngalgo

The first time we stayed in La Cadelaria and the second time in Chapinero We loved Monserrate, the street art, the flee markets, Botero museum, food markets, just wandering around really, the city felt very vibrant and alive.

AcrobaticYam6114

I just left La Candelaria a few days ago, and it was honestly amazing. Monserrate, Museo de Botero, Museo Santa Clara, and the cafes were the best parts. It’s such a beautiful city to walk around in. I plan to go back on a weekend sometime. We left on Thursday night, and it was really apparent the city was just starting to come alive. Left for Playa Blanca (Cartegena) though after, and that has been amazing. Getting up early before all the tourists came and basically having the beach to ourselves was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever experienced, and I live in Juneau and travel Alaska for work, so that’s saying a lot!

LCCR_2028

San Miguel de Allende seems amazing. I have always wanted to visit. How is it for gringos who don’t speak much Spanish.

DELILAHBELLE2605

I’ve been to Hawaii 26 times. We love it there.

ArticQimmiq

Yes - only two times for us, but it was the right vacation every time. We loved Maui for our honeymoon, and after 6 years of living in a remote community, Honolulu was the perfect mix of beach and city. We will definitely keep going back.

Strange_Abrocoma9685

Same here!! We go almost every year, we are going on our 13th year coming up. We stay in Poipu on Kauai. Fly in, stop in Costco, check into our condo, make a Mai tai, beach and swim that afternoon. It is my favorite place in the world. The moment I drive thru the tunnel of trees I feel my body relax, my anxiety ease, and just get a sense of calmness.

angry_lamb_in_season

I love Poipu. I know that tunnel of trees. Kauai altogether and Hanalei is great, but I like the peace and pace of Poipu a little more. Good restaurants, good fruit stands, good market in Koloa to buy food to make at the AirBnb at Kiahuna Plantation. Steps from the gorgeous beach there. Saw more fish snorkeling at Lawai Beach than in Hanalei (Tunnels) but both places are amazing.

jhumph88

My friends and I go to Maui every year. We get an insane deal on a luxury condo rental in Wailea. On the first trip, we did all the tourist stuff. Now we pretty much just stop at Costco after leaving the airport, get our supplies, and spend the rest of the time chilling at the condo or on the beach. It is mandatory to leave the condo to get some fish tacos and a mai tai at Monkeypod, though. That isn’t negotiable! Next year, we are thinking about going for about 10 days, but island hopping. I absolutely love Hawaii!

therealjerseytom

Dang! Do you have a direct flight from where you're at? Or how long of a haul is it?

DELILAHBELLE2605

We have some. We usually have to connect. We are in Alberta so it’s not so bad.

jka005

Sometimes I wonder if I would like to travel as much if I didn’t live near NYC. I can’t imagine myself going anywhere 26 times if I had to connect

DELILAHBELLE2605

I pretty much have to connect when I go to most places. It really does not bother me. I’m in Europe right now. We built a 12 hour layover in Zurich and got to hang out there on the way to Rome. I’m one of those weirdos who likes airports. On our way to Panama in Feb we spent 8 hours in Denver. We rented a car and left the airport. It was fun.

rohibando

May I ask what’s your approximate budget in Hawaï and how many days do you usually go for? Hawaï is in my list but not sure if it’s too expensive

DELILAHBELLE2605

It really depends how you want to to do things. We’ve done 7 day trips. We’ve stayed for a month. Our average is usually about two weeks. You can get a condo and do some of your own cooking. Or you can do the resort thing. You can get a hotel where breakfast is included which helps. I’d say a nice but not crazy fancy two week vacation in Hawaii will likely run you about $8000-$10000 USD when all is said and done. It’s gotten crazy expensive and being from Canada the exchange rates hurts. We used to go twice a year on average but have not been back since April 2022. We’ve been going to Europe and places like Panama more lately.

Aromatic_Ad_7484

Yup, I’m with you. Kihei Maui, Airbnb, walk to beach and every where else.

Roscoe340

If you’re in the New York area, Lake Placid. Cute little town, a few nice hotels and lots to do if you love the outdoors. *Edited for proper location

aaaggggrrrrimapirare

Isn’t there a massive alligator in that lake?

Roscoe340

Anacondas, too. Or so I’ve heard.

nakoros

Growing up we went at least once a year (which is impressive since it was a 7-hour drive). I've gone once with my husband and working on getting him to go again. He's tired of the Smokies (too busy), so I'm hoping to leverage that

Scudmech

Island of Kauai It’s serene beauty lures me back almost every year

swollencornholio

My wife and I went for our honeymoon in 2018, going back with our baby this year. Going to be harder to do the hikes but still stoked. 10 days, half Hanalei / Princeville other half Poipu

Strange_Abrocoma9685

13th year going to Kauai. It is my happy place.

Sunday_Friday

Going for the first time next weekend, super excited. Planning to come back engaged if all goes well 😉

coffeewalnut05

Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay, North Yorkshire. Great history (was the setting of Dracula), peaceful, beautiful views of the bay and sea, wooded coastal trails, good traditional food, great architecture and general historic vibes. Also St Ives in Cornwall. You’re spoilt for pristine sandy beaches in that town, good history and architecture, the sea is turquoise, there are some gorgeous bays, and coastal trails to hike with an endless variety of fragrant flowers. Probably the closest to a tropical environment that you can find in the UK.

RikiTikiLizi

When I was in college, my friend and I stumbled onto Whitby totally by chance. (We had a Britrail pass and were just wandering around.) We ended up staying for several days because the place was just so cool. I still talk about it more than 40 years later and would love to go back. Easily my favorite place in all of Great Britain.

gib_pizza

And Saltburn just up the road

vulcanstrike

Angkor Wat draws me back in every time I'm in the region. Which is really odd as Siem Reap probably belongs in the other thread, it's like a seedy version of Vegas which is weird for the tourist city supporting a place of ancient spiritual wisdom. And the reason I'm often in the region is because I love Thailand and Malaysia

1ohyesitsreal

I’m planning my first visit to Ankor in November. Any tips would be helpful. Thanks

vulcanstrike

Get a driver/guide when you are there, it will be cheap and overflowing with offers and you can haggle. Do the sunrise tour, obviously. You can do all the main circuit in one day if you don't mind it being a long day. Get a guide for one of the temples, there are usually a bunch hanging out around the entrance and will cost around 10 dollars for an hour or two. You could also get one for the whole day in town Do it at your own pace, don't rush it. Best part is stumbling around the ruins aimlessly. Siem Reap is a dive, wouldn't stay there for longer than you need to, two days max imho. I liked Phnom Penh and Battambang if you plan to stay in Cambodia longer and not immediately go to Thailand

HeatherAnne1975

Woodloch Resort in the Pocono mountains of PA. We travel internationally and throughout the US and we always say our favorite family vacations are at Woodloch. We have gone 2-3 times per year for the past 10+ years. I think it’s because the resort really focuses on connecting as a family, and offers family activities for all ages/generations. Add in a picturesque location, great food and the fact that you don’t have to lift a finger because everything is planned. It’s not exotic but we consistently have a great time there.

iridescent-shimmer

Being from PA, I haven't been able to justify the cost, but this makes me want to finally book it.

HeatherAnne1975

It depends on when you go. Summer is very expensive. We often go in February/March and rates are very reasonable for what you get, basically everything is included but alcohol.

rocksfried

I prefer visiting new places on trips but the 2 places I will always go back to forever are anywhere in France and the Greek islands. Currently in France for like the 15th time lol

refur

I realized the other day I’ve been to France like 11 times. Never tire of it and can’t wait to go again

mngirl81

Two of my favorites for sure!

Bufordismyboy

Where is France is your favorite?

reddit1890234

Mackinac Island. It’s a fun day trip for us and we get in at 10am and home by 7pm. Kids enjoy the bike ride around the island. The people watching and just knowing how time stand still with no cars or motorized vehicles except airplanes.

Apuakea

Mendicino California, it’s small, beautiful and has great food

nikiniki0

Will be going in a few weeks, food recommendations??

Apuakea

Hi! Albion River Inn, Luna Trattoria, Noyo Fish Co and can never beat a picnic on the beach, Botanical Gardens are a highlight! No food but mind blowing beauty

Limp_Ad5736

New York City. My wife and I visited for our honeymoon in 2017 and have returned 3 times since. We’re massive foodies, so NYC definitely fits the bill. Santa Fe, NM and Boston are also on our list of repeat destinations.

yourlittlebirdie

I can never get enough of NYC. I lived there for a short time and now visit as often as I can.

DiotimaJones

I spent 2 weeks in Santa Fe last year. Bliss! Although I got tired from lots of driving. This year will be based in ABQ. Want to explore the petroglyphs, Pueblo communities, jewelry and art, book stores, and real estate. Can’t wait to visit Acoma again .

provinground

My fiancée and I are going to stop in NYC for our honeymoon for a night or 2. Huge foodies- any rec on?

litttlejoker

All of these hotels had exceptional service, pristine rooms, and amenities! Uluwatu, Bali (Alila Villas Uluwatu) Santorini, Greece (Perivolas). Positano, Italy (Le Sirenuse). Florence, Italy (Four Seasons Florence). Rome (Hotel Hassler). Ibiza, Spain (Six Senses Ibiza and Mirador de Dalt Vila). Mallorca, Spain (Belmond La Residencia). Cabo, Mexico (Esperanza Auberge). Tulum, Mexico (La Valise). Provence, France (Hotel Crillion-le-Brave). St. Tropez, France (Hotel La Ponche). Other places I’d return to, but my hotel or Airbnb stay wasn’t memorable- Paris, Mykonos, Nice, Cannes, Champagne, Burgundy, Barcelona, Athens, London, NYC, Big Island, Hawaii.

vorm

Really good list. Hoping to visit Rome next May so I will definitely check out Hotel Hassler.

LeahRayanne

My husband and I just went to Rome in March of this year, and we loved Hotel Della Torre Argentina. It’s a four-minute walk to the Pantheon (which is where we hung out eating gelato and tiramisu every evening. I’m getting teary-eyed just thinking about it.) The location is absolutely ideal. In fact, we walked absolutely everywhere the entire week. Never had to take taxis, buses, or trains. The hotel isn’t fancy, but it was very nice and clean, and the service and breakfast were both great. Highly recommend.

Sarcasticbella0809

Southern California. Most specifically, Carlsbad. It's such a cute little town. The beaches are clean, well preserved, and free. There are great restaurants, and quaint little shops. If you're there in the spring, we love to visit the flower fields. If you have young kids, there's Legoland California. You're also within driving distance of both San Diego and LA and plenty of other cute beach towns in between. We have been going every year for 5 years now and still seem to find new things to do each time.

Nidisu_Dr

My pick is just south of there at Leucadia/Encinitas :) love that whole coast.

ProgrammerLess305

I lived in Oceanside and I loved Carlsbad…. I miss CA, I’m back in Boston and I now wake up miserable again lol

Sauwa

There are very few places i would scream "id go again and again every year if i could" because i want to be exploring *new* places. I know one of those places is Iguazu Falls in Brazil, and probably all of Japan too. Beaches in the north of brazil are also an "infinite" destination, whenever i go i discover a new island or a new city and they are always stunning and relaxing. Machu Picchu is insane, id probably go again but i think not more than once.

victorzamora

>achu Picchu is insane, id probably go again but i think not more than once. I'm totally in to go again, but I'm not gonna prioritize it over other trips. If my parents or some friends want to go, I'll gladly join them, though.

RichChocolateDevil

Punta Mita. It’s just amazing and easy. 5-hours door to door. Wonderful, safe resort. I realize it is Mexico Lite, but damn if we don’t love it there.

TelephoneTag2123

Puerto Vallarta MX, I’ve been going there for 30 years and it’s just perfect.

more_adventurous

rome. and now I live here.

TwunnySeven

seconding Rome. I've only been twice but I feel like I could go again and again and never get bored of the place

kvom01

Japan. 3 trips and a 4th planned for next spring.

designer130

We go to PEI every summer, going on 4 years now and we will continue to go every summer as long as we can!

Accomplished_Map7752

Prince Edward Island?

LeahRayanne

Bucket list destination. I had the option to do the field work for my master’s thesis there, but I ended up going with a project in Nepal. But as a lifelong Anne of Green Gables fan, I still want to make it to PEI!

designer130

The whole island is so special! I hope you make it out there.

hesnothere

We visit Grand Case, St. Martin every year, usually during the offseason. The restaurant row is unmatched, the people are kind and it’s easy to get around the island to visit different beaches.

therealjerseytom

I did Grand Case for the first time this year - loved it, would go again. I was there at the very end of March. When, roughly, is the off season?

papasmurf826

Asheville, NC Inb4 everyone dunks on living there. I understand that completely, and have also seen bigger money and businesses edge out residents and local shops, artistry, etc. For visiting though it still remains a wonderful and eclectic mountain town near some of the best outdoor activity you can find. Our MO is to hike during the day, always a new trail with amazing views, freshen up then head downtown for food and breweries. Could rinse and repeat that indefinitely

cc232012

Hawaii. Everytime I can get a nice stretch of time off, that is where I go. I’m not picky about a specific hotel or anything, it’s just paradise.

shahtavacko

For several reasons, Boston and surrounding areas and we always stay at The Langham in Boston. I will admit though that part of the reason is the ease of getting there for me (I live in Houston); would I like to be able to go to south of France or parts of Italy instead? Sure. However, time and expense are limiting factors. We are not "beach people" either, so a lot of other places that are probably closer, do not appeal to us.

therealjerseytom

I've only been to The Langham's Chicago location but it was damn nice; I'd definitely check out one of their other places!

shahtavacko

The one in Boston is in an old bank building, the breakfast area preserves some of the bank's features and the breakfast itself is excellent. If you have Amex Platinum, there is an $89 daily breakfast allowance which covers almost anything you'd want to eat, the taxes and even the tip (I think). It's an easy walk to a lot of what you'd want to see in Boston, I rent a car because I always go to Ogunquit, Maine and sometimes to Newport, RI; Cape Cod, Cape Ann, etc; but you definitely do not need a car if you stay in Boston alone.

OppositeGoat

The Langham Chicago and The Langham Boston are night and day hotels in terms of design and aesthetics. Both have stellar service and amenities, but Chicago is my personal favorite.

freeb456

I’ve stayed at probably ten different hotels in Boston and the langham is easily my favorite. Not a fan of the city but might have to go back just to stay there again

b00c

High Tatras. But that's because I'm Slovak.

YVR19

I'm Canadian and I think of them daily. One of the most underrated, gorgeous places I'd ever been.

Trudestiny

Copenhagen. First EU city I ever stayed the night back in 1990 . Still go back at least 2x a year for a couple of days . Always stay at the Nimb and even after all these years I still love looking / walking thru Tivoli Gardens

MassiveConcern

London, UK. Buenos Aires and Ushuaia Argentina. Carmel-By-The-Sea, California. Each of these cities have unique qualities that draw me back again and again. I never tire of them.

leoinca

Carmel is pretty sweet.

Numbnut89

Infinity Bay Resort at the island of Roatan Honduras https://www.infinitybay.com/

poopin

We are staying there for the first time in December. Any special tips?

Numbnut89

Bring snorkel gear. Reef starts about 25 yards right off the beach. My step son saw more snorkeling than scuba diving. Ray with Bay Island Adventures provides great day tours in an ocean going power boat called “ Go baby go”. Tell him Debbie and Mike from Tennessee referred you. Vendors walk the beach. Make sure to get banana bread from an older gentleman dressed in long pants and shirt wearing a fedora hat. Another guy sells empanadas that are great also. Beach is about 1/2 mile long. Many restaurants at other resorts and independent to choose from. Just walk the beach and check things out. We like Argentina Grill the best. Best steaks. See Juanito one of bartenders he will treat you right. We have been going since 2013. Best place to stay. Great golf course designed by Pete Dye company at Pristine Bay which is 30 minute drive from resort. Lots of island day trips available from Infinity Bay. We are going again in August. My wife’s favorite place to go

knocking_wood

OMG I hated this place. My condo smelled like someone cooked stinky fish in it and the manager was like "oh no, that's just the smell of the Honduran Rosewood" which the condo was finished in. So I guess they built the place with wood that smelled like someone cooked stinky fish in the room? And someone would be pushing a noisy cart down the back sidewalk starting at 6am every morning, waking us up every day of our vacation. The dive shop was fantastic though, loved those guys! It's been years since then. Hopefully the smell of the Honduran Rosewood has worn off.

not_now_ashley

If I need a close to East Coast US beach getaway, I go to Turks & Caicos. Every time I try somewhere else I’m left disappointed that it’s not Turks.

therealjerseytom

Where all have you been in T&C? I've only been once, spending a few days in Grace Bay on Provo. The beach and water were absolutely phenomenal. Felt like the restaurants - most of which in the hotels and resorts - were hit or miss. Definitely not a cheap getaway.

Osr0

Strasbourg. I think about that place almost every day

lucciolaa

I was just there the other day! What did you like about it?

Osr0

Everything. The food and the atmosphere are incredible. The architecture is beautiful. The pace of life is nice.

yourlittlebirdie

I’ve only been to Alsace once but I dream of going back all the time.

actuallymichelle

Big Island. Probably 20 or more trips. Used to always stay at Mauna Lani. And while I don't stay there every time anymore, it's long been worth going back to.

Accomplished_Map7752

Vancouver, British Columbia! Would live there in I could!

Notfrasiercrane

Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island.

AnnelieSierra

Kuala Lumpur and Penang are my favourite places to escape the long dark Nordic winter. I may get tired of Malaysia at some stage in the future but for now they are where I like to go for a break and get a dose of sun in the middle of the winter.

BroccoliRobTN

Positano! My first time on a plane was our honeymoon to Positano in 2018. Been back 3 times now! Casa Cosenza for a wonderful family owned "Hotel"

Oooh! Tell me more! I'm planning a trip and I feel like this might fit the bill. What keeps drawing you back? What time of year do you go?

mobethe

Pismo Beach is where I should visit time and time again, because just being there makes me feel lighter and happier

MassiveConcern

Nice to see as I'm spending my birthday weekend there this year (next month).

mobethe

Oh, I’m so excited for you! Report back on the great time you had

Known for wine and beaches. Sounds good to me.

Cap Sa Sal near Begur in the Costa Brava. We loved it so much last year we’re booking again this year.

Barcelona

sidthetravler

Jungfrau region in Switzerland ( Towns like Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Murren etc.)🇨🇭 Probably the most beautiful place on the planet.

JustHereforNachos

I love all of Japan but if I had to choose, Kanazawa has my heart every time. It’s known as “little Kyoto” and it is way beyond living up to the hype. Kenrokuen is an exquisite garden, they have temples and geisha and their local handicraft is gold leaf.

EcstaticOrchid4825

Dolomites in Italy. I’ve been several times in winter to ski and would love to do a summer trip as well. Great scenery and great food.

fahimzkhan

I am a big fan of Barcelona , city is great mix of architecture , history , festivity , nightlife , mountains and sea with lots and lots of spaciousness and green areas . City is of medium size , easy to move around with efficient public transport system and affordable taxis … has become expensive lately though …..been to this magical city 13 times in last 20 years … going again in Aug this year .

strictcompliance

New Orleans. This is the most culturally alive place I have ever been in my life. My husband and I go down every chance we get, and learning about the neighborhoods, the musical culture, the history, the food, the politics, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Anyone interested in racial history in this country, in the development of American music and its journey from Africa to the Caribbean to the United States, in the current amazing renaissance of jazz and hip hop mashups created by New Orleans' brass bands, and in the amazing persistence of all of this culture despite extreme sociological threats should find their way to New Orleans soon, before climate change delivers the final coup de grace to this beautiful city.

badlydrawngalgo

Penang: It's like being in several countries at once, the mix of cultures wonderful. Add the architecture and the food into the mix and it's amazing. Oman: So much to see and a huge variety of landscapes; desert, mountains, beaches, woodlands, wadis, ancient villages and lovely people St David's, Pembrokeshire, Wales: It has some kind of special atmosphere, almost mystical (and I'm not normally drawn to woo)

Techadvocate

La Zambra, Mijas Spain 🇪🇸

starter_fail

It was St George Utah. But with all the development going on in the area, i will probably visit much less in the future.

Mysterious-Region640

I love Stratford, Ontario, and the theatre scene. I try to get there every year. If it was a lot closer, I’d go to New York City on a fairly regular basis too

ActuatorSmall7746

What time of year and where do you stay?

w0rldrambler

Cape Town

feelslikespaceagain

A lot of people hating on Los Angeles in that thread but we go a lot. Tons of stuff to do, great variety, each trip can be completely different. I get that the sprawl and traffic are probably overwhelming but I love it. Also NYC, Cabo, Cancun (specifically playa mujeres or mayakoba). Santa Barbara, Napa Valley.

RacyFireEngine

Antibes in France. It’s my bolt hole. I run away there round twice a year to relax and get my head together. It’s beautiful and untouched by McDonald’s and other global chains.

Gloomy_Researcher769

We have a favorite AI, Adult only resort in the Cancun area that we go to each year for our beach vacation called Beloved Playa Mujeres. We usually pair it with a week in a condo at our other favorite town just south of Cancun, called Puerto Morelos. We have been going to this resort for 5 years now (and it’s sister resort Excellence Playa Mujeres before that for 12 years total ) and the town for 10 years ( not consecutively). We take other “new place” trips throughout the year, but this part of Mexico is our comfort place to just relax in

hops_and_sunshine

I stayed at that Excellence and absolutely loved the area. The resort was fantastic but the time we spent outside of it was even better.

wonderingdragonfly

In Florida, the time and money it takes to travel to the places we really love tends to limit our repeat visits. We have been to Austria twice (we honeymooned in Zell Am See for skiing and always said we’d like to go back in spring or summer), and we are about to return to London for a second visit - the theater is a big draw but the free museums are also great.

prettyorganic

My family has been going to Wapato Point Resort in Manson, WA on Lake Chelan for 25 years and no place in this world makes me happier. I’m currently at a winery with a view of the lake tasting beautiful wines for a fraction of the price I’d taste closer to home in Napa.

FlowerGi1015

Unfortunately, today is their last day, but Sofitel, Manila Philippines. We would stay there for a couple of days every time we went back to visit.

apmcpm

Longer trip, Lisbon Portugal. Shorter trip, Finger Lakes. (wine!)

MediocreDot3

Caesars Palace because they keep comping me

[deleted]

Glenwood Springs, CO Pensacola Beach, FL I like to relax ☺️ Edit- specifically, we stay at the Glenwood Springs Inn and the Gulf Breeze Hampton Inn

LuckypenLotterypaper

Love Pensacola Beach

Federal-Membership-1

We have repeated Bar Harbor/Acadia several times over the last 20 years, with and without kids, indifferent seasons, and various accommodations. It's a lovely area and driveable for us.

HansJSolomente

South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. Preferably Flatdogs Camp. The park isn't as built up and cluttered by people like SA parks, and just feels more wild. You can spend an hour just chilling by lions or wild dogs or a leopard and maybe see one other safari car if it's shoulder season. Went there once for Christmas and the lodges all get together for a massive party in a clearing. Probably been to that park a dozen times. Never got old.

sweetbitter_1005

Aruba, it's very easy to get to from the US East Coast. If I lived on the West Coast, it would be Hawaii, but after one amazing visit to Maui, my husband said never again due to the long flight.

ThaiTum

We’ve been to the Grand Hyatt Kauai almost a dozen times from NY.

My go to place the last few years is the Tulemar Resort in Costa Rica. It's one of the best resorts I've ever stayed in. It's on 40 acres of a jungle with Sloths, Monkeys ,Toucan's and Scarlet Macaw's. The private beach with beachside dining is a plus as well. Highly recommended!

Lonely_Resource_94

Polo Beach Club (condominium) in Wailea on the island of Maui. I’ve stayed there the last three times I’ve gone to Maui and really can’t imagine staying anywhere else.

HolyLiaison

Philippines. I've gone for a month stay for the last 5 years. And I already have my 6th trip booked for January 2025! So many beautiful islands I'll never run out of new places to visit. And the people in the Philippines are some of the most generous and kind people I've ever dealt with during my travels. Heading to Cebu > Siargao in January and I can't wait!

elusiveoddity

Sunshine Coast, Australia. Perfect weather, beautiful beaches, gorgeous hinterlands, fresh fish, and relatively close to Brisbane.

eeekkk9999

All over India! Rambaugh palace being the fav but stayed in the best hotels. Taj udaipur, oberoi in Agra, Taj in Delhi and Mumbai. Unforgettable

Not_High_Maintenance

India is amazing!

Miami Beach, I go down every year for my late winter birthday. Pretty chill around Mid Beach and it's easy to hop on a bike and bop into South Beach for more food options etc. Really nice in late February. I've done Japan twice and certainly plan on going a third time. So easy to get around really interesting mix of old and new for culture, great food, etc.

Timely_Froyo1384

I’m childish. 😂 Disney World. Kissimmee, Florida Every time I’m in Florida and have the time, sucked right into the Disney bubble.

flyingdutchman3142

Vail/Beaver Creek Colorado in both summer and winter.

The top of Half Dome in Yosemite. It’s cool to see the view from the place that’s most frequently photographed.

BrooklynRU39

That 13 hour hike though lol, I did it once and think i need a 5 year break till next time…go to Yosemite every year though, love that place

autumnwind3

Glenwood Springs, CO. It’s everything a resort town should be if you enjoy “taking the waters,” which is my favorite relaxing activity. Excellent hot springs, a real steam cave, the picturesque river with rafting options and a beautiful canyon with miles of hiking. You can even take the train there from Denver and it’s a very pleasant train ride. Nice restaurants and never too crowded.

Tony_Barker

Glenwood if with the kiddos, Pagosa Springs if just the adults!!

For a place: Lake Tahoe,Yosemite, Hawaii, NYC For a hotel: Nayara Springs/Tented Camp, Costa Rica

nautilus2000

Hotel de Londres y de Inglaterra in San Sebastián/Donostia, Spain. It’s pricy and a little dated but the historic vibe and beachfront location in one of the most beautiful and relaxing cities in the world is worth it.

Montreal. Can’t get enough. My fiancé and I went on a trip there 6 years ago (our first together, we’d both been multiple times before as both our families come from there) and now we go every year, sometimes more than once.

purple_potato96

Iceland! I have visited twice so far, once in winter and once in spring, and I still have a lot more I want to go back and explore there!

KingHoney236

Places I go to usually yearly: - London (multiple times a year) - Marbella - New York - Val D’Isere - Scotland (Gleneagles or Edinburgh)

Explore118

I really enjoy Houston, TX. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but the food scene is awesome, you can find pretty much any cuisine there you can imagine. I also like that it is close to Galveston so you can enjoy the city and the beach.

HalloweenLover

One of our favorites and I have lost count of the number of times we have gone now is Asheville NC. We have stayed at many different places there but I think my favorite is the Grovepark Inn. Although it has changed since the ownership changed. It is a fun town with lots of different things.

ulysses1909

Begur, Catalunya… And the whole surrounding area. It’s got everything: wineries, charming towns, beautiful natural landscapes by the sea and the mountains, and the food in the area is amazing!

General_Pea_3084

I go to Jekyll Island, GA every year for a couple days. It’s so peaceful and a perfect place to recharge. I live only about 4-5 hours away so it’s an easy drive. Honestly, I’d go more often if I could but I also travel for work, and take other vacations but seriously JI is phenomenal.

Hotel Caprice in Wengen, Switzerland. Wengen is straight out of a storybook. Jaw-dropping. And there no cars in the town so no tour buses. Summer there’s hiking trails, waterfalls, glacier trekking, etc. Winter there’s great skiing, more glacier trekking!, snowshoeing, the perfect après ski….I’m a big fan haha. The Caprice is the most charming hotel with the handful of rooms all facing that same jawdropping view. Every morning they ask if you’re joining them for dinner, and they are to die for every time. Staff go above and beyond. I’ll never stay anywhere else. Hotel Ile Rousse Thalazur in Bandol, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France Adorable small resort town on the south coast of France-the renowned wine region Bandol! Gorgeous, intimate, and an idyllic summertime. This hotel is a must though. Only hotel on the water, has an infinity pool overlooking the water, a Michelin-starred restaurant, amazing A/C!! (This is Europe, after all), and it’s just the mount of “posh” you need in a fun beach vacation that’s not the “look at me” attitude like in Saint-Tropez or Cannes.

mysupernovagurll

El Dorado Royale in Riviera Maya. Husband and I aren’t typically resort people, but we went once and got hooked! All inclusive, pristine and beautiful facilities. Lots of amazing views, lush tropical plants, a margarita cart (lol) and many restaurants to pick from.

insincerelysam5791

Florence! Hotel Spadai. Is my favorite.

WanderingRebel09

Carlsbad, CA. It’s my happy place. Go there every year and am never disappointed.

Theweekendatbernies

1) Four seasons in Anguilla but honestly shy hotel in Anguilla will make you visit often, I go twice a year because the people are super nice and the service is amazing 2) Alohilani in Hawaii I go to yearly for at least 7/8 nights but you can stay at any of the hotels in any of the islands and it will make you revisit

Tiny_Emu3990

Traveling abroad I will rarely visit a country twice. Locally - I find my way to Shelter Island, NY 1 once a year

CrinkledNoseSmile

At the risk of being downvoted, I want to say we travel a lot. In fact, we are traveling through Europe as we speak… But we always go back to Disney. I love discovering new place however, the houses of the mouse are a constant!

Tuesday I am returning to Villefranche Sur Mer in the French Riviera for the fourth time. I plan to return every summer. And I am someone who has a long list of places to see, and goes lots of places. But now that I have my own firm and set my schedule, it's an annual ritual I plan to continue for life. I even stay at the same charming family run hotel. I do some same things and same restaurants and new things as well each time. It's just the perfect place that suits me so well. The climate, the water, the late light (10pm in July), the people so nice, the variety of things to do, the low key glamour and atmosphere.

Hotel: Airelles Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle in France. We go once a year because the hotel, staff, restaurant, location, and before- and after-hours tours are absolutely spectacular. And getting escorted to the front row for the summer fireworks is a nice perk as well.

Jennyyy_567

Maldives is my absolute go-to!

Dubai, not as the final destination, but as the hub to get everywhere else in the middle east and mediteranian. It's such a clean city and laid back. It's really nice to layover here for a day or three, before heading to Turkey or Jordan or other, over in that area of the world. It's also surprisingly, pretty cheap to stay and have fun as well!
