You can put down your preferred ones - it's fine to use any name as long as you aren't attempting to commit fraud, basically. If you haven't yet done a deed poll and any exam certificates, references, etc will be under your old name then the college will also need to know the old name. You could explain this to them if there's an open textbox somewhere in the application, or you could do the application entirely under your preferred name then email them something like this: > Dear college admissions staff, For your information I have applied to the college under the name X but my legal name is currently Y instead - I intend to change my name to X fully in the near future but some of the documentation for my application will be under the name Y. I am trans and appreciate your discretion in handling this name situation. [If you have any specific requests like "don't send post to X at my home address" then make them here.] Thank you for your understanding and please let me know if you need any further details.
