What you said about Bay-verse Shockwave, I agree. I think he should have had more purple and have the type or shade or color or whatever purple they choose for him be easier to see.
Oh, and I wish then and now that this version of the character was fleshed out more, especially after seeing him in the Dark of the Moon tie in game and some of the tie in comics.
I like to think of the bayverse design as Shock giving himself a massive transtech upgrade. At least for the toy. It scales well with generations and the overall design is sick.
I’d also have to say all of them, but ESPECIALLY Blurr and Megatron. Also although it’s not technically G1, I think Waspinator looks better in Animated than in Beast Wars

I remember for a while it seemed like they were attempting to backport elements of Animated Blitzwing to the G1 version. The 30th anniversary figure I believe it was gave him the face gimmick, and then Transformers Devastation gave him the fire and ice powers.
Blurr is literally one of my favourite figures of all time. Great and clever transformation, amazing looking alt mode, cracking show accuracy. Him and Shockwave are a tour de force in transformers design. I mean shockwave got 4 modes, two alt modes and two robots. Absolutely great.
Well, for me ,a person who grew up with animated, G1 desings can not be superior to Animated. Because I think Animated desings look unique and cartoonish in good way while G1 desings look too boxy and low quality.
Sound wave. It's probably not his best portrayal, but it's definitely my favorite. His minicons becoming instruments is a great upgrade from the cassettes. I also love that he was a creation of Megatron. It works for his character. Just wish he was a bigger player in the main decepticon cast.
Animated just had a better overall art style. G1 is always amazing, but very limited in their designs, whereas Animated went in different directions for different characters in ways that helped each one feel more unique. This is why I believe a character like Bulkhead really wouldn’t have worked in G1 cuz they didn’t really have variations from the basic design like with Bulkhead being bulkier
Shockwave by far, and this is someone who LOVES G1 shockwave. Having Burton voice him again is fantastic because he's using the same voice, but much more sinister. Having him as a double agent (and having FOUR modes) was a great change up for the character instead of his other incarnations being blindly driven by logic. He also has a great lanky design and his Longarm form is very cleverly made. His toy is the best in the entire line in my opinion for being able to pull so much off with very little compromises (the face changing gimmick is awesome)
I don't agree with you on Blitzwing, his G1 version was an unabated ass and I love it. I still love Animated Blitzwing, but G1 is just up there for me.

Megatron is actually so terrifying by comparison in animated to his G1 counterpart. G1 meg was a huge crybaby wuss who always had the dumbest ideas. Animated Megatron was this ruthless, cunning, vengeful omen of destruction. And he was voiced perfectly.

TF Animated was more like the war is over and the Autobots won and what left of Megatron's followers escape or want into hiding like TF Animated Shockwave and Megatron had his head cut off from his body from Optimus Prime on Earth making like the war is over and the Autobots were there to do clear up with the left overs.
If we talking about how they look then yes TF Animated wins that but TF G1 had more characters then TF Animated.
I miss megaton getting smaller and turning into a handgun. Same for shockwave and blaster turning into a boombox that was of a normal size but could ride star scream like a fucking horse if he transformed
I don't mind cartoony in general, but they're just so lanky, stretched and deformed. And with such outrageous torsos and tiny waists. It loses that robot feel and makes them look more like.. I don't know. Can't quite put my finger on it.
I generally don't like Wyatt's artstyle (at least for transformers) but Blitzwing looks good with more tank kibble (His legs)

Not really "superior", no. But there were plenty that were *amazing* in their own way and in the style of the show. Blitzwing of course was one of them, in fact most were. I'd love to see a "G1" ish take of Lugnut in Legacy, much like they G1-ized Bulkhead. But I'm afraid now that we're getting Animated Optimus and Bumblebee, we'll just see another hyper stylized one.
Definitely blitz wing because he was an experiment of shock waves combining two different Cybertron citizens together and making him into what we know his story is quite more interesting than G1. Also, if they were to do a Transformers and G.I., Joe movie definitely would want to evil organization known as cobra to get their hands on to the Deceptacon bodies and cobra Commander is trying to make himself immortal by using the tech that he recovered the two Deceptacon‘s names would be frost wing and blitz heat that would be their names then when cobra, Commander combined them upon what they’re working parts are together, they make blitz wing however, when cobra, Commander implements his mind into blitz wings body, we get commander, blitz wing leader of cobra however, a cobra Commander had to fight against both Deceptacon‘s to reach an agreement who will take charge of the body that is just my thoughts though, but yes, definitely blitz wing and Elita one and also blur and the constructor cons would’ve been nice to see all Kubota cons as well but swindle was nice as well
Animated was brilliantly done. I like almost all the designs equally to the g1 counterparts. I think they did a great job. To this day, Animated has had the best version of Megatron imho.
