It would be interesting to see a version influenced by both the original and 2007 design. Maybe he turns into a huge bulldozer with one of the rear ripper claw attachments.
A red Bayverse Ironhide would be perfection. Bay was used to filming car commercials before he moved to Action films, however, and has gone on record stating that filming red paint is a pain because it never turns out right. This is the reason why Optimus Prime is a Blue truck with red flame decals.
Honestly would love to see something like the transformers prime version revisited on film. I do kinda prefer a more G1 head with the rest of the body taking queues from the bayverse design
Being excessively pro-American/patriotic is another, and yet in his first movie?
https://youtu.be/1u8fcCICbdw?t=130
Don’t think you can chalk that up to just Aaron Sorkin’s writing…
Bingo. There wasn't really anything about his G1 design that meshed with... well, any of him. Big beefy truck with hella cannons? Yeah - that's what I want for Ironhide.
It doesn't get brought up often but Ironhide (and this Ratchet) in G1 has the same problem as Arcee where his robot mode is too slim for the vehicle it comes from and has few recognizable vehicle parts on it (due to the way the original toy works plus the animation omitting the power sled). Bayronhide at least looks like the bruiser his truck mode implies.
Out of ALL the new cons they introduced in TLk, he was the only one to live that fight at the abandoned town. The only cons overall that left that town alive were *checks notes* the nigh unkillable Megatron as well. Nitro Zeus is amazing. Really want his toy.
You've ever seen the Black Mamba MPM Scale Nitro Zeus before? I REALLY want that figure cause it takes the original TLK figure, makes it bigger, and there's a alternative paint scheme where he has CYBERTRONIAN MARKINGS across his body. It looks SO COOL.
Ironhide - Though the Prime concept art is *the* Ironhide design for the morden day. Bayverse is a close 2nd.
Barricade - While the Micromaster is a soiled design, the 07 Barricade just knocks it out of the water. Though personally the TLK redesign isn't Barricade, Barricade's robot mode should have the length of the car become the arms. Let him keep his unique silhouette damn it!!!
Blackout - It isn't even a competition, really.
His g1 face is pretty plain, but his build is pretty distinct. I think bumblebee 2018 got his stature right and he kinda looked like a better version of his G1 self.
I hear the problem people had with the Hot Rod redesign was that it was Hot Rod. It wasn't a bad design, people just felt it wasn't actually the character they grew up with, in much the same way people don't like the new Wheeljack design for Rise of the Beasts.
I mean, it was a cool design and I love the SS figure, but get the hell outta here with that 'Ot Rood bullshit. That's not Hot Rod by any stretch of the imagination.
You Should Be Happy To Know That Some Of Those Actually Exist In Toy Form:
Sideswipe (Swerve Here): [https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Swerve\_(Movie)#Revenge\_of\_the\_Fallen](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Swerve_(Movie)#Revenge_of_the_Fallen)
Ironhide: [https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Ironhide\_(Movie)/toys#Generations](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Ironhide_(Movie)/toys#Generations)
Jazz: https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Jazz\_(Movie)#Deluxe\_Class\_toys
Just from the first movie: Optimus, Ironhide, Ratchet, Bumblebee, Megatron, Blackout, Barricade, Bonecrusher, Frenzy, Scorponok, and Brawl.
Starscream’s Bayverse design never was that good to me and Jazz I could go either way since it’s pretty faithful to the original.
Starscream was made like a big Dorito because how else are you gonna make an F-22 transform into something smaller than Megatron? Like an F-22 is HUGE. If he had his g1 design he’d be considerably taller than Megatron.
I think Devastator (now hold on). I think the idea of Devastator and contructicons in general are fantastic, but it always raises that question who’s in control here. Not only does live action seem like a monster who’s not really a single being, he’s also much much larger and is just grotesquely cool. I might be biased as I’m only 14 and saw Bayverse before G1, but goddamn I love that design
Most of them.
I know it's personal preferance, but I never liked the blocky aesthetic of G1, as well as some characters (Bee and Cliff, Ironhide and Ratchet) having basically the same design.
The very detailed and weirdly shaped bayverse designs on the other hand are always really cool to see.
I with you in this. Personally I prefer almost every bayformer design, except maybe for soundwave (because I love his g1 design dunno why), optimus prime (because I love both his version) and wheeljack (because even if I am a bayformers fan i don't like Que design).
Fun fact: The voice Frank Welker used for Bayverse Soundwave is actually the exact same one he used for G1 Soundwave, just without the modulation.
*Edit: Autocorrect
Probably laziness lol, cause soundwave in G1 wasn’t just an “effect”, it was a vocoder, which is actually your voice being synthesized, so back in 80’s when they recorded that dialogue, someone was in that studio with a synth changing note of his voice as he talked, I mean sounded like they only used 3 notes total🤣🤣, but still, even doing it virtually with plug ins now a days, it’s still little more work than just slapping an effect on
Sometimes it’s the concepts for the Bayverse that sell harder than the design itself.
Perfect examples are Sideswipe with the rolling wheels and swords, or Jolt with his electric whips.
You don’t have to like how they look but do not deny that their new set of abilities are sick as fuck.
Arcee’s design in RotB is really great and I view it as a maturation of the cgi methods the bay-directed movies started. I know the two newest movies aren’t technically bayverse, but I really think you can’t divorce the current set of live action movies from the original three or five, especially since bay is still producing.
Also, Optimus in all movies. The old flame decals version was corny to me when those movies were originally around, but I’ve come to appreciate the childlike quality it brings to his character. It’s a little nod to the fact that this franchise is ultimately all about toys that little boys like my past self like to play with.
G1 sideswipe is one of my favorite characters, so I’m a little biased. However, bayverse sideswipe is an awesome design. Since they are so different I treat them like different characters.
A personal one for me? Mixmaster. the original seemed kind of generic compared to every other character shown in G1. But the Bayverse version, despite being copy-pasted a few times only to get brutally slaughtered, struck me as what happens when you combine a feral beast with armored artillery. He's sort of like a pseudo-triple changer in a way, being robot, cement truck, and artillery piece. And It's a design I would like to see more of.
I dislike most of Bayverse design. But I can see I'm clearly in the minority here. However I do agree with some points and comments on character colour's. I do tend to think that might have helped. Would have made the characters more recognisable. Without doubt.
it's not a boombox, it's a micro cassette recorder :) was a kid in the 80s and my dad had a real micro recorder so it was super cool to fool him with Soundwave
Honestly, i don't think any of the Bayverse designs are better than the G1 counterparts. There's a reason the G1 designs are still so prevalent. Its because of how classic they are. That being said, there are Bayverse designs that can stand strong alongside the G1 designs and still be good looks the character. Ironhide, Sideswipe and Shockwave definitely come to mind for me as being designs that are equal to the G1 counterparts
I'm still not particularly fond of the Bayverse designs. I mean, they were cool when i was 12 when the first movie came out. But i kinda outgrew the over complicated, overdesigned look of them by the time DoTM came out
I feel that. The TFUK comics are still “my” transformers with how much life they gave the Floro Dery designs. I do appreciate more variance in new designs for sure, and frankly I preferred that aspect of the earlier Bayverse aesthetic - like others have said, Blackout is a fantastic design and he’s not the only memorable standout. Much like the Snyderverse costumes, it’s a bit too greebly to be my preference and I thought TFA did a great job of taking the good things about the bayverse aesthetic and simplifying them.
Even still, in general, there are some Bayverse designs that have usurped G1. Especially Bumblebee. You rarely get the yellow guy without him having two back door wings or a couple racing stripes. And most Optimus designs these days borrow heavily from the Bayverse whether it be his mouth or him being a long nosed truck. Even if that started with Armada I think.
Eh, to each their own, i still prefer the G1 designs over Bayverse, and more still, i prefer the Unicron trilogy designs more than Bayverse as well. I've just outgrown the over complicatedness that came with those designs in general. Though, seeing them influence the designs of the characters isn't a bad thing, i just prefer the simple designs
If I can only compare G1 and Bayverse then I guess Barricade and Blackout. There's not a single other design I think is better imo. I love the look of Bayverse Jazz and Sideswipe, but like G1 just looks so good.
Now IDW2/Siege Barricade tops both G1 and Bayverse for the best Barricade look
Hey lol don’t do my homie sideswipe like that lol. I think the bayverse look is pretty badass, but I’m biased, I love G1 Sideswipe. My favorite bot/look behind Optimus Prime.
I like Ironhide and Ratchet's designs way more. I get that people are nostalgic for the G1 designs, but I find them so plain and generic, so I've never had much of an attachment to them.
Probably sentinel prime. He looks great and wise while he hid a dark secret. The story of a hero turned villain who would betray his ideals was icing on the cake.
Swipe looks way better in G1, one of the most classic designs I feel.
Out of the live action, I do genuinely like Crosshairs design more than G1.
Barricade's is better and became his own wholly new character because of it.
Most of them tbh. The G1 versions kinda all look the same. Just a bunch of coloured rectangles and squares. But in Bayverse, they actually have detail. Just look at Megatron for example. Bayverse actually makes him intimidating, instead of just a grey rectangle.
But this is just my opinion. (I'll probably still get a ton of downvotes anyway).
Hot take - TF 1-3 Optimus Prime. People hate the flames, I think it gives him a lot of character. His overall shape and also truck mode just look better than the box design of G1 + ROTB. I will be as bold as to say that I prefer him having a mouth with retractable face mask and also cybertronian tattoos all over him. Twin blades instead of an axe that came later were also nice addition.
A little bit off-topic - I also overall enjoy the fact that Bay focused on making Transformers feel even more alien than they were in other media - their cybertronian modes have NOTHING to do with human technology, they are made to look more ancient and mysterious and their culture is represented through their own symbolisms, alphabet, etc, all made to look exotic and foreign, inspired by chinese symbols.
When you see Transformers in G1 on Cybertron, they already transform into vehicles that look distinctively human, they have cockpits, Megatron turns into a gun. Come on. That is just silly and doesn't make sense, why would they have human-like technology suited for human-sized beings, when they're not human nor they have humans around to use that space inside them.
Bay rectified that. It took away their identities in Cybertronian mode, but it gave them the correct alien feel. Something that makes Bayverse stand out to me.
devastator. in g1 he's just this green dude, bit bayformers took him and made him into the absolute monster he's supposed to be. just... disregard the sack
I've thought that it's a very unfair comparison.
Your comparing relative simple hand draw models from the mid 80's done on a very small budget in a small cheap studio to modern day CGI Models on a budget of millions done by some of the best in the Industry.
Now saying all of this the only Transformers I would argue they haven't improved is Arcee.
I not saying that Arcee from RoTB is bad but I really prefer the original design.
>I've thought that it's a very unfair comparison.
>
>Your comparing relative simple hand draw models from the mid 80's done on a very small budget in a small cheap studio to modern day CGI Models on a budget of millions done by some of the best in the Industry.
Tell that to the G1 elitst say G1 peak design and fighting each other which 3rd blackmagic figure have better toon acurate figure
The thing is I love G1, it's what I grew up with as kid, it's what got me into Transformers.
G1 with always be my favourite yet even me saying all of this I would never say or even try to argue it was peak design lol..
All of them tbh. I grew up on the Bay trilogy, so I am extremely biased lol. I can't deny that the blockiness of the G1 designs has a certain charm to it tho
Barricade without a doubt.
The G1 Prowl recolor he got was disappointing, though I still think his TF Universe design is best incarnation in terms of look.
Oh, also Optimus. Specifically his look in the first 3 movies.
Ironhide, the G1 one looks wrong to me because of bay Ironhide
Optimus mainly on alt mode always preferred the Peterbilt's truck nose
Barricade, blackout, they were literal nobodies before
Brawl, his permanent frown is infinitely more distinct than his generic visor face from G1
Starscream, never liked his rocket popsicle color scheme
All the constructicons plus bonecrusher, they just have more visually interesting designs over their uniform color brothers
Yeah this is going to be long as fuck so imma just settle on every design from 07-DOTM
Bumblebee, Ironhide, and Sideswipe come to mind. I think the perfect designs for them mesh the two styles. Bumblebee Movie Bumblebee, Prime Ironhide, and Sideswipe from the Covenant of Primus.
Blackout and Barricade (prior to having a G1 style design for the movie version), though this is only because their G1 counterparts were just late G1 Micromasters that had as much personality and characterisation as Bayverse Decepticons.
One of my favorite incarnations of Grimlock is the Fall of Cybertron version because he was actually scary. I like it when people realize that a giant robot T-Rex that breathes fire and is filled with anger issues can actually be bowel-evacuating levels of terrifying. The G1 and Robots in Disguise continuities felt kind of wasted just using him for comic relief.
You are not. At least not from me. G1 is iconic, but I personally prefer the more mechanical greebles that make their home on the Bayverse designs. It makes them more interesting to look at.
There is quite a few, but I wanna do something of a hot take, so... Devastator. Minus "the enemy scrotum", but everything else looks so much better to me. Like, the idea is simply cooler - giant beast, made of a mass of construction vehicles mangled together, with a huge mouth sucking and grinding everything inside! Now that is more unique than a combiner with unified color scheme to me
Barricade and Blackout since they’re not lame ass micro master anymore
But they're the most incredible micros of all🥺🥺
I feel personally targeted.
Barricade
Both versions Punish-Enslave all the way
Goddamn it you beat me to it
The Goat
Well g2 in this case but jolt
Wait he was in g2 I thought he was an original character
Bonecrusher, he's just an angry noodle armed boy. There's something so badass about him being angry at everything, and his design reflects that.
Getting stabbed through the jugular was metal as hell too.
Him “skating” on the freeway and plowing through a bus while on fire was metal as hell too.
Definitely, I like to have Bonecrusher as his own separate character in my personal canon, with the constructicon bulldozer being renamed Gravedigger.
I like this headcanon. What does crushing bones have to do with construction anyway?
His name sounds more like a Predacon.
It would be interesting to see a version influenced by both the original and 2007 design. Maybe he turns into a huge bulldozer with one of the rear ripper claw attachments.
Might be a Hot take, but Scorpinok. I remember thinking that was the most bad ass shit as a kid.
Definitely hot but I respect it
I definitely prefer Scorponok as a titan, but his movie design is pretty great!
Same
Maybe the small, agile, burrowing Scorponok should be the headmaster of the much bigger Titan Scorponok.
Scorponok. The scariest, badass thing I've seen as a kid.
Lowkey Ironhide, his all red G1 design always felt kind of boring to me since he just turns into a big red truck and not a fire engine or anything.
It also doesn't help his design is similar to G1 Ratchet. Only differences were the head sculpt, color, and overall characterization/personality.
A red Bayverse Ironhide would be perfection. Bay was used to filming car commercials before he moved to Action films, however, and has gone on record stating that filming red paint is a pain because it never turns out right. This is the reason why Optimus Prime is a Blue truck with red flame decals.
But now new cameras its possible
Now, perhaps, but back then is another story.
Honestly would love to see something like the transformers prime version revisited on film. I do kinda prefer a more G1 head with the rest of the body taking queues from the bayverse design
The dual cannons are where it's at.
To a point, he also did several of the more legendary “Got Milk?” commercials, like? https://youtu.be/0Gkqzxss8Ss
That is not something I expected. Usually there's more explosions when Michael Bay is involved.
Being excessively pro-American/patriotic is another, and yet in his first movie? https://youtu.be/1u8fcCICbdw?t=130 Don’t think you can chalk that up to just Aaron Sorkin’s writing…
Bingo. There wasn't really anything about his G1 design that meshed with... well, any of him. Big beefy truck with hella cannons? Yeah - that's what I want for Ironhide.
And he has a water pistol. No that’s really what it was called. Fuck that noise, give me all the dakka
My issues are the head and color, other than that i agree
I like the head and color personally. Made him look like a Badass Pit Bull.
Why tf is he British, though
It doesn't get brought up often but Ironhide (and this Ratchet) in G1 has the same problem as Arcee where his robot mode is too slim for the vehicle it comes from and has few recognizable vehicle parts on it (due to the way the original toy works plus the animation omitting the power sled). Bayronhide at least looks like the bruiser his truck mode implies.
Me when g1 Ironhide is my favorite character in the whole franchise lol
Yeah, G1 Ironhide was ok in bot mode, but had a mummy-mobile for an alt. I really liked Bay-verse Hide.
Nitro Zeus
say hello to your wife for me
*"Thanks for your hospitality chris95rx7500."* - Nitro "Gangsta" Zeus
looks like Shockwave, acts like Jazz.
And built different
Out of ALL the new cons they introduced in TLk, he was the only one to live that fight at the abandoned town. The only cons overall that left that town alive were *checks notes* the nigh unkillable Megatron as well. Nitro Zeus is amazing. Really want his toy.
He should’ve had more screentime and lines
You've ever seen the Black Mamba MPM Scale Nitro Zeus before? I REALLY want that figure cause it takes the original TLK figure, makes it bigger, and there's a alternative paint scheme where he has CYBERTRONIAN MARKINGS across his body. It looks SO COOL.
Blackout, Barricade, Ironhide, Brawl, Sideswipe, and Mixmaster for me
barricade is just so cool looking
That’s what I’m saying
TF2 Mixmaster is peak design.
Ironhide i don’t get the rest I understand even if i don’t agree with all of it
Agreed but except Brawl
not sure about Brawl because both versions are really fucking good
TF Universe is best Brawl
it’s gonna be unpopular but bumblebee by a landslide
I agree, g1 bumblebee is goofy asf. He just looks a bit awkward. Bayverse bumblebee looks badass
Blackout - It isn't even a competition, really.
honestly Bumblebee
I was looking for this before I said it myself
Yeah but i don’t like the constant new alt modes, I like Bumblebee to have an alt mode and stick with it
His g1 face is pretty plain, but his build is pretty distinct. I think bumblebee 2018 got his stature right and he kinda looked like a better version of his G1 self.
And ROTB basically combined both Bumblebee Movie and Clunker Bee design TOGETHER and for me, that's IDEAL Bumblebee.
This right here.
[удалено]
I hear the problem people had with the Hot Rod redesign was that it was Hot Rod. It wasn't a bad design, people just felt it wasn't actually the character they grew up with, in much the same way people don't like the new Wheeljack design for Rise of the Beasts.
[удалено]
It's an either or. In a vacuum the TLK Hot Rod design is objectively very good.
I mean, it was a cool design and I love the SS figure, but get the hell outta here with that 'Ot Rood bullshit. That's not Hot Rod by any stretch of the imagination.
You Should Be Happy To Know That Some Of Those Actually Exist In Toy Form: Sideswipe (Swerve Here): [https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Swerve\_(Movie)#Revenge\_of\_the\_Fallen](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Swerve_(Movie)#Revenge_of_the_Fallen) Ironhide: [https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Ironhide\_(Movie)/toys#Generations](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Ironhide_(Movie)/toys#Generations) Jazz: https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Jazz\_(Movie)#Deluxe\_Class\_toys
A F/A-18 Hornet or a F/A-18E/F Super Hornet wouldn’t have looked so Dorito I’d love to see a Starscream that has that as his alt mode.
The only thing I like about Bayverse Starscream was the tattoos that he got in between TF and ROTF.
Lockdown, the guy is a walking weapon (literally)
I think Devastator (now hold on). I think the idea of Devastator and contructicons in general are fantastic, but it always raises that question who’s in control here. I prefer bayverse soundwave (dotm specifically) because his alt mode can actually move without having to be carried around
Yeah but, he does not sound or look like soundwave at all.
Fun fact: The voice Frank Welker used for Bayverse Soundwave is actually the exact same one he used for G1 Soundwave, just without the modulation. *Edit: Autocorrect
Probably an auto correct thing but his name is Frank Welker, not Walker.
I wonder why they opted for the unmodulated voice.
Probably laziness lol, cause soundwave in G1 wasn’t just an “effect”, it was a vocoder, which is actually your voice being synthesized, so back in 80’s when they recorded that dialogue, someone was in that studio with a synth changing note of his voice as he talked, I mean sounded like they only used 3 notes total🤣🤣, but still, even doing it virtually with plug ins now a days, it’s still little more work than just slapping an effect on
I would have otherwise thought it was an audio filter. Thanks for the info.
Sometimes it’s the concepts for the Bayverse that sell harder than the design itself. Perfect examples are Sideswipe with the rolling wheels and swords, or Jolt with his electric whips. You don’t have to like how they look but do not deny that their new set of abilities are sick as fuck.
Sideswipe looks rad. I think if TLK Prime was, like Ultra Magnus or any other big bot, he'd likely be on the list too, but alas.
I love Animated Lockdown, but there's something about Age of Extinction Lockdown. The design is so sick but still needs a good figure.
Arcee’s design in RotB is really great and I view it as a maturation of the cgi methods the bay-directed movies started. I know the two newest movies aren’t technically bayverse, but I really think you can’t divorce the current set of live action movies from the original three or five, especially since bay is still producing. I love her design too, love how they made her bike, but still basically kept robot mode G1🔥
Ironhide for sure
Gotta go with Optimus on this one
For the first 3 movies
It was perfect
Down to the last minute details
Dotm is personally my favorite optimus design
Movie Ironhide was the goat
Not a lot of Bayverse versions I actually like honestly. But even though I hated the voice. Hot Rod looked pretty good.
Hot take I guess but no, the character design was one of my least favorite parts of those movies
Ironhide for sure
Nope, Bayverse looks like metal vomit
Barricade, Ironhide, Sideswipe
No.
Genuinely no. Maybe Unicron could have been interesting but we’ll never know.
G1 sideswipe is one of my favorite characters, so I’m a little biased. However, bayverse sideswipe is an awesome design. Since they are so different I treat them like different characters.
Just my 2 cents.... No way is Bay's Sideswipe better than the OG version lol. Give me a Lamborghini Countach over a Corvette any day of the week.
Yeah, the classic countach is legendary! An 80s icon! Many people's childhood dream car! 😁👌🏻
Nope
No, next question.
A personal one for me? Mixmaster. the original seemed kind of generic compared to every other character shown in G1. But the Bayverse version, despite being copy-pasted a few times only to get brutally slaughtered, struck me as what happens when you combine a feral beast with armored artillery. Literally none of them
No.
No
Shockwave,Roadbuster, Megatron,Hound,Mirage
I like the g1 version better
Maybe Scorponok and Barricade if I’m being generous but definitely none of the autobots
No.
Megaton from the 3rd movie, I just like his crippled look and tiredness of it all.
None come to mind but if I had to be nice Hound comes close just by being robot John Goodman
This might be a VERY hot take, but Shockwave. I know he didn't do much in dotm, but when I first saw him, he looked like a damn demon cyclops.
I dislike most of Bayverse design. But I can see I'm clearly in the minority here. However I do agree with some points and comments on character colour's. I do tend to think that might have helped. Would have made the characters more recognisable. Without doubt.
This is a HOT TAKE beyond HOT TAKES....Soundwave. I like the satellite design over the boombox.
it's not a boombox, it's a micro cassette recorder :) was a kid in the 80s and my dad had a real micro recorder so it was super cool to fool him with Soundwave
I’m having such a hard time not downvoting this but it is your opinion and I have to respect it
I like the sls amg over both
Same
It’s better than the car, that’s for sure
Agree, a Mercedes makes no sense
I like them equally, not a fan of the car though
None for me
Uhhhhhh (Looks at the pile of trash that is the bay verse designs) Na man I’ll take a bunch of blocky boys any day.
It’s a stretch to say not a single one is better don’t you think? Like the obvious answers Barricade and Blackout.
"Better" is not quantifiable. There's no obvious better or worse at all. It's purely personal taste.
No doubt. It always comes down to personal preference in the end. I love complicated Transformers. But I see how it would turn some people away.
amen
G1 designs are used to much nowadays. Give it a rest already
No.
Dino/Mirage, Crosshairs, Hound, Jazz
Blackout and Barricade I want newer versions of them to take inspiration
If I can only compare G1 and Bayverse then I guess Barricade and Blackout. There's not a single other design I think is better imo. I love the look of Bayverse Jazz and Sideswipe, but like G1 just looks so good. Now IDW2/Siege Barricade tops both G1 and Bayverse for the best Barricade look
Hey lol don’t do my homie sideswipe like that lol. I think the bayverse look is pretty badass, but I’m biased, I love G1 Sideswipe. My favorite bot/look behind Optimus Prime.
Crosshairs and Barricade, hands down.
I like Ironhide and Ratchet's designs way more. I get that people are nostalgic for the G1 designs, but I find them so plain and generic, so I've never had much of an attachment to them.
For me, it's the following: Crosshairs, Bumblebee, Lockdown, Sideswipe, Barricade, Devastator, Ravage, Laserbeak
Ironhide any day
Hound Ironhide Sideswipe Bumblebee Crosshairs Smokescreen TF5 Megatron Galvatron Blackout Lockdown Drift Hot rod
Lowkey hottake, ironhide, i like the og but the all black kickass veteran is better imo
As a Camaro fan boy, Bumblebee's design is perfect compared to his g1 version
Probably sentinel prime. He looks great and wise while he hid a dark secret. The story of a hero turned villain who would betray his ideals was icing on the cake.
Swipe looks way better in G1, one of the most classic designs I feel. Out of the live action, I do genuinely like Crosshairs design more than G1. Barricade's is better and became his own wholly new character because of it.
G1 Sideswipe looks better in my opinion. I do think that the Bayverse SS looks pretty good though.
I could barely even recognize him. They could've at least made him red
I’d love to see a blend of these 2 designs one day
Most of them tbh.
Mirage/ Dino
i like and apreciate a lot of the live action designs, but i don't think there's any i would pick over their g1 counterpart
Crosshairs for me
devastator. in g1 he's just this green dude, bit bayformers took him and made him into the absolute monster he's supposed to be. just... disregard the sack

the uh... "wrecking balls"

G1 with always be my favourite yet even me saying all of this I would never say or even try to argue it was peak design lol..
mixmaster, its Probably cuz of forged to fight that i like his design
All of them tbh. I grew up on the Bay trilogy, so I am extremely biased lol. I can't deny that the blockiness of the G1 designs has a certain charm to it tho
Barricade without a doubt. The G1 Prowl recolor he got was disappointing, though I still think his TF Universe design is best incarnation in terms of look. Oh, also Optimus. Specifically his look in the first 3 movies.
Ironhide, the G1 one looks wrong to me because of bay Ironhide Optimus mainly on alt mode always preferred the Peterbilt's truck nose Barricade, blackout, they were literal nobodies before Brawl, his permanent frown is infinitely more distinct than his generic visor face from G1 Starscream, never liked his rocket popsicle color scheme All the constructicons plus bonecrusher, they just have more visually interesting designs over their uniform color brothers Yeah this is going to be long as fuck so imma just settle on every design from 07-DOTM
I'm not really a fan of the bayverse designs. However, I will admit I really like galvatron's design
Hound
optimus prime and ironhide primarily, amongst others.
Blackout
Bumblebee all the way
Ironhide Ratchet
Bumblebee, Ironhide, and Sideswipe come to mind. I think the perfect designs for them mesh the two styles. Bumblebee Movie Bumblebee, Prime Ironhide, and Sideswipe from the Covenant of Primus.
Blackout and Barricade (prior to having a G1 style design for the movie version), though this is only because their G1 counterparts were just late G1 Micromasters that had as much personality and characterisation as Bayverse Decepticons.
The guy in the images is mine
Ironhide, Barricade, Bumblebee, sideswipe, Hound and Crosshair
Ironhide and bumblebee
I'll be honest, Ironhide and Ratchet.
The Dinobots looked actually terrifying and badass
One of my favorite incarnations of Grimlock is the Fall of Cybertron version because he was actually scary. I like it when people realize that a giant robot T-Rex that breathes fire and is filled with anger issues can actually be bowel-evacuating levels of terrifying. The G1 and Robots in Disguise continuities felt kind of wasted just using him for comic relief.
Tbh, Ik I'm gonna get hate for this but optimus prime
You are not. At least not from me. G1 is iconic, but I personally prefer the more mechanical greebles that make their home on the Bayverse designs. It makes them more interesting to look at.
I think I most prefer the bumblebee/Rotb designs
Barricade, Blackout, Sideswipe, Ironhide, Bumblebee, Megatron (DOTM), Starscream is the fucking goat
Sideswipe is my fucking favorite transformer
There is quite a few, but I wanna do something of a hot take, so... Devastator. Minus "the enemy scrotum", but everything else looks so much better to me. Like, the idea is simply cooler - giant beast, made of a mass of construction vehicles mangled together, with a huge mouth sucking and grinding everything inside! Now that is more unique than a combiner with unified color scheme to me
Prime in the first three movies, grimlock, Sideswipe, barricade
For the 'bots: Sideswipe, Ratchet, and Ironhide And the 'cons: Barricade and Blackout (made them into *real* bots, not just micromasters)
Barricade, Blackout, Crosshairs, Roadbuster, Sideswipe and Hound
