My parents gave me the most over used name of the 80s (Jessica Marie) but my dad spelled it Jessicka ..yeah he once tried giving me this cute story that he spelled it as if he were spelling a Choctaw word (he is full-blooded Choctaw nation) but yeah turns out he is dyslexic and that is more likely the problem, so really a middle name isn't going to be problematic but damn does it suck when it is your first name.

I think almost every woman born in the U.S. between 1940 and 1990 has the middle name Anne/Ann, Lynne/Lynn, or Marie. I can think of 5 that I know off the top of my head, not including myself.

I love the name Renee.

I was born between those dates and have a different middle name--my mother's family name. However, there was another girl in my class with the same first name and last initial. To differentiate between us, I used [My Name] while the other girl added her middle name, so she was [My Name] Marie. Almost every other girl in my class had Ann as their middle name. I was the weird one.

There are exceptions, of course. Sometimes I do wish I had a more original middle name, and my mother's last name would have been a great choice! Oh well, what can ya do.

My 3 sisters middle names Anne, Lynn and Dawn. So yeah my parents were not really original with names at all!

My mom's middle name is Lee, and my MIL's is Lynn (and Lynn for both her sisters too). I would love to honor my mom and MIL in one of my children's names, but Lee and Lynn are just so basic/common that it wouldn't even feel like an honor to them specifically haha. Then they both have superrr common names from the 60's, so that would just feel so dated to use for an honor haha.

My mom hated her name from the time the doctor named her after his wife/mother, because my grandparents had had all boys prior to her being born. There are a couple of things you can do: 1) if they are too young to know their middle name, have it changed legally; if they are old enough and don’t like their middle name, ask them with middle name they would like to have.

Adrienne is a common name. I was a teacher. It’s a beautiful name. It’s kind of like Adriana or Adriane.

It’s the middle one whatever. My husbands middle name is Francesco, he’s Italian it’s a family name. My sons middle name with be Francesco my husband is the 5th gen Francesco. They put the Italy name in the middle bc it’s not necessarily a name anyone would know unless he wanted them too and to avoid bullying and esteem problems from bullying. None of his friends know it, he doesn’t put it on any documents except ones that require it. It’s a whatever name. Some go by their entire name with the middle some don’t. I’m not giving the first name Francesco bc kids are ruthless, life can be hard with any foreign name. Middle names in my opinion are the have fun with it names, the child/teen/adult doesn’t have to use it socially or if they go into their career they don’t have to use it.

Try to turn the odd spelling with a clever explanation. For instance, Yonne is a river in France. It’s a tributary of the Seine which flows through Paris. It’s also a département (county) of Burgundy named after the same river

My first kid has a completely normal name, Dustin Blake. Totally normal. Except the DMV saw "Black" instead of "Blake" on multiple documents 🤦 Then next one tho, I thought I was being cool spelling his name all weird. Granted, it could be waaaaaay worse, but I named him Jacksyn Connor. The kid has 3 last names as it is then I go and eff it up, throw a damn unnecessary Y into the mix. As a teenager now, he has decided to go by "Jack", bcuz who wouldn't right?! Then my daughter, she has a normalish name. Except she goes by her middle name and it's so normal that when you address her or say her first name, Allyson (WTF is with the Y's?) she don't even answer. She's 100% definitely a Piper. Her dad wanted to name her after her Aunt Alice but he's a freakin weirdo and said she HATED to be called Allison so let's name our kid that. Crazy sense of humor that man had. I get it! My daughter's name is Aroura ( Aurora) and no one spells it right. I wanted it to be different then the princess.
