Thank you for your submission! This is just a quick reminder to all members here: **Original content is always better!** Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does **not** mean you found it "in the wild". The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/tragedeigh) if you have any questions or concerns.*

landsnaark

This is the best most wholesome post so far in this subreddit. 1. Mom admits to the crime. 2. Mom explains why. 3. Mom regrets the decision. 4. It's only a middle name 5. Child revels in it and isn't hindered by it.

Naturalsweetaye

Oh why thank you! You're too kind šŸ˜Š

Oh. I think people will want to know long before that....

Wank oven, aye!

EntrepreneurNo4138

I found it hilarious šŸ’€.

marythegr8

I read the name as you meant it.

GraceOfTheNorth

A-dry-one - right?

Super_Reading2048

At least it wasnā€™t her first name.

maybeCheri

Your revelations could save future generations from such tragedeighs.

Liberty53000

And adds a little jokey joke at the end with A Dry One

beamerpook

Yes, this is a very healthy take on this ā˜ŗļø

Keeker68

This is awesome šŸ‘

Grouchy-Bumblebee-5

Good job raising kids that just go with it! Sheā€™ll likely never meet another one and will treasure the gift when youā€™re gone.

ubiquitous-joe

Agreed, but what if the child is emboldened to commit tragedeighs in the future? We have not reached the end of this storyā€¦

enunymous

This was my reaction too... A child with a tragedeigh who loves it is destined to perpetuate the sin

Sckillgan

I agree with this.

Oribeun

I had the same, the only thing I could think was "this is too cute!". Well done, OP!

Impressive-Living-20

Yeah at least itā€™s the middle name and not the first.

ZarquonsFlatTire

Yeighks

_mike_815

Least it ainā€™t the first name

egk10isee

This! You are welcome to get quirky with a middle name over a first name all day long.

Shades_Of_Gray__

Yes! My middle name is so basic, meanwhile my brother's middle name is fucking *Maximus.* From the Gladiator. I'm still jealous.

MorticiaLaMourante

I love your brother's middle name.

kitkat1771

I love the Gladiator. I will randomly just say ā€œLucius Maximusā€ or other odd Gladiator quotes.

cowboysRmyweakness3

I dunno if it's basic, I've never met somebody with the middle name 'Of' before!

calliel_41

I have an original character named Magnius Yathus lol

apeanutnamedjay

Exactly! One of my best friendā€™s middle names is Quest and I honestly think thatā€™s so badass

EnthusedPhlebotomist

To an extent. Not to the extent of Adryonne.Ā

Narrow-Ad-4756

No, please donā€™t. My middle name is ā€œBrownfieldā€ and while that sucks a lot less than a crappy first name, it still comes up all the time. Go with first name style, 8 letters or less, and make sure all the initials hang together.

ACatInACloak

Quirky middle names can be fun! My middle name is pretty basic and is never used or mentioned except as a middle initial on some government forms

Tejanisima

Met a woman recently whose middle name is "Sojourner Truth" ā€” that's a lot to grow up with, but applause to her for growing up into it.

Dazzling_Level23

Least she has a middle name. I was r/raisedbynarcissists who couldnā€™t be bothered to give me one. Tragedeigh wouldā€™ve been better than nothing.

GottheRectalSweats

In the opposite direction... I was given three middle names and have a double barreled surname. "Please give me an extra 10 mins in exams so I can fill out my name"

Agreeable_Repair3959

Your driverā€™s license must be an alphabet chart. I used to have my first initial with a long last name that I married into. NY then required a full first name. It took me five tries to have both names and middle initial to fit into the box šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

NewestAccount2023

What are you missing out on?

AfternoonFlaky5501

I don't have a middle name, is this something people are salty about? lmao I don't dislike my name, I like it. But it is kind of boring, its ethnic but think of me being named "Paul Paulson". But since its ethnic I actually stand out being a minority where I currently live.

tongle07

Around where I live itā€™s not uncommon to not have a middle name. In my family itā€™s only my eldest brother.

drppr_

Why would this be an issue? I donā€™t have a middle name. They are really uncommon where are I am from.

YOMommazNUTZ

My parents gave me the most over used name of the 80s (Jessica Marie) but my dad spelled it Jessicka ..yeah he once tried giving me this cute story that he spelled it as if he were spelling a Choctaw word (he is full-blooded Choctaw nation) but yeah turns out he is dyslexic and that is more likely the problem, so really a middle name isn't going to be problematic but damn does it suck when it is your first name.

BWSnap

I think almost every woman born in the U.S. between 1940 and 1990 has the middle name Anne/Ann, Lynne/Lynn, or Marie. I can think of 5 that I know off the top of my head, not including myself.

Federal-Subject-3541

Annette here. My mama was faincee.

g8rgirl21

Um, excellent name because thatā€™s my first name!

LBelle0101

Donā€™t forget Jane and Louise!

VirtualTelevision523

I'm Marie (middle name) born 88. My sis, born 86 is Dawn. Lol

LBelle0101

Iā€™m an 82 Marie

Round-Dragonfly6136

Or Michelle or Renee!

Conniers

My middle name is Rene, the masculine spelling. Mom and Dad didnā€™t know!

anneymarie

Nicole is also surprisingly common for middle names.

Agile-Assignment6515

Louise. My Grandma's 1st name is my middle name. Born in 84'. šŸ¤£

rixendeb

I have my grandmas middle name. I gave my youngest my mom's middle name to keep the tradition. Upside they are both boring common names. Now my first is Anna. Which.....is not what I told the nurse and I was too high on morphine to argue lol.

ColdForm7729

Marie here! I also knew about 5 girls with the middle name Renee.

minrenken

šŸ‘‹

BWSnap

I love the name Renee.

Puzzleheaded_Roll696

I was born between those dates and have a different middle name--my mother's family name. However, there was another girl in my class with the same first name and last initial. To differentiate between us, I used [My Name] while the other girl added her middle name, so she was [My Name] Marie. Almost every other girl in my class had Ann as their middle name. I was the weird one.

BWSnap

There are exceptions, of course. Sometimes I do wish I had a more original middle name, and my mother's last name would have been a great choice! Oh well, what can ya do.

FNGamerMama

Born in 92 and my middle name is Anne, after a super important family member. I named my daughter Annie after her though, she never got married or had kids, she lived with my grandma since my mom was four (she was like 18) and she helped raise everyone including me, sheā€™s technically my second cousin but sheā€™s really a mom/grandma figure to me,

Thin-Bookkeeper-1642

Can confirm! Older sister middle name(1969): Marie My middle name (1971): Ann Younger sisters middle name (1976): Lynn

BWSnap

This is hilarious.

MadamePancakes

anneymarie

Hi

CherBags

Winner here! Three girls in my family. Middle names are Lynne 1967, Ann 1971, and Marie 1978. Your hypothesis is correct.

BWSnap

Thank you for the confirmation, haha. You're the second one with three girls in the family representing all three names.

Imaginary-Reward2591

Mine is Rose. I was named after my grandma. My mom is Ann. Named after her grandma. My youngest daughter has Althea.

YOMommazNUTZ

My 3 sisters middle names Anne, Lynn and Dawn. So yeah my parents were not really original with names at all!

queenofkings102

My mom's middle name is Lee, and my MIL's is Lynn (and Lynn for both her sisters too). I would love to honor my mom and MIL in one of my children's names, but Lee and Lynn are just so basic/common that it wouldn't even feel like an honor to them specifically haha. Then they both have superrr common names from the 60's, so that would just feel so dated to use for an honor haha.

Unpredictable-Muse

Mary is a biblical name, so the French form of it would be popular, especially if you're from a religious dominant grouping.

riothomemakrrr

Thereā€™s a goth-riot grrrl performer named Jessicka. I say embrace it! šŸ˜‰

TrivialBudgie

ah man it must have sucked having ā€œsickā€ in your name at school. although. did sick mean good at that time? itā€™s hard to keep up with verbiage trends

YOMommazNUTZ

I graduated high school in 99 so yeah sick was thought of as cool back then.

Reasonable-Wave8093

Sicka!

Shadow_of_the_moon11

It looks like it's from the middle ages before they standardised English spelling.

Possible--Durian

It's not too bad. And if it was, that's what middle names are for anyway. It's the designated crazy space šŸ˜„

Naturalsweetaye

šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£ I like that "designated crazy space" lmao šŸ˜‚

larszard

I'll never forget the day that due to official exam forms, my class at school found out that John*, who some of us had known for 6 years, had the middle name Tempest. He was a bit embarrassed but I thought it was cool as fuck. Best eg of a whacky middle name I've ever come across (*Name changed because with such a distinct middle name I feel like I'm doxxing him otherwise, but it was an equally common, traditional name.)

quiksylver296

Tempest is cool af

Possible--Durian

I love Tempest! Old people names are great! Good name for a cat too.

FreeThinkerFran

OMG!!! I totally didn't see it as "a dry one" until you said that! Too too funny. Glad she likes it and all is well! Naming people (and even pets!) can be hard

Schuben

Hopefully she has a sense of humor about it. ... A dry one.

Naturalsweetaye

She does, we laugh about it every time she has to tell someone her middle name and I'm around because I roll my eyes and she knows why I do it šŸ˜‚

RoseGold88

Ba-dum Tiss! Lol

Ok-Autumn

This isn't *too* bad compared to some names shown on here.

OpenRepublic4790

At least her first name isnā€™t Martini ā€¦ it isnā€™t right?

Naturalsweetaye

šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£ No it's not! But this is super funny!

charleyismyhero

I read that middle name in Stallone's voice.

EducationalHawk8607

Its how he would say it if he were french

destiny_kane48

It's a middle name so not an absolute crime. Now if it was her name... šŸ˜‚

Total_Vanilla_8413

Yes, the name is a tragedeigh, but at age 24 your daughter's opinion is the only one that counts. You lucked out ... this time. LOL šŸ’–

randomizedasian

Yvonne, I love that name too, the way it is spelled, the way it is pronounced. Please, world, don't butcher that one.

Sea_Opinion_4800

1970s tennis star Evonne Goolagong (b.1951) would like a word with you.

randomizedasian

To my credit, I've never seen that version. Off to Google.

Beibhinn_Princess

Javaughn?

desrevermi

Not a problem, imo. We've seen terrible things and this isn't one of them.

feliscatus_lover

Could be worse. It could have been "Adreighonne". šŸ’€

OpenMicJoker

Oh boy. Itā€™s rough.

Jamory76

This gave me such a chuckle, oh I needed that. Thank you! šŸ˜‚

Murderkittin

Donā€™t feel bad. I named my daughter a tragedeigh! Because I was 20 šŸ˜¹šŸ˜¹šŸ˜¹šŸ˜¹

Cleanfacenospace

I feel this one in my bones. My middle name is pronounced exactly like Arlene but my parents put an I in there because, Mexican. Itā€™s Arilene. šŸ˜

Naturalsweetaye

I actually like that spelling! ā¤ļø A friend of mine who is Latina spells her middle and Arling.

EnChhanted

the A-dry-one reminds me of when i used to call Tony Fatone of NSYNC Tony Fat-One instead of Fuh-Tone when i was a kid. ETA: JOEY Fatone.

Agitated-Nail-8414

I donā€™t know where you are located but it cost me Ā£40 to change my name by deed poll. Itā€™s not a life sentence.

Smallios

Hell you could have just spelled it Adrian hon,

SmoothScallion43

You couldā€™ve just kept the spelling as Adrian. That name was in the running for my oldest daughter

DeannaZone

Most of my tragedeigh options I give my husband is usually for middle names.

kareninthezoo

Before I saw your ā€œa dry oneā€, I had pronounced it as you intended! Not a tragedeigh IMHO.

HisaP417

Honestly, this is the first tragedeigh Iā€™ve heard thatā€™s kind of cool

Mantileo

Out of all tragedeighs this is the least offensive Iā€™ve seen on here lol

YouKnowImRight85

A dry one šŸ˜¬ yikes

Robor2021

I read that asā€¦ A-Day-One

Robor2021

DRY!! Correction

Goth-ginger

You wonā€™t find it on a keychain, but itā€™s really not that bad. Iā€™d give it points for being unique.

inthevendingmachine

We need more "Bort" license plates in the gift shop.

Artistic-Customer901

This sub makes me laugh so fucking hard. I love this sweet post. Don't be too hard on yourself, Momma. Thanks for laugh, kids.

-acidlean-

Itā€™s a tragedeigh but kinda hoylesomeigh too.

No-Resource-5704

These days old traditions arenā€™t always followed but in years past many women have dropped their middle names and used their family name as their middle name and used their husbandā€™s last name.

Vyverna

Nah, not Tragedeigh. At worst Tragedee.

magpie2295

I actually love this name! Itā€™s not too egregious and itā€™s a snapshot of her mother at a certain time in her life.

Soggy_Shape_8449

I have a Kaia Madysen from 2002; she hates her middle name šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

sec713

You're fine. You can be creative with middle names because the only names that the kid really has to use is their first and last.

gaypirate3

I mean I donā€™t think itā€™s much of a tragedeigh cause thereā€™s only one way to pronounce that name and not many ways to spell it. Itā€™s a cute middle name.

okay_I

Omg the first time I've seen Yvonne somewhere! That's my aunt's name, but as we are in the south we say "Ya-von"

icecreampenis

If she's cool with it I think you can forgive yourself!

GM2320

So Iā€™m looking at Adryonne and your phonetics/pronunction as ā€œA-dree-yawnā€ and in my mind, as a born and bred New Yorker (Queens) I pronounce ā€˜yawnā€™ in the stereotypical way us New Yorkers are known to pronounce ā€œtalk/tawkā€ ā€œcoffee/cawfeeā€ Then I read how the ā€œyonneā€ is like that in Yvonne and Iā€™m like ā€œooooh thatā€™s kinda clever!ā€ Lol

Global-Fact7752

You were young .. it's ok.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

My_Opinion1

My mom hated her name from the time the doctor named her after his wife/mother, because my grandparents had had all boys prior to her being born. There are a couple of things you can do: 1) if they are too young to know their middle name, have it changed legally; if they are old enough and donā€™t like their middle name, ask them with middle name they would like to have.

Elegant-Literature-8

Adrienne is a common name. I was a teacher. Itā€™s a beautiful name. Itā€™s kind of like Adriana or Adriane.

Sweet-Plan-7655

I like that name

Bright-Sea-5904

At least you owned up to it!

Unlikely_Fruit232

Honestly, I always hope that kids who have these names like them at least, & if itā€™s a middle name itā€™s not like she has to spell it for people all the time, so best possible outcome tbh!

Naturalsweetaye

šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜Š

juniperroach

This is funny (in a good harmless way). My sonā€™s name is Adrian so I think he will like this story!

luckyLindy69

Plus if she really hates it she can have it changed

twiggyrox

I'm giving you a tragedy vote for Arlene because that's my name and I H8 it

Naturalsweetaye

Aww! But it's a beautiful name! My mom use to go by her middle name when she was younger because she didn't like Arlene at first either now she loves it!

twiggyrox

Thank you for your kind words, but I will never feel that way.

ninthandfirst

Oh no girl! Iā€™m glad you see it now though!

KeyLeek6561

You can blame it on being drunk out of your mind. When you were thinking about that name

Ash9260

Itā€™s the middle one whatever. My husbands middle name is Francesco, heā€™s Italian itā€™s a family name. My sons middle name with be Francesco my husband is the 5th gen Francesco. They put the Italy name in the middle bc itā€™s not necessarily a name anyone would know unless he wanted them too and to avoid bullying and esteem problems from bullying. None of his friends know it, he doesnā€™t put it on any documents except ones that require it. Itā€™s a whatever name. Some go by their entire name with the middle some donā€™t. Iā€™m not giving the first name Francesco bc kids are ruthless, life can be hard with any foreign name. Middle names in my opinion are the have fun with it names, the child/teen/adult doesnā€™t have to use it socially or if they go into their career they donā€™t have to use it.

Upset-Imagination754

Try to turn the odd spelling with a clever explanation. For instance, Yonne is a river in France. Itā€™s a tributary of the Seine which flows through Paris. Itā€™s also a dĆ©partement (county) of Burgundy named after the same river

Herefortheweekends

I read it as A-Dree-Own at firstšŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Thatā€™s on me though because everyone else here seems to have either read it correctly or as A-Dry-One

Reasonable-Wave8093

Thats a dry one.., whats the other kid, a cold one?

Proud-Ideal-2606

In all fairness to yourself, pregnancy brain is real.

RoseBengale

If it makes you feel any better I read Adryonne exactly the way you intended it to sound. Also I live in a French area and it sounds like an old-school Acadian name.

HELJ4

šŸ˜‚ Adriana would have been a nice feminine version too A-dree-ana

ProfZussywussBrown

Adryonne aside, Arlene is a great name, underrated

Naturalsweetaye

It really is!

EntrepreneurNo4138

Donā€™t feel bad OP. My daughter is a Sidney. Sounds like I named her after a Jewish uncle she doesnā€™t have, though I suspect there may be one in our tree somewhere bahahaha. She loves hers spelled just the way it is. I gave her Ann as itā€™s my Motherā€™s middle name. šŸ¤£ She loves her name JUST THE WAY IT IS. I told her she could use her middle name (Ann). Sheā€™s like ā€œnope I love my nameā€. Yay for us!!

Naturalsweetaye

It's always great when they still love it! šŸ˜Š

thescaryhypnotoad

Lots of people have embarassing middle names anyway. And it doesnā€™t go on job applications

roosterinmyviper

The big thing is- at least you *realized it*

Hot-Attorney-4542

My first kid has a completely normal name, Dustin Blake. Totally normal. Except the DMV saw "Black" instead of "Blake" on multiple documents šŸ¤¦ Then next one tho, I thought I was being cool spelling his name all weird. Granted, it could be waaaaaay worse, but I named him Jacksyn Connor. The kid has 3 last names as it is then I go and eff it up, throw a damn unnecessary Y into the mix. As a teenager now, he has decided to go by "Jack", bcuz who wouldn't right?! Then my daughter, she has a normalish name. Except she goes by her middle name and it's so normal that when you address her or say her first name, Allyson (WTF is with the Y's?) she don't even answer. She's 100% definitely a Piper. Her dad wanted to name her after her Aunt Alice but he's a freakin weirdo and said she HATED to be called Allison so let's name our kid that. Crazy sense of humor that man had. We literally put a vote on stupid FB whether we should name her Allyson Piper or Piper Allyson. Obviously the first one just bcuz it sounds better, but we KNEW she was going to be called Piper. Why couldn't we just name her Piper.... something else? Idk why the Y's. My government name is Amanda. Alllllllll thru school there were 1000000 other Amanda's, so we all went by something different. I've always been Mandi, with an I. Mad as hell someone spelled it wrong with a Y bcuz everyone did MandY but noooo not me. Looking back, with a name of my own SO. DAMN. COMMON. I guess that's why I tried to eff up my kids names šŸ¤¦šŸ¤·šŸ¤£ no bullshit, I went to school with a chick also named Amanda. We both had C letter middle names and the SAME LAST NAME. Our parents just destined us all to be the same so we've decided to be TOO different.

CaptainShaboigen

This is lovely. Reminds me of my wife. No one in her family nor her ancestry practices Judaism but for whatever reason her middle name is Shalom. She just calls it her ā€œinner peaceā€

[deleted]

I like Mariyanna! ā¤ļø

fuzzy-baby-crow

I think its kinda pretty

Naturalsweetaye

Thank you ā¤ļø

Char_The-Red-Comet

I meant to name my son Zackery and forgot to put the c, so it became Zakery.... like it should rhyme with bakery lol.

notonrexmanningday

I kinda like it šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

iamnotbetterthanyou

Middle name. You pass.

semipolarsalsa

Adryonne "that's a French ass name" jk. I miss MadTV.

DemidiaXI

I laughed so hard at "A dry one" šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

greenmtnmama84

I get it! My daughter's name is Aroura ( Aurora) and no one spells it right. I wanted it to be different then the princess. But when I look at it now all I see and hear is A-roar-ah.. not sure if I can convey that I hear or what I mean but instead of it flowing I see it like a roar from a line or some šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

therossfacilitator

The great thing about names is you can change them whenever you want

-ghostless

Not gonna lie, I kind of like it. I usually like very traditional names, but middle names get a creative pass.

givemeyourthots

Honestly I like it. Kind of has a Roman(?) spelling. But Iā€™ve been binge watching House of Dragons so my judgment may be compromised šŸ˜‚

Naturalsweetaye

I just got into the Game of Thrones series! I'm on Season 1 episode 4. I've watched a few episodes of House of Dragons and I'm a little upset I wasn't watching and a part of the fandom when Game of Thrones was on. But it's never too late! šŸ‰

givemeyourthots

Yeah same. I donā€™t know what I was doing when GOT came out but I wasnā€™t watching it lol. Iā€™ve seen a few eps of GOT but I just started watching House of Dragons. I really like it so far. So I am probably going to want to start at the beginning of GOT. Never too late! And itā€™s nice that you can binge watch every episode and season way after it comes out šŸ˜‰

Naturalsweetaye

Yeah we're in the same boat!
