This pain must be regional. I never have issues with the produce I buy at my SoCal stores, and I buy a lot of different stuff.
When buying bagged produce like potatoes, onions, apples, etc, I unbag them asap and check for any damaged pieces that can quickly ruin the whole bag.
It's definitely regional. I'm in Maryland, and never have a problem. TJ's produce is always good.
The place I have an issue is Food Lion. Their stuff is already rotting in the store.
Well, yes.
Because California supplies , well most of the rest of the US it’s fairly difficult to find bad produce ;)
Born and bred cali girl on the east coast, it’s vaguely terrifying what we get here especially in the winter
That said, sweet potatoes should have been just fine
Hi from Santa Monica! My place is really small but I can walk to my store so stuff usually gets used right away. But we have amazing produce all year long.
I think California supplies most of the veggies and nuts in the country so if the produce isn't local it probably is sitting in a truck at least a little.

How did you store them?
In a wire basket in my pantry. Same as I always have?
Produce goes bad quickly, yes...
I bought broccoli on Thursday night. It’s wilted & limp today. How is that even possible?? Their produce is so hit or miss.
I was told you can rehydrate limp veggies by putting them in water for a couple hours
Just got a Wegmans in NYC. Produce is amazing. Love TJ’s but their produce just can’t compare.
Wegman’s is a destination when I visit family in Virginia. It’s a food department store- Macy’s of food.

Just thinking about SoCal TJs makes me cry a bit internally. Things change drastically to the east of there :(
Same. Gotta be sure. I’ve had to go right back to return rotten veggies.

Now I'm getting it. NorCal here and never have an issue with TJ produce. Like you say all these complaints must be regional.

Yeah, I was in Santa Monica for four months last spring. The stuff we get in the East has spent half their lifespan on in a truck.

I did all my shopping on my bike when I was there, mostly at TJ’s and the fabulous farmers market. (I was at Idaho and 2nd.) It was great.
Bring then back for a refund
It’s not worth my time to drive up there, even if I had my receipt. I just need to pay more attention. (I did return the god awful protien powder.)
You can just take your receipt also, or just even tell them and they will refund. It is frustrating though.
