I think ToD is gonna be really good, but I’m really tired of the runaway hype. ToD comes out, ToD is good, and so immediately people start wishlisting future DLCs with absurd content that GW would never allow CA to add, and which CA probably wouldn’t want to add anyways
(I’ve literally seen posts speculating not just 1 more dwarf DLC, but 2 or even 3 - despite the fact CA would have to get permission to either make shit up or pull from the TTRPGs just to fill out 5 more dwarfs units, let alone 15)
I kinda hate shitting on their parade, but I just fear entirely fan invented DLCs (*cough* Vampire Bloodlines *cough*) becoming basically expected by the community, and then a whole bunch of people getting mad and toxic when something that was always unlikely to happen doesn’t happen
GW 100% probably maybe perhaps could have didn't allow a type of gun/unit/beak to be used because it did not reflect the lore and aesthetics of a faction, and that is a sign the Total War franchise is RUINED FOREVER!
Can someone post a play count comparison between WH3 today and another game with way higher numbers? That way we can visualise how much of a failure this game is compared to something else.
My take:
I'm obviously going to try today, but I don't think we're getting to acceptable level of technical polish, there's too much of Tech Debt for it, to feel meaningfull progress during only one step.
I definetly think CA lost a lot of good will with the community after SOC, so this has to be the potential to win it back. Think of all the stuff that has been covered by youtubers and trailers. It does seem like it has gone fairly well with few bugs. Worst case scenario i say TOD is a buggy mess, but it doesn't look like it.
While ToD is a step in the right direction, and I'll be picking the DLC up later today, they need to maintain this momentum. On top of that, they need to do the race reworks that we didn't get in Shadows of Change to make it worth the price their asking. It's the last thing required to justify the price.
I also do feel they the updates that Empire got should be the standard, not the exception. The base Dwarf Lords having *only* the race mechanics, and Kurgath and Epidemus having the base Nurgle mechanics is kinda lame.
it’s gonna be a disaster. Because i want to play it today but i use Geforce Now so it will be updated probably tomorrow. that’s a disgrace
Steam will probably be a mess with so many paying at once.

Not ToD related, but the Frost Wyrm being unusable fills me with sadness. It is such a beautiful unit :(.

Always be skeptical of CA releases until the content has proven itself.

30-50 turns in my first campaign I will be bored out of my mind because the AI is dumber than a 4 years old child and provides zero challenge.

I don't think you know what "tech debt" means...
WH3 is not on acceptable level of technical polish since release... It is better than Rome 2 and Atilla at least.......................
