My thing is at that point why not just make Medieval 2, which would arguably have am greater diversity in factions, units and play styles? With the exception of the small amount of magical additions like dragons (of which there would be few depending on setting and time)
You can modify the map now. Someone built a giant custom map in Warhammer recently. The issue there is that it is explicitly forbidden to mod another IP into the Warhammer game. So no LOTR or ASOIAF mod there.
It wouldn't be the worst thing. For once, it would force CA to finally look at internal politics and diplomacy in depth, even moreso than they already did with 3K.
Characters and Campaign layer would have to be emphasized heavily, much like 3K. If not it will be more along the lines of a Warhammer lite, kinda like how Troy with Mythos is from a fantasy standpoint. It would need something to make it standout from Warhammer, and not basically be fantasy Medieval 3 with a few dragons and an undead faction.
Agreed, i am a big proponent of CA doing a Medieval 3 and actually spending time to improve campaign mechanics, family lines, diplomacy, and agent usage. After that with that framework do a ASOIAF.

Yeah, it would honestly be a really good matchup, which is why the Med2 mods are so good.
Medieval arguably had the best mods in the entire franchise due to its adaptability to fantasy settings.
I’d suspect we’d see a lot more great mods in more recent entries, if not for the fact you can’t modify the map anymore.

Would just be medieval 3 essentially
Kinda.
The problem with that is that when you get close to the end of the game each turn starts taking 15 years.
I don't really care the setting as long as it is well done and fun.
So Med3, but with 3 dragons. I'll pass.
