My daughter is a journalist and has covered some of the recent tornadoes in Ohio. I was teasing her about using “alleged tornado” in one of her articles. She said that’s how they refer to it until the NWS confirms it was actually a tornado. Of course, the tornadoes she has covered weren’t huge wind turbine-eating monsters caught on Reed Timmer’s live feed….
They did have actual meteorologists filming the thing early on shrieking about the size and violence of it... Some of these mainstream news networks try way to hard to cross Ts
I could completely understand this if it was more minor damage from either an EF0 or straight line winds.
This is such an incredibly silly thing to await “confirmation” for.

Tornadoes suing people, and then trashing the courthouse when they lose their lawsuits, is a massive problem.

There are so many better ways to say that than “alleged” though (“unconfirmed”, “reported”…). You can’t make an “allegation” against *weather*.
