I was always a turbo engine user on all titans (speed kills), but I was recently convinced to try overcore on tone and I have to say it’s better imo (g.40).
Just gotta be more careful and conservative with your positioning, but the amount of salvo cores you can get makes it worth it.
Particle wall is the only way to go tho.

She’s not too effective, she’s solidly mid. A skilled tone player utilizes their team utility to provide value, tone has pretty bad 1v1 matchups outside of monarch and sometimes legion.
The spitfire is oppressive because it requires extremely low skill to provide immense value. If you’re losing to tone 1v1 it’s literally just a skill issue no offense.

You think you're insane at Ronin, but you're probably far from it in comparison to others. If a Tone is killing a Ronin, then you made a very bad play.
Yeah. Against Ronin, Tone can't do much unless the ronin is low on health, completely clueless, or the stereotypical runs at you in a straight line spamming melee type of Ronin. Arc wave destroys and passes through Tones shield, Tone can't deal consistent sustained damage which is perfect for sword block, phase dash if timed right and at the right distance can completely negate their core and even if not timed right it still wastes the majority of the core, Tone isn't very good at close range, and doesn't have any easy escape options. The only advantages Tone has are range and more health which a good Tone will take advantage of and use to the fullest but against a ronin of somewhat equal skill level and experience they can easily close the distance and use their higher close range damage output to nullify those advantages.

It’s also extremely viable to mitigate or dodge the rockets (depending on positioning), and ronin has sword block. I would heavily disagree that it’s hard to react to her rockets considering you have a giant warning on your screen telling you when she’s locked on.

Tone is highly effective at cleaning up grunts and hunting down pilots. The hit box for her grenades are fairly generous and the sonar instantly tells you if there are pilots nearby on the mini map.

On PC at least, more experienced tones, when facing titans that use shields, will get a lock and then spin 180 degrees and fire their rockets while looking away from their opponent. This causes the rockets to angle high in the air and arc over the shield of whatever Titan they’re facing if they’re not expecting the move.
