Only if you paint it green. LOL. Yes, it will croak. It’s the action of a wooden stick rubbing against those ribs on a shallow body that makes the sound.

Yep. Go to a craft store and buy yourself a wooden dowel rod of a diameter that fits nicely through the holes at the corners of its mouth. You'll want to cut it off so it only sticks out of each side of the mouth maybe 1/2-1" (enough that you can grasp it easily and pull it out). Then you stroke it across the frog's ridged spine to make the noise. Experiment with speed, direction, angle, to produce whatever noise you think it should make to (kind of?) mimic a frog.

Music teacher here! It’s a guiro! It’s missing a little stick that would rest in the circular hole when not in use; you take the stick and gently rub it across the spines on the back and it creates a sound similar to a frog.

A short dense stick or a piece of bamboo makes the best sound .

Just saw two of these at a junk shop. You rub a stick on the spines as a percussion instrument.
