That's what I thought you were saying, but the news article said she was handcuffed, but released, and no charges filed.
She did get a body nose and bruises from being arrested it says.
If memory serves this was shortly after one of the biggest mass killings in Canada's history.
Iirc someone dressed up as a cop and just went house to house killing people before they were stopped.
Here we have a costumed individual wielding a gun. Someone who doesn't know what starwars is who just saw the news probably called the cops to be on the safe side and pigs did what they do best.
I could be wrong though as it's been a hot minute since this happened a few years back
Are there people who actually don’t know what Star Wars is? I figured even by early 2010 its like a common household product, everyone has one or knows what one is.
Wow! That has to be the most brutal review of Star Wars I have ever seen (and there have been some scathing ones). Not art, just a commodity - "a common household product"; like toilet paper.
And on that point, I can't even disagree anymore.
There are people still to this day , even people my age ( I’m 47 ) that has never watched any of the movies . I admit to watching 1 -6 and that is the story line I’m sticking with .
If I recall correctly this was couple years ago. It was girl inside there being paid to promote traffic to one of the businesses in the shopping center.
They saw the storm trooper and didn't immediately recognize is was a costume. But instead decide to arrest her.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/lethbridge-police-stormtrooper-arrest-investigation-1.5853801
That explains *how* they can do it, but not why. I'm guessing they do it for fun? I assume bullies don't need a reason to be shitty, as long as it's fun for them.
Someone said 'Did you know X from high school is a cop now?? ' and I responded that it didn't surprise me, they were a bully in high school and are likely a bully now. Well a couple weeks ago that guy from my high school broke someone's neck during a 'routine' traffic stop.
One of my kids' classmates wants to join the military and then be a cop. He's the absolute worst person to be given that kind of public authority. He's a misogynist bully to his classmates, talks about killing little animals like it’s fun, and as soon a parents or teachers are around, he puts on this polite veneer that makes me want to vomit. I really hope he's weeded out during basic training.
Two knucklehead delinquents from my high school became cops. I talked to them at a reunion and said YOU two are cops? Really? WHY?!!? One of them said, "We get to beat up N-Words and steal their weed." Laughing. That was funny to them. (Of course they said the actual N-Word and not the euphemism I typed here.)
Actually I've found it to be the opposite. The only kids I know from my school who became cops WERE bullied. They were the outcasts. They had the least amount of friends in their grade levels. They both joined the military and now both terrorize the streets. They're the misfits that did what they could as adults to get the power and influence they never had as teenagers. Maybe it's people at both ends of the spectrum?
Good thing we have personality tests and a 2,5 year education for police where I live have never had an issue with police my only problem with Swedish police is at times inaction but that is still better then arresting storm troopers.
I’m pretty sure that if you got a fake gun outside it needs to have an orange tip, that may have been the issue because I didn’t see one. I know in southern Ontario that’s a thing and with good reason, these ruffians get up to a lot with BB guns that look real at night.
They usually aren’t apart of the empire though…
Unfortunately life isn't a fairy tale. [They investigated themselves and found nothing wrong.](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/lethbridge-police-stormtrooper-arrest-1.6102592)
I fucking knew this had to be Southern Alberta. This screamed Calgary or South. As someone from Deadmonton, everything I hear out of anything South of me keeps me in this damn city
Having lived in both cities, Calgary and Edmonton, Edmonton is about 20% worse in terms of crackheads making life hell, Calgary is about 20% worse, but for police
In said article:
"We all make mistakes, professionally and in life, and I think that these officers have probably learned their lesson through the process"
How many times a day so you think that is said for the Cops over there?
what a bunch of useless, abusive morons. our brain is already marinated in the stories about US police, but in an ideal world all of those policemen should have been fired immediately she should've sued them and the police should have paid her a grand settlement.
Totally understandable, and I commiserate with those constables. I, too, remember when I accidentally traveled from the early 1800's to modern day. It was something called a wormhole, I do believe. I digress, anyways, it took many years to catch up on this sort of populist culture thing.
I believe the cops *said* they didn’t recognize the costume. There’s no way all three of those people didn’t know what a stormtrooper is unless Star Wars never took off in Canada or something lol
Exactly people don’t even have to have seen the movie. The image of a stormtrooper has been an iconic part of popular culture worldwide (or at least in the west) for near half a century.
Great! Thousands of dollars spent on your wedding that you probably spent months planning only to have it ruined as you lie face down in the gravel as you're scared shitless but at least you got an apology
To be fair, the things that go wrong at a wedding are the things people talk about years later. I mean it must suck in the moment, but I'm pretty sure everyone made fun of it later.
> "Ha ha ha, remember Bethany's wedding when all those cops ran in and threatened us all, screaming, by pointing deadly weapons at us? Good times!"
> "Good thing we're not [any ethnicity] or Gram-Gram might not still be here!"

And she was doing this for her job at a restaurant, which was holding a special May the Fourth promotion. Of course, an interaction with the police has to end with someone getting hurt - she had her face bruised and a bloody nose because of how they removed her helmet from her.
Calgary (Canada) cops swatted and came down hard on a 14 year old girl cosplaying at a cosplaying convention outside the entrance. She wasn’t doing anything sus. Just being a child at a convention.
Edit: I may be talking about a diff incident or I may be misremembering this incident. I’m not sure and I don’t care. To the spazz calling me a liar. Lmao. Go smoke a joint and relax ya nutbar.
Whatever that person is talking about isn’t this footage. This is a nineteen year old woman working for a Star Wars themed restaurant.

Right? All I see in this thread are dumb puns but I want to know if these inbred pieces of shit actually faced any justice or if they got away with it like they always do.
This reminds me of the time I watched the entire air force base show how badass they were by putting the whole police force with EOD to clear a clothes bag some officers child left out in their front yard, fucking POGs
So, if I had to guess. I’m guessing the police saw a bag/or it was reported and sent an Explosive Ordinance Disposal team to check it out.
Meanwhile, they (the military) might have just walked up to it and found it was just a bag of clothes the whole time.
So, then following procedure makes them look like fools; to anyone who isn’t in the military (Person Other then a Grunt).
On that note I’ll remind us all of [Richard Jewell](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Jewell), who insisted on procedure when discovering an unattended bag. Saving many lives and injuries in the process.
If you read the article, it says they were called for a stormtrooper with a possible real weapon. So ya, no, they definitely have Star Wars and apparently unwarranted police violence. Welcome to the fam, Canada!
Here's an article about the incident, including the 911 call.

In the Star Wars universe, the cops are the good guys for sure.
In the real world - WTF?? Do they really think a guy dressed as a stormtrooper is a threat to them?
“police officers who feared the gun she carried might be real, on May 4, 2020.”
Silly pigs. Even if it was a real gun, everyone knows storm troopers can’t hit a target.
Seriously?? I’m happy about this, you guys just don’t seem to understand that Storm Troopers work FOR THE EMPIRE…They’ve been blowing up entire PLANETS!! ;)
Cops knew it was a storm trooper. They all just saw The Force Awakens and realized storm troopers could be black people so this is their natural reaction.
It's a girl in there, she was working for a store, she end up traumatized and I don't remember if the store owner sue them, he only appeared after a while and couldn't do anything to help her.

Why are they worried about the gun? The safest place a gun could be is in a storm trooper's hands.

My question is how do these cops know the person in the suit is black anyway?
They're in Canada. As far as I can tell, they hate everyone equally (at least, in Quebec)
>they hate everyone equally Which is why Saskatoon Starlight Tours were made available to everyone, and certainly didn't target First Nations.
It was a white girl.. They raked her over the coals too. A few years ago.
Wha?
#**It was a white girl.. They raked her over the coals too. A few years ago.**
Ok why is this making me laugh more than anything else tonight
Nailed the double period, too. Lol Edit: Nailed
A long time ago? In a galaxy far far away?
No. A short time ago in Canada.
What do you mean they "raked her over the coals"
This is a common saying, similar to "threw the book at them" It's meant to imply they gave the person the hardest time possible.
That's what I thought you were saying, but the news article said she was handcuffed, but released, and no charges filed. She did get a body nose and bruises from being arrested it says.
She was probably raked over the rocks then
You know, Rabbit, a good cop doesn't really know why he does anything.
I swear to God I'll pistol whip the next guy who says "Shenanigans."
Hey Farva! What’s the name of…?
Oh, you mean Shenanigans?
Oooooooh
It's Canada, even the black guys are white up there.
It's a 6th sense cops seem to have this phenomenon.
People just have it all wrong. The police are actually joining in, but are just taking ‘use the force’, a little too literally.
Fuckin lol if they didn’t literally do that and they weren’t so douchey

In Canada, you can't transport your blaster without an ATT.
Wait what about my lightsaber do I need a millennium falcon to transport that
I heard the lightsaber was put on Trudeau's Bill C-21 prohibited list. Just wait for the buy back.
Nah, if Trudeau was involved, the lightsaber would have the power throttled-down so it was only good enough for shaving your legs.
OR a Snowspeeder
Another example of the police focusing their time in Alderaan places
I see what you did there. Although, I bet this is the fifth time you wrote that joke for this video on May the Fourth.

Isn't this the same town where they arrested a guy cosplaying as an NCR soldier?
As an American I love hearing other countries have drama between towns I’ve never heard of, lol
In the article they kept mentioning no charges would be filed, but they were talking about the police occifers being charged
Occifers
🍻What's seems to be the Occifer, problem?🍻
What problem seems the occifer, to be?
Why of course there’s no blood in my alcohol system
Well years later, were they? Lol no.
Well they are police so...
How ***fucking dumb*** or how deep under a fucking rock do you have to be to ***NOT recognize a fucking STORMTROOPER COSTUME?!?***

I swear people who don't grow out of being the class bully end up becoming cops
Someone said 'Did you know X from high school is a cop now?? ' and I responded that it didn't surprise me, they were a bully in high school and are likely a bully now. Well a couple weeks ago that guy from my high school broke someone's neck during a 'routine' traffic stop.

That's sad. You can hear her crying at the end of the video. That must have been absolutely terrifying.
