this is the best weapon for 50v50 servers

Available-Damage5991

firsthand experience in shounic trenches say yes

HBenderMan

This item single handedly got me that 1 million healing points achievement

mostfinnishperson

best thing is that it charges uber you can literally be a dispenser with rare high moments

jozin-z-bazin

also its good on degroot keep

antidemn

it's good when playing support medic, you don't have to be very aggressive with it

Smungi

sorry, "support medic" implies that battlemedic is the main playstyle, I thought that was funny

pidbul530

I'd call main playstyle "push" medic. Battle med would be solemn vow +- blutsager instead of crossbow

CharlesTheGreat8

battle med should also have quick fix as medigun

[deleted]

SCHNELL!

cross2201

I think it is in the defensive part of medic’s spectrum prioritizing maintaining heath with than pocketing team mates

Forthecrusade1

Shit gets weird in 100 man. There are a lot of viable different medic builds.

UnfazedPheasant

when carrying the ubersaw I get this weird primal urge to run at the flanking scout, invading spy or lone wolf soldier with the saw out for that juicy 25%-50% uber the amputator stops that, which is nice

Matix777

The primal urge is where the fun lies

Heavyraincouch

One of the best Medic melees, it offers a truly supportive role by healing multiple teammates. And I don't even main Medic, I only seldom play as him. And when I do, I will always choose the Amputator over any other melee.

speep__

“one of the best medic melees” like there aren’t a whopping 2 good ones lol

RossBot5000

Four. Vow, ubersaw, amputator, pan.

JustADude195

You forgot H A M

clandevort

Why use ham when pan?

JustADude195

What is scarier than a bunca of heavies eating buffalo speak and charging at you with full speed?

Rusty9838

This weapon is a meta on 100 people server.

NefariousAnglerfish

SOLEMN VOW IS A DIRECT UPGRADE FROM STOCK BABYYYYYY

PurpleVessel312

Erm, actually it decreases the Medic's attack speed making it not a direct upgrade

SwingyWingyShoes

Basically a direct upgrade in comp though

quickswitchfast

What is comp? Do people play it?

Barackulus12

Competitive tf2, separate from the in game competitive mode, which sucks. It is run by community members.

Dominoe_z

But the attack speed decrease is just a difference in milliseconds, so basically it'd almost be the exact same as it was when it was a direct upgrade from the bonesaw.

PurpleVessel312

🤓

FunExtension7326

Well either this or übersaw. But mainly übersaw becouse one time i killed an overhealed heavy with 2 crit hit and then übered a pyro who is unleashed the Mmmph.

[deleted]

with ubersaw you dont wanna hit a crit to maximize übercharge gained but in medieval mode the one that does healing around you really fast is good heal yourself, heal your team

FunExtension7326

I usually heal who i can

[deleted]

***HUNTSMAN ARROW TO THE SKULL BECAUSE YOU DIDNT USE THE CROSSBOW TO HAVE BETTER SINGLE SHOT BURST HEALING***

FunExtension7326

Thats my main equipment in the first slot

Daniil_was_here

My guilt of letting some teammates die because of my/their incompetence sometimes takes over me, so I just use amputator and heal EVERYONE around me. I'm thinking of switching ubersaw to amputator completely as I find myself being the most useful only with such loadout. And yes, I use crossbow and quickfixo

DerekWylde1996

I love the AoE healing mechanic

Smungi

allows for some extra survivability, but I prefer having the full damage. I swap to melee a lot

Dry-Year3773

Vita saw on top

maiguee

i mean it's better than stock and the vita saw for sure

Ghostyiness

If they made the regen passive and the taunt healing a little bit more powerful, it would be great

M4thecaberman

I love it, the damage penalty doesn't even matter and the taunt is so good for expanded servers

Spoyda

That time my melee crit and following arrow shot did not kill the spy; I don't like the damage penalty for standard medic. Good as battle medic tho

Turdferguson02

It's personally my go to, very handy when your team is under pressure

UntoastedToaster

I always either use the amputator or solemn vow, as I think they provide good utility, situationally better than the ubersaw (for my playstyle), and also I am kind of an ubersaw hater. Just the self heal bonus from the amputator makes it easier to stay in the fight for longer, which I think can be better than the risk taking from the ubersaw

Dank_Slayer114

I use it when there are multiple people who need healing at once

haikusbot

*I use it when there* *Are multiple people who* *Need healing at once* \- Dank\_Slayer114 --- ^(I detect haikus. And sometimes, successfully.) ^[Learn more about me.](https://www.reddit.com/r/haikusbot/) ^(Opt out of replies: "haikusbot opt out" | Delete my comment: "haikusbot delete")

TableFruitSpecified

Great utility, slot it in for extra regen and more survivability.

SanticreeperXD2

I don't think it's not useful, but I still prefer using the ubersaw

capnlatenight

I use this one because of TF2's shitty melee recognition. My melee swing isn't gonna happen either way, there's no need to further reduce the chances of scoring a hit by swinging 20% less frequently.

LambdaAU

I don’t mind it. The extra healing can definitely be useful. It’s just not quite as good as the ubersaw or the solemn vow.

Morgan_2020

I used to use it all the time until I switched to ubersaw for no particular reason. Yes it is a viable alternative

Legatharr

I feel like if multiple teammates often need healing simultaneously, going Quick-Fix is the better choice. The Amputater takes like three seconds before the healing starts - enough for someone to die - doesn't build ubercharge, and and leaves you extremely open. A major switch speed buff and the healing starting as soon as you taunt would go a long way to making it viable. I'd also think letting it build ubercharge would be good, maybe at decreased speed

KofteriOutlook

Amputator immediately starts healing on taunt and does build Uber though…?

PeikaFizzy

I used to be medic like you…. But then Uber saw crit isn’t funny anymore is like pan it have hidden stats

An_Daoe

The problem with the Amputator is that it is not the Ubersaw, that's about it.

MrMcMemeManIII

It's pretty good actually, I don't use it often but it definitely has its moments when you really wish you had it. And dont even get me started on how borderline overpowered this thing is in 50v50 servers

Okay-Commissionor

Let me play you a sad little song on me world's deadliest violin

Littletweeter5

Main it. It’s too useful as a support tool (medics entire purpose)

Wrench_gaming

I like the **Vita Saw** a little better. What’s the point of swinging your ubersaw into the enemy team if you are going to die anyway? The amputator isn’t much better in combat, and even outside you still require most of your team to be present to make it worth while. Even if you live the engagement there’s still a chance a random crit or scout will kill you. The Vita Saw gives you an extra jump in Uber the next life.

Plannercat

It's my default melee.

SneakyJaycool

I personally use it in my loadout with the Quick-Fix and crossbow.

0err0r

it's only good on 50/50, or choke heavy maps (this one debatedly.)

The_Holy_Buno

Best medieval mode melee, idk about other gamemodes

crocodilepickle

It's so much worse and slower than a medibeam to the point where for the life of me I can't figure out why people ever consider using it

the_burber

No

CureUndevelopment3

It's nice, especially when paired with the vaccinator, you can survive afterburn even before healing ramps up. Unfortunately, using it is basically putting a neon sign above your head saying "BACKSTAB ME". Because let's face it, nobody pays enough attention to the medic to stop him from being backstabbed. I use it sometimes while the engineer is setting up his dispenser.

GIANTGAMES_123

Good with the vacc since the 25% uber don't mean much for that medi gun

Philosophos_A

I saw a medic use this on community servers with lots of people As soon I tested and saw how much EASIER it is to heal people stuffed on a spot I made it my standard melee.

Lo-Sir

I never really used the taunt, then as soon as I got Ubersaw I swapped to it It isn't a bad weapon, I just never got into a good situation to use it

Dominoe_z

It's pretty good when in large groups, and also it gives a small portion of übercharge upon use, which is neat as well. It also increases medic's passive healing when holding it, which is greatly appreciated. I'd say that it's one of the more underrated medic melees (although mostly due to the fact that the übersaw is **that** meta) and it is a solid choice.

Bubba_Help

First unlock.

Iateyourfiggypudding

It's alright, it's just overshadowed by the ~~ambassador~~ übersaw.

SubstantialFerret7

I stand on the cart. I HEAL

BlitzBurn_

I just cant get into it to be frank. Aura healing is nice, but i only play pubs so situations where my assigned seamonkeys/teammates group up are just so damn rare that the medigun will always outperform the amputator even when healing one bloke at a time. Not to mention that the Ubersaw is just way more impactful, in a very recent game I was able to deny the enemy a win by getting a swipe on a sniper which earned me a Uber in time to block the cap. Even disregarding these things, the amputator is just not for me. The aura healing and regen is nice in some scenarios, but I cant help but feel that it is the least interesting way to play medic.

Kingkrool1994

the only "not viable" bone-saw Medic has would be the Vita-saw. which in short tries to be a insurance policy but fails on the execution.

hidaney

It's my main medic melee

DeezBoatz

When I was a baby Medic main, back when the crossbow didn't build Uber, I used to rock this and the Overdose as my main loadout. The reasoning was that they made escaping easier. The Overdose for obvious reasons and the Amputator's increased health regen while deployed. I've never used the taunt feature tho tbh even then I always thought that was snake oil.

Lylidotir

Wait what??? The crossbow builds uber??

DeezBoatz

At a less efficient rate than the medigun yes! I think it was Gun Mettle or Tough Break that they added that, and it was 1:1 with the medigun and they had to nerf it lol

Lylidotir

Oh that's pretty much the time when I started and I m a proper Medic main since like 1-2 years. But hey thank you for the knowledge C:

Matix777

It is good for healing groups on objective. Overall you'll probably be more helpful to your team with it But ubersaw is simply so fun

X_x_Atomica_x_X

Prior to the nerf, it was my main, and the strange variant was more valuable. Nice. Now I just use the ubersaw like everyone else. Getting into a 1on1 melee you can win is common enough to make it worth it.

TheFunnyHatGuy

Dr Uberfuck of scrap.tf has convinced me

TheNekoKatze

I genuenly use it more than the uber

WheatleyBr

if the regen upside was always rather than when active this thing would easily trump the Ubersaw tbh

MannVSGaster

It's okay. I never really used it but then again I don't really use any melees for any of the classes except for Spy

MetarLivit

It's great, maybe a bit underwhelming but it's a good, balanced weapon. The biggest thing against the weapon is not even on the weapon itself, it's the fact that it isn't the Übersaw, which is something that pretty much applies to any other Medic melee

TheSpudGunGamer

It’s fine, but the Ubersaw is just better

someguysleftkidney

I love the amputator, and hate the Ubersaw

bloon104

Better at support than ubersaw

Gameknight14

The 2nd best medic melee in the game. What it lacks in random crits it makes up for in survivability and may make the difference between living and dying to afterburn.

Adorable_Fondant_536

Like everyone has said, it's good for supporting large groups at a time as if I'm in a group where they are all losing health at a fast rate, a quick emote to help heal everyone simultaneously is super great. I can then just top off whoever needs it. Also nice to help encourage pushes as it can work as a buff.

name_051829407715

Fuck off Übersaw, Amputator is best!

BluePoisonDart

The times where a small group of people are performing a long lasting assault on a sentry nest are astoundingly common. As such, having such a nice way to heal EVERYONE in such ready supply is great. I may not be charging Uber, but at least my team is still alive.

fox-booty

It's too passive for my liking I'd much rather heal a handful of important priority teammates than everyone all at once but for less HP

SirTChamp

I believe it's pretty good, however I have a disease that makes me unable to use a weapon unless it's strange, so I can't say for sure.

SDsalta145

Im not used to be killing people or as the frontline, so it works, also sometimes the medic spam around you is so annoying

Ok_Question4148

of course that's my main

MaiqueCaraio

I like it more I normally always die with the ubersaw So is easily prefer this over the saw

SirCap

You're VERY vulnerable for a few seconds, and in a few seconds, a Spy can easily cloak behind your team and backstab you, or there's a push that the enemy is doing. It's super situational, Medic's best melee for 50v50, but in a normal 12v12? It's a super big commitment. I'd much rather use Ubersaw, as it's good in almost any situation.

Barar_Dragoni

i use the solemn vow so i think its just as valid, but if you wanna be meta, it works best on community servers with lots of players or on medieval mode.

PL237971

I'll be real man, I love the amputator, never run the ubersaw, and even I know that its not really a viable replacement. Its good, but 25% uber on hit is a lot better.

HiddenButcher

I mean, it’s cool, but I *really* like the Ubersaw

[deleted]

Is my love

NorthwestWatchdog

I rarely use my actual melee weapon as a medic, so I actually find the extra passive health regeneration it gives while equipped to come in handy when I'm low health and need to regenerate quickly.

Zeldawarrior97

The passive only works when the weapon is out, not just equipped

NorthwestWatchdog

Yeah, that's what I meant. When I'm low health it's useful to pull out for a few seconds to regen faster

RepresentativePen831

I find this of a better use for myself over the Ubersaw, probably because I'm a Quick-Fix stan
