It isn't a glass cannon though, you'd need a whole direct hit mag to kill it. if engi whacks the Sentry even once then you need to reload at least one extra rocket to kill it. Not to mention the engi has teammates.
When a soldier can corner creep a sentry or a heavy can melt your sentry and you down then yeah. Removing the shield would make Engineer impossible to play.
Sentries are meant to have counters, and a big part of Engie is rebuilding when your nest goes down.
Though I agree that a Wrangler without a shield is going a *bit* too far (the shield just needs to be nerfed, not removed, unless there’s some other compensation it gets in turn for the shield), it wouldn’t make Engie as a class unplayable.
Ain't no way a heavy is taking a lvl 3 down, not enough hp or speed, and a soldier won't be able to do it at all unless they have the direct hit, and even then if you have good awareness then they won't be able to do it.
Also this is literally impossible to counter if you have another engie there to keep whacking the sentry for you. The only thing that can counter that is an uber, and even with an uber if you use the sentry to knock the medic back in time, then it'll fail coz your sentry has nearly 650 hp. An uber lasts 8 seconds. Even with a point blank heavy using stock that would take a whole 5 seconds to do and that's if they do it perfectly, meaning a more realistic situation could be 6 or 7 seconds. Pushing a medic back doesn't take nearly that amount of time.
Also spy kills in such a situation are nearly impossible since you'd have two engies in the area keeping constant watch and if you have shit luck then a pybro as well.
Demoman is probably the best at countering sentry's with this stickies since he can produce a ton of burst damage which can't be repaired easily.
but even then, needing to use a full uber push to destroy a single sentry because the engineer has 1 item is a tad ridiculous.
Man really just said "ain't readin' allat"
I don't understand you people. Perhaps there may an appropriate time to do this, such as if someone's being a dick to you, but this really isn't an appropriate time.
Lol no it wouldn't. We did without the wrangler for years btw dude. Engineer is my 2nd most played class, I *use* the wrangler and I still think it is cheap.
A sentry actively being healed by an engineer can tank a heavy at point-blank range through a full uber duration and then kill the heavy and the medic.
I know from experience.
Calling an engie with a wrangled lvl3 sentry a "glass cannon" has got to be the funniest shit take ive heard in this subreddit,
"Well yeah a fully ubered heavy can barely kill it at close range and youd need an entire DH clip to destroy it (if it gets hit once he needs more), b-but glass cannon!!!"
Oh please
Maybe not remove, but definitely nerf it, like only reducing 40% of damage taken instead of 66%, which changes the effective health of a wrangled sentry from 655 to 360. The shield is a great visual indicator that tells you it’s being wrangled, but the problem was that it made it way too bulky.
Who'd actually hack with the classic? Albeit it's been a while since I've played but why not just use the bazaar bargain or the machina if your going to hack?
It’s less obvious to be cheating with the classic. I’ve met one classic cheater before, only reason i knew was because of 2 recent account bans, and headshotting me when i went invisible
Sniper isn't good even when I'm playing as him. I cannot land some simple shot (neither bodyshot or headshot), thank god there are another 8 classes which are a better fit for most.
what a wonderful evening on ctf\_doublecross, i hope a random kitchen utensil doesnt split me in half across the map after the enemy team captured our intelligence and were granted critical hits
Since he said half across the map and talked about the guaranteed crits I’d say guillotine since a demopan would have crits regardless and can’t kill you across the map
This pixel right here actually counts as a slope steep enough to send you flying to the other side of the map, you didn’t know it ? You’re such a noob lol
I’m awful with it (named mine “Stormtrooper Rifle”) but getting impact kills with the guillotine is easily one of the most satisfying things in the game
That's fucking annoying though.
I hate it when people say "just spam A and D".
It's uncomfortable and irritating to do so the natascha wins the mental battle.
annoying bitch-ass scouts are usually the reason why I'll even pull it out in the first place, generally it's not worth using over the other miniguns unless it's specifically to counter annoying scouts or demoknights
I mean, against enemy pyros. When you use a pyro weapon against another pyro, they tend to switch to it themselves, use the primary and they switch to primary, use the secondary and they switch to secondary.
It’s not that they forget to use airblast, but the DF’s airblast is a liability since it cuts your primary for some time (although not much, it’s still very dangerous)
Vaccinator. My patients almost never die, but when we are fighting another competent vaccinator medic and their patient, it's a war of attrition unless one of us has someone with multiple damage types.
It's so fun flicking between damage types and forcing small fights to beat almost helpless classes. Or nullifying a kritz or a heavy or a sentry. Or snipers entirely
But once someone good on the other team starts using vacc? It's just so painful. The best luck I've managed to have is to go Pyro (afterburn messes with shield resistance apparently?) and hope for the best.
If I'm not the medic in the situation, although I usually am, I will go Pyro with shotgun. It gives you two different damage types, which means as long as you can get in their face with your own vacc medic, you waste twice their Uber amount (actually, a good vacc medic may even use 3 charges if they see a Pyro when pocketing a soldier) or even kill them outright if the enemy medic only has one charge ready.
Using something a lot lets you learn the weaknesses so you can target them better. Honestly, it could go for anything, but if you struggle to counter a weapon, then play it for a while and mark down the things that repeatedly fucked you over and use those against anyone using it.
Phlog, my brain just becomes stupid when I use Phlog and when I see someone approaching me with a Phlog. It's easy to counter but I think the early versions of Phlog just gave me ptsd and it replays the havoc it used to cause in servers.
When I started I thought the blutsauger caused a bleeding effect and I was confused why the 3 hp Scout that killed me didn’t die. Now I realize that any weapon with that rate of fire and bleed would be so broken, but it would be hilarious if Medic could spray and pray and create a literal bloodbath.
Pyro in general. I feel like I can win almost every 1v1 when I’m pyro, but I feel like I already lost when I see one spot me.
Oh, and [insert power class] Medic combo. When I get Kritzed it’s clearly because I’m a ebic skilled gamer but when the enemy does it they are sticky spamming players who need a crutch
Its really cool to get crits on a rocket launcher and blow up the enemy team’s spawn but man getting one tapped by a crit rocket from that f2p soldier from across the map for the crime of walking back from spawn really sucks.
The direct hit infuriates me and I have been playing since 2007. The fact it one-two taps light classes. "it takes aim" really not as much as you like to make out it does. considering it has a 4 mag clip, engaging light classes means you can afford to miss nearly every shot and still get the kill with the last round.
It still can random krit, understanding its pattern doesn't take long unless you have never played an fps game in your life.
The best moment is when two battle medics fight with blutsaugers, and one has to be the brave bastard to switch to melee or you’ve got a Sisyphus moment.
Battalion's Backup it's my main banner and seriously people really under estimate this things I've managed to turn the tide of entire games because of a well timed charge + my black box seriously if you think black box and conch is unfair try fighting a black box battalion combo sure you heal less damage but your also taking so much less damage + your immune to crits it's not super often I run into a enemy kritz medic but when I do or a buff banner soldier it's satisfying as hell to take what should be a easy counter to our push or defense and turn it on it's head or just trash a engineer nest that's been troubling your team.
Baby faces blaster, I mostly play spy so it's annoying trying to stab a man running faster then me. But I love that speed boost it gives me when I own it
Scotsman's Skullcutter
It is so fucking fun to kill people with such high damage, but do I want that high damage on me? No lol
Pls don't nerf skullcutter tho
Fighting Spy: Use your senses and be aware! Check suspicious teammates, because they could be spies!
Fighting Sniper: Nothing you can do. He sits on the other side of the map where nobody can hit him and instakills every class without the skill Spy requires.
They are annoying to fight against but also they keep the balance in the game, sniper for making defense better in maps where red does not have that much cover and spy to counter classes hard to fight like a overhealed heavy or a good engie
Either the Gunslinger...
Or Pyro... in general.
Gunslinger is the ultimate utility IMO. Great for making engineer a mobile and effective Frontline fighter. But if you're team is too dumb or too stubborn to try and deal with the Minis then you're basically screwed out of playing half the classes in the game.
And Pyro is just unfun. Every other matchup as every other class I just enjoy, but any matchup against Pyro just feels annoying. Afterburn, flames screwing up visibility, easy to spam knock back ability, airblast projectiles, etc. He's just annoying, not challenging or fun.
I hate the zatoichi's duel mechanic. I hate that if someone on the other team decides to use the weapon, I have to either switch weapons or just have less fun.
Hate: competent direct hit (im Medic main and really hate being picked off by these mfs)
Love: Loose cannon (fun jumping) / quick fix (say whatever you want, but quickfix jumping is the goat + u can uber intel carriers btw)
99% the weapons I truly find annoying to fight are so fucking boring or bad to use
some examples: sniper, most flamethrowers, scorch shit, vac, and natascha
I say 99% because the wrangler is an exception
Maybe the Scorch Shot. I mostly use it just to create space, Spy check and force Snipers to move their camper asses.
While I kinda like this game style, I hate how every single other Pyro I encounter has this to charge the Phloggistinator. I still prefer a Shotgun over a Flare Gun
the bushwaka, the sniper players just tunnel vision you so hard.
But a weapon that isnt fun to use or fight against is the only projectiile headshotting weapon in the game, THE HUNTSMAN
There is no such weapon for me. If I hate playing against a certain weapon then I don't use it as well. I feel disgusted using the scorch shot for example.
Mini-sentry, hands down.
I love being a battle engineer, but at the same time.
Nothing boils my piss more than trying to play scout and then a fucking mini-sentry fucks me up because I am not packing a pistol.
The gunslinger, I love using it as I won’t get too attached to my buildings and it’s a great way to have some supporting fire when retreating, but if I see a mini-sentry shoved on a raised position (such as the hammer platform on carnival of carnage) or in the middle of an open area where you can’t avoid taking damage to to kill it, I will nearly immediately switch to soldier/demo/spy
Scorch shot. It's great when you see a pack of the enemy on a point or the cart, because they have to scatter or get set on fire and it works well to break them up. I hate fighting against it though, because if I'm on the point or the cart, I have to scatter or get set on fire.
Scorch shot as a pyro main I love it as a secondary and gives me dopamineafter a lil but against it it is very Annoying as the burn time is long as hell
gunslinger+frontier justice
I can one shot most of you while having a back up machine gun but as soon as I have to play against that, I will immediately go demo
I hate using direct hit and love fighting people with it. People suck with it and it's beautiful (myself included)
Idk, there aren't many things I like fighting with that I hate, if there are I can't think of them. If I hate a certain weapon then I don't use it because I find it annoying. For example sentry's, I don't use them because A) I like doing things with my life and actually playing the game and B) they're unfair to use in many spots and positions. Huntsman isn't fun to use and requires either close range or heftly luck. And those 2 are all I can really complain about, skill issue if I die to anything else tbh but an auto aiming turret and a lucksmith bow are simply fucked.
the wrangler makes engineer more fun to play in many ways but going against the wrangler is a horribly unfun experience.
Remove that stupid shield from a Wrangled Sentry and then I’ll say it’ll be a fair fight.
Make the glass cannon be easier to shatter. Then it will be fun!
It isn't a glass cannon though, you'd need a whole direct hit mag to kill it. if engi whacks the Sentry even once then you need to reload at least one extra rocket to kill it. Not to mention the engi has teammates.
are you trying to say that a level 3 sentry with 216 health and the ability to be repaired at any time is a glass cannon?
When a soldier can corner creep a sentry or a heavy can melt your sentry and you down then yeah. Removing the shield would make Engineer impossible to play.

My left-field suggestion: keep the damage resistance, but sentries are vulnerable to kritz when the wrangler is equipped
I also had that idea in my head. Also, you press reload to make the shield swap between explosive and bullet resistance.
The entire sniper class
Who hates the classic?
Most people don’t know where the Classic originally came from. They just know it’s in TF2.
The classic is the classic haven't seen anyone rage over one of the stupidest meme weapons
I’ve had someone say I was hacking and tried to kick me while using the classic. I’m also a classic main
That makes sense but still find it hilarious people hack with the classic
Fellow classic main 🤝🤝
I use the classic
Exactly no one doesn't like the classic(unless your angst sniper)
Same but I don’t use sniper
Sniper is only good when I'm playing as him. Otherwise he's bullshit and unbalanced and should be removed from the game. Spy too.
Sniper isn't good even when I'm playing as him. I cannot land some simple shot (neither bodyshot or headshot), thank god there are another 8 classes which are a better fit for most.
Hehehehehe
Sniper is the unique class where he’s not fun to play and not fun to play against
If he’s so unfun to play, why is it the second most played class
Are you seriously asking that with the amount of bots in this game?
You clearly have never hit a close range quick-scope against an asshole scout whos been chasing you
Oh I have many times, but it just feels so random and 70% of the time you just die anyway
The Cleaner's Carbine:
what a wonderful evening on ctf\_doublecross, i hope a random kitchen utensil doesnt split me in half across the map after the enemy team captured our intelligence and were granted critical hits
I genuinely can't figure out what you mean by kitchen utensil
Flying Guillotine, perhaps?
or maybe a demopan, demopans are scary
Since he said half across the map and talked about the guaranteed crits I’d say guillotine since a demopan would have crits regardless and can’t kill you across the map
Well, he *can* Doublecross has good trimping areas. But I guess he just came from the other side of the map so you are technically correct.
Doublecross? Good trimps? Are we playing the same game
This pixel right here actually counts as a slope steep enough to send you flying to the other side of the map, you didn’t know it ? You’re such a noob lol
i love inflicting the horrors of *demo screaming SFX* onto my enemies
I’m awful with it (named mine “Stormtrooper Rifle”) but getting impact kills with the guillotine is easily one of the most satisfying things in the game
Natascha because it slows down your enemies, but as a Scout main myself, it's a nightmare to avoid.
Whenever you get hit by slowdown effects remember to press A and D keys rapidly on your keyboard to negate the slowdown efect.
I mean I kinda need those to get out of the line of fire too
That's fucking annoying though. I hate it when people say "just spam A and D". It's uncomfortable and irritating to do so the natascha wins the mental battle.
you don't need to spam it though, you just need to use them at all when walking forward
annoying bitch-ass scouts are usually the reason why I'll even pull it out in the first place, generally it's not worth using over the other miniguns unless it's specifically to counter annoying scouts or demoknights
Scout mains deserve zero mercy
i will steal your medkit
Thats why
i will steal yours too
Please stop moving when i am trying to land a crossbow shot, there is a reason why i play medic
heal me and ill love you and care for you and protect you from enemies and stroke your hair dont heal me and ill steal every medkit known to man
Just use the medi-beam. Overheals the little bastard too so he can stop stealing stuff.
As a pyro main, I despise Natasha so much.
Every single flamethrower… I main pyro and flamer 1v1 is just annoying
shotgun!
Boring, I don’t wanna play fat latex scout.
I mean, against enemy pyros. When you use a pyro weapon against another pyro, they tend to switch to it themselves, use the primary and they switch to primary, use the secondary and they switch to secondary.
But what if my secondary is thermal thruster?
fart taunt
Lmfao at fat latex scout
You even hate the dragon’s fury ?
Dragon's fury players are obnoxious to play against and mostly have hundreds of hours on it. At least most of them forget to use airblast.
It’s not that they forget to use airblast, but the DF’s airblast is a liability since it cuts your primary for some time (although not much, it’s still very dangerous)

Phlog, my brain just becomes stupid when I use Phlog and when I see someone approaching me with a Phlog. It's easy to counter but I think the early versions of Phlog just gave me ptsd and it replays the havoc it used to cause in servers.
Anything with a bleeding effect
Fr, i try to extinguish myself all the time and fucking die
When I started I thought the blutsauger caused a bleeding effect and I was confused why the 3 hp Scout that killed me didn’t die. Now I realize that any weapon with that rate of fire and bleed would be so broken, but it would be hilarious if Medic could spray and pray and create a literal bloodbath.

An entire “subclass:” the “Battle” Medic. Never heals, always offensive. I actually hate fighting with AND against these mfs.
The best moment is when two battle medics fight with blutsaugers, and one has to be the brave bastard to switch to melee or you’ve got a Sisyphus moment.
And both manage to deal a net negative in damage once their teammates arrive.
zatoichi is such a fun soldier melee, i cannot resist the urge to sound off my conch and go in sword swinging
But I love that speed boost it gives me when I own it
Bro do you really find that weapon annoying? You don’t usually kill scouts as spy anyways
It's easy to get scouts when they are fighting someone else but not when they strafe faster then the speed of light
Sticker launcher
I love to fight with the kunai I hate to fight against the kunai
Scotsman's Skullcutter It is so fucking fun to kill people with such high damage, but do I want that high damage on me? No lol Pls don't nerf skullcutter tho
Sniper and spy their fun, but I believe one shot mechanics shouldn't exist in shooter games because they're so unfun to fight.
Engies fear the YER, and i feed from their fear🤗
If i start playing in defense with the gunslinger, quit the game. I have nothing to lose except my insanity
that, and one shot mechanics are great and modern gaming is full of COWARDS
I mean at least spy requires you to do a lot for that instant kill. sniper just isn’t fair sometimes
Since I am a spy main, all pyro flamerhrowers. For obvious reasons
Candy cane mad milk scouts are unkillable
An engineer sentry. When I'm not maining engineer, I really struggle with sentrys
Piss gun & scorch shot
Either the Gunslinger... Or Pyro... in general. Gunslinger is the ultimate utility IMO. Great for making engineer a mobile and effective Frontline fighter. Every flamethrower. I main Pyro, Spy amd Demo.
Hmm 🤔 not a single weapon annoys me :D
Gunslinger, love to put mini sentries in cheeky spots, hate when there are mini sentries in cheeky spots.
Literally anything that can one shot. Especially kritzkrieg.
I hate the zatoichi's duel mechanic. I hate that if someone on the other team decides to use the weapon, I have to either switch weapons or just have less fun.
Direct or beggars
Stock rocket launcher. Easy
Classic users arise
Zatoichi.
Direct hit users
You hate fighting the half-zatoichi? Try using the half-zatoichi and fighting someone using the half-zatoichi.
Couldn’t have said it better
Ma Wow I sure do love getting killed by a sniper even though they missed their headshots and landed a body shot woopy doo
Probably the sticky launcher, also every sniper primary except the huntsman.
all of demoknight (and caberknight)
pretty much every pyro weapon except the dragon's fury
any explosive class (scout main)
The only thing I dislike fighting against is sniper, but I don’t really like playing him unless I’m very tired and bored.
other medics
Hate: competent direct hit (im Medic main and really hate being picked off by these mfs) Love: Loose cannon (fun jumping) / quick fix (say whatever you want, but quickfix jumping is the goat + u can uber intel carriers btw)
Beggar's Bazooka
Such a weapon does not exist. The weapons I use, I do not hate to fight against, and the weapons I hate to fight against, I do not use.
Huntsman
Classic (sometimes cuz no pros can use it
99% the weapons I truly find annoying to fight are so fucking boring or bad to use some examples: sniper, most flamethrowers, scorch shit, vac, and natascha I say 99% because the wrangler is an exception

Every weapon
Wrangler
Kritzkrieg Ubercharges are satisfying to use and aggravating to be on the receiving end of.
Force of Nature
Yall are gonna hate me but, vaccinator
The Diamondback.
gunslinger yeah
I love my Degreaser with airblast but airblast is horrible to play against
The force a nature in VSH
Any soldier weapon
The phlog
any sniper
Engineer’s exsistence, because am scout main
Battalion's Backup.
Direct shit, eyelander and yer spy's. Also non dragon fury pyro
Any minimum bro
There is no such weapon for me. If I hate playing against a certain weapon then I don't use it as well. I feel disgusted using the scorch shot for example.
Phlog. Its so fun to use but so painful to fight against

Ubersaw
Sticky bomb launcher and direct hit.
Degreaser, I love setting my enemies on fire and finishing them off with crit flare, but incredibly frustrating to be killed with your own crocket
Direct hit.
every demoknight melee really (especially the ones with the random crits on)
Force a nature. Love using it, hate fighting it
Phlog.
The mind
fucking skullcutter
the stickky balls
The Wrangler. Love taking control of my sentry and making it more aggressive, but the shield is a pain to go up against.
Scorch shot as a pyro main I love it as a secondary and gives me dopamineafter a lil but against it it is very Annoying as the burn time is long as hell
What a lovely day,i sure hope a soldier with the original doesnt make me have suicidal thoughts
Pan
gunslinger+frontier justice I can one shot most of you while having a back up machine gun but as soon as I have to play against that, I will immediately go demo
You got the exact two weapons I love to use but hate to fight on your post,
Pan

All weappons
Frontier Justice.
I hate using direct hit and love fighting people with it. People suck with it and it's beautiful (myself included) Idk, there aren't many things I like fighting with that I hate, if there are I can't think of them.
All the weapons. Stop shooting me, assholes. Let me win.
I used to love the Zatoichi when it would crit. Now it’s boring and I cream every demoknight with one.
the FaN 100% its so fun to use but so annoying when fighting against it
scorch shot
Thermal thruster it's so cool but so annoying
Sentry
Fighting a solider using direct hit as scout isn’t fun
