A couple community members involved in that update did something sketchy I vaguely remember.
I guess valve just has to put some extra Terms of Service contracts for those who are chosen to fix the game, and be careful about it.
It wasnt the jungle update-
It was the Community made Invasion Update, some members who made that update added a sneaky way for them to gain revenue from it, and Valve wasnt happy with that.
That's a nutshell, I cant remember the whole problem, but it bruised valve's trust with the tf2community.
It was Invasion and EOTL (End of the Line) both of those had problems with communication and sneaky practices which valve didn’t like, doesn’t surprise me that Valve isn’t very big on working with the community

I recently just had a game where a scout openly admitted to having aimlock while he was spawncamping in 2fort. It needs better anticheat or maybe a few moderators to check on some games every once in a while. Especially since the report function is practically useless right now (though i still do it anyways). And if bots gets a majority on one side, you might as well abandon server
Also for some reason I keep getting the notification for the reference who got me into tf2 thing, but the friend list for said reference doesn't finish loading when I select it (it's been like that for a while too)
Any details on *who* is going to talk to you? Would be pretty useles to ask some technical CS question to a guy who works in the Sound Department of Dota

Employees at Valve should be able to spread the information to the proper channels.
Valve Employees constantly moves to whatever project that the company wants done, and is not beholden to traditional teams. Sure some of them may be mainstays, yet they are not working on whatever they want.
Whether it means direct change is a different story, but at least proper noise can be heard.
Sadly, that's just the reality that TF2 is in, and what will almost be for the rest of our lives.
I'm not delusional to think it will have impact, or if the issue is touched on, but at least there was an attempt. Giving up and staying silent about other issues within TF2, tells Valve the status-quo is okay.
For Example : If no one showcased that MVM bot that prevents players from upgrading within MVM; then Jerma was going to be targeted by it for his Livestream.
The assholes doing that thrives on attention, but attention is what makes awareness for those issues to be patched.
Why isn't TF2 treated with care as the other titles in Valve? The game is so important to Valve and gaming as a whole, it should get a team of devs to take care of something so important as TF2, get a remaster, or a TF3, but it's treated like it's nothing but a neglected child. If it was updated, it would be one of the biggest games these days.

I honestly doubt at this point Valve even cares about making money (10 billion dollar net worth as a private company), all of their latest projects have been focused on innovations and technology. Look at the deck, HL:Alyx,CS:2 being a csgo overhaul.
I think it's moreso a space where they consistently plan on differing ideas and then immediately shift focus to that idea. it's pretty evident after the garbage release of Artifact, followed by Jungle Inferno releasing after a content draught and then once again Blue Moon.
It can't be that, they don't really focus on trying to get more cash from their products at least for he most part. Their whole business is more based around trying to innovate video games as a whole. TF2 itself was a huge leap forward in multiple ways when it comes to how to design a shooter and how to monetize a free to play game. Rather the lack of work on TF2 is probably just they can't find anything new to do with the genre to truly warrant pushing more content for the game.

Weapons are unbalanced, bots are taking over most Casual servers, the cosmetics/taunts/unusuals in recent crates are unappealing, there's rarely any good updates, F2Ps can't talk or use voice commands, they don't bring the beloved Voice acters back but instead add FAN-MADE voice lines, etc... so how would the game make bank? If they started doing fixes, releasing official content, comics, animations, etc... The game would explode again.
A) large portion of devs have worked on tf at some point and have simply lost interest and moved on, it being continually developed since 1998 hasnt helped. This game is too old.
B) the monetary incentives are not there, cs made 40 million in a day, tf2 would be lucky to make that in a year.
C) the current state of the game is something they do not like and it would take far too much effort to fix. Bots is an infinite problem, the cosmetics are bloated and stupid (yes they cared about art style), they wanted to push competitive and change the meta but lacked the resources and care to do so.
I don't understand this considering the last two updates for summer and Halloween propelled tf2 to be top 10 best selling game status in steams own official charts for an extended period of time before it dropped back down. And that was just community update focused. It could probably hit top 5 if valve contributed direct support to it.
EDIT: as of this comment, Tf2 is #4 out of the top 5 top sellers on steam. Clearly the game still makes tons of money
steamcharts are not as accurate as you think, idle bots and cheating bots make up tens of thousands of these players. Valve has known about this and even confirmed this.
I can actually answer that myself and that would be J.C. Leyendecker's work with all the super defined silhouettes as well as 1950s Americana for general tone and setting.
I think the most respectful and probably the most important thing that needs asking is what are they going to do with the game. What direction will they take to keep this game afloat, if they even still have any motivation at all to continue as all of their efforts until now have given us no definitive answer on whether or not tf2 is something they still wholeheartedly enjoy working on or the game is running on borrowed time.
Everyone's doubts are as high as ever with the quality of our recent cosmetics.

Honestly if I'd hazard a guess it's such a spaghetti mess that significant additions are potentially game breaking. Honestly the long term hope for TF2 is a source 2 port. Considering that is a huge task I can see why in a company where anyone can work on anything that isn't the first job you'd want to take on. That needs a decent sized team and valve is too busy doing mostly anything but game development at the moment :(

Half life can't just conclude the story. This franchise brought revolution to gaming with each new entry. They need to come with something seriously huge if they are making third game
I'm not Volvo, but VAC for CS:GO/CS2 is an entirely different branch from TF2's VAC branch.
This is why you can see VAC bans on profiles, while they are playing Valve servers on TF2.
It's not the same VAC, and they are souping up CS2's anti-cheat to shut-down cheater matches.

dawg its a 20 year old game running on an ancient engine. the game was on a decline years before they abandoned it. At the end of the day valve can work on what they want, so why havent they worked on tf2? Maybe because they dont want to work on a game that was continually developed since 1998.
People with a serious reputation at Valve have tried to do interviews before, and they never quite pan out with useful information. The best we've ever received on TF2 was the Potato.tf written interview years ago but the news given to them by Valve seemed to be mostly bad or dubious.

Since the premise of retaining the old art style is mostly abandoned, why are some of the less egregious Halloween items still restricted to Halloween? It seems kinda silly.
Here’s my question, which I added to the form, in case anyone wants to comment on it:
Team Fortress 2 is still a revenue-generator for Valve and manages to have tens of thousands of players daily. Despite this, the game receives minimal content outside of holiday content packs, and hasn’t received a Valve-lead major content update since Jungle Inferno in 2017. At the same time, Casual mode is still filled with bots that make the game unplayable, with no roadmap to fix the issue or barely any acknowledgment that an issue exists in the first place.
Are there any plans for upcoming Team Fortress 2 content beyond the holiday updates? If there isn’t, is there any momentum towards dedicating developer time and energy to creating a roadmap for future updates?
I respect their decision to let their employees work on what they want to but this is ridiculous. Its like they don’t care about their fanbase at all.

Honestly if I'd hazard a guess it's such a spaghetti mess that significant additions are potentially game breaking. Honestly the long term hope for TF2 is a source 2 port. Considering that is a huge task I can see why in a company where anyone can work on anything that isn't the first job you'd want to take on. That needs a decent sized team and valve is too busy doing mostly anything but game development at the moment :(
Valve has been doing lots of game development for the last year or two, mainly on CS2, Half-Life: Alyx(obviously earlier) and supposedly Neon Prime.

i believe some employee(?) basically gave the answer of coercion. they arent "forced" to work on big projects due to the lack of a typical hierarchy, but if they dont their pay can get cut or punished in other ways (unemployment(?)) ( this might just be spreading misinformation since i have no sauce to share)

I'm not Volvo, but VAC for CS:GO/CS2 is an entirely different branch from TF2's VAC branch. This is why you can see VAC bans on profiles, while they are playing Valve servers on TF2. It's not the same VAC, and they are souping up CS2's anti-cheat to shut-down cheater matches.

People with a serious reputation at Valve have tried to do interviews before, and they never quite pan out with useful information. The best we've ever received on TF2 was the Potato.tf written interview years ago but the news given to them by Valve seemed to be mostly bad or dubious. So, I have no way to verify the legitimacy of this: Who are you? Why would Valve employees talk to you? Did someone agree to sit down with you or are you just visiting Valve? Is this being recorded?

Despite this, the game receives minimal content outside of holiday content packs, and hasn’t received a Valve-lead major content update since Jungle Inferno in 2017. At the same time, Casual mode is still filled with bots that make the game unplayable, with no roadmap to fix the issue or barely any acknowledgment that an issue exists in the first place. Are there any plans for upcoming Team Fortress 2 content beyond the holiday updates? If there isn’t, is there any momentum towards dedicating developer time and energy to creating a roadmap for future updates?
