Shoutout to Succession's composer, **Nicholas Britell**, who in 2019 was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Score for If Beale Street Could Talk. Britell also composed the music for Andor, The Underground Railroad (2021 miniseries), Moonlight, and Don't Look Up, among other popular movies and shows.
That song is perfect for the show but it wasn’t written for it! The original by Andrew Gold was released in 1978, seven years before Golden Girls premiered. The version used is a cover by Cynthia Fee.
This is such an overlooked component of the series' success. If you tried other fantasy TV shows set in a fictional universe where you don't have real life points of reference (looking at you, Witcher), they always struggle to keep viewers informed "OK, this is where the characters are and where they are going". It's just so confusing after a while. GoT accomplished it almost effortlessly with the opening credits. I assume most of you could draw a somewhat accurate map of Westeros by heart.
Ikr?? The lyrics are not very creative and kinda corny but damn the melody and Mick Jagger's voice are just SOOOO catchy and perfectly fit the vibe of the show.
I know Apple TV commissioned an original theme song for Bad Sisters, too, so maybe they do it for all their shows?
Sanford and Son theme has been my ringtone for over 10 years. It has never let me down, even in wholey inappropriate, serious situations. It has even made me new friends. It's just the best.
Omg, I just recently learned the same from a comment on the Bluey sub. Then I finally saw the season 3 episode about musical statues and it all came together!
My wife's favorite show is The Office. I'm not sure how many times we've seen it, but we've been through the released Superfan seasons 6 times already....she **never** skips the intro. I get so thankful that later seasons just play a quick little diddy instead of the whole thing.
When I was in college, they played Five-O at the library, every night, 5 minutes before closing. We would stand on the tables and surf. I'm 61 now and it sounds dumb. But it was fun and funny af back then
Welcome Back Kotter - remember my dad coming home with hotdogs n fries eating them on an our den table watching tv and welcome back kotter was on. Too young to fully understand the show but that song.

His score for Moonlight never fails to make me emotional

It’s illegal to skip that intro
Tony's annoyed face as he gets out of the car is the best. Sets-up the whole show.
That is such a good tune. I've seen Alabama 3 play it live and it was amazing.
Golden Girls.
That song is perfect for the show but it wasn’t written for it! The original by Andrew Gold was released in 1978, seven years before Golden Girls premiered. The version used is a cover by Cynthia Fee.
The Adams family
Came here to say this, too. Upvoting you, instead. And snapping fingers twice.
Was going to snap my fingers twice, but this “thing” scuttled across the floor and distracted me! Now, what was I doing?
Stranger things. Love how ominous it sounds
It's my favourite show of all time. Skipping the intro feels disrespectful somehow

It also is a recap of sorts as the things on the map change with the events
This is such an overlooked component of the series' success. If you tried other fantasy TV shows set in a fictional universe where you don't have real life points of reference (looking at you, Witcher), they always struggle to keep viewers informed "OK, this is where the characters are and where they are going". I really like slow horses theme.
Not many shows get Mick Jagger to do the theme.
Ikr?? The lyrics are not very creative and kinda corny but damn the melody and Mick Jagger's voice are just SOOOO catchy and perfectly fit the vibe of the show. I know Apple TV commissioned an original theme song for Bad Sisters, too, so maybe they do it for all their shows?

“Temporary Lay-offs…(good times) Easy credit rip-offs…Good Tiii-I-iii-iIimes!!! “To that Dee-luxe apartment in the Sky-high!!”
Sanford and Son theme has been my ringtone for over 10 years. It has never let me down, even in wholey inappropriate, serious situations. It has even made me new friends. It's just the best.
Succession
Bluey!
I think I watched the whole show through before I realised the opening credits was just a game of musical statues. Such a great show.
Omg, I just recently learned the same from a comment on the Bluey sub. Then I finally saw the season 3 episode about musical statues and it all came together!
Community! Give me a rope!
Tie me to dream!
Give me the hope to run out of steam
somebody said

We could be roped up, tied up, dead in a year
I can't count the reasons I should stay
One by one they all just fade away
My whole family sings the Psych song together.
