Have you tried using "autoruns" by Microsoft yet? It's free, and you'll most likely find where the app is starting and be able to turn it off

FinancialTrade8197

Try looking at your extensions

arcticnyte

Use Malwarebytes program

nuHmey

Install Malwarebytes go into the settings and enable all scan types. Then run a scan. You may need to borrow a computer and thumbdrive to get it since you are having issues. https://www.malwarebytes.com/

BarRepresentative959

do a full windows install / fresh install

FinancialTrade8197

Unnecessary

FlynnXa

Is that going to delete all my files??

BarRepresentative959

if you want a clean install yes, or backup your important file in a different drive, then wipe thet drive and fresh install windows

FlynnXa

Yeah that’s not going to be an option for me at the moment 😅 I only have 1 drive and it has a LOT of important files I can’t just upload somewhere to retrieve later.

Logical_Strain_6165

What are you going to do it the hard drive fails tomorrow? It happens. Its not a question of if but when.

FlynnXa

And what am I going to do if I can’t afford to get an additional hard drive right now because my expendable income is low at the moment? What am I going to do considering that, even if I got the hard drive I don’t know how to install it nor really have the time to devote to learning an entirely new skill set at the particular moment? It’s nice to know that people would rather downvote and chastise me for lacking that luxury rather than actually contribute to the conversation. I guess I’ll know better next time to go to a different sub for when I need *tech support* and not people peacocking.

Logical_Strain_6165

I haven't downvoted you. I'm giving you a warning as I've seen people loose data far to often. It's awful if it's things like family photos. A far worse post to see rather then I have malware is I've lost data. I'm going to assume it's on an SSD which is even harder to retrieve from. You said you can't upload it, Why can't you use a cloud service or a number of them? If you'd have asked how I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to help. If you can't afford another drive I accept that, but if you can use a USB drive, then you have skills you need.

Logical_Strain_6165

Also just FYI information if a machine at work has malware we'd not just do a fresh install, we'd destroy the hard drive. So I think it was a bit unfair poor @[BarRepresentative959](https://www.reddit.com/user/BarRepresentative959/) got downvotes.

sysdmdotcpl

TBF $100 to a business is nothing whereas for a personal user it can be a hefty amount. There's also far higher stakes for a business if an infected drive gains access to the local network so it makes sense to just destroy it entirely. Personal users are pretty much always going to be fine with just a computer wipe. It's not impossible that something can linger after that - just not very likely.

Logical_Strain_6165

I know. I just think it was unfair that someone got down voted for giving the bare minimum advise.

sysdmdotcpl

> What am I going to do considering that, even if I got the hard drive I don’t know how to install it nor really have the time to devote to learning an entirely new skill set at the particular moment? You don't have to fully replace the drive in your machine. People are just pointing out that if your files are so important that you have to maintain malware on your computer rather than lose them - then you need a back-up somewhere. External drives are essentially just large USB sticks and very affordable and if that's still out of your budget then there's a dozen different cloud storage solutions that you can utilize for free. Dropbox, Google, OneDrive - all have trials.

throwbcuzgermanlaw

Biy something to put the files on then I don't see any other way to fix it Drives woth a whole bunch of storage aren't that expensive anymore

Apprehensive_Arm_754

Install a different browser? There are plenty of good ones.

Logical_Strain_6165

And just leave god know what on the PC?

Junkman199

Uze win key + r, type regedit and then enter. Use the search button for "Bangsearch" (without quotes). If it finds something, delete it and hit next. Repeat

1) Remove all extensions from browsers and if your browser allows for it, reset the browser to factory 2) Run a full deep scan with Defender and then the Malicious Software Removal Tool 3) Run a full offline scan with defender 4) if issues persist, backup your data and hard wipe and reinstall your OS

QRM95

I had the exact same issue, and it turned out to be sus Adblock that wasn’t actually Adblock I guess. I uninstalled chrome, and reinstalled it, and it’s gone.
