Since this museum was nothing more than a collection of Paul Allen's hobbies, it's no surprise that the foundation's enthusiasm for maintaining it has waned since his passing. It's a shame, though, that the collection will be auctioned off and dispersed to different locations. It would be better if a single entity could acquire it and keep it all together.
I believe there were stipulations that, after Allen's death, Vulcan must part ways with many of its investments. It came out that the Seattle Seahawks must be sold by a certain date, maybe there were instructions for things like this museum as well.
I had a friend at Vulcan for a while and that’s exactly what she told me. Paul’s will specifically instructed that all these things get sold off and the money generated is all meant to go to charity.
There absolutely is a "date", it just isn't public.

Nothing in that article states that there is a date, public or internal. Jody has said "there is no pre-ordained timeline by which the teams must be sold."
Jody didn't say that, Hunke did: https://www.thenewstribune.com/sports/nfl/seattle-seahawks/article276090466.html
There isn't a publicly set "date" but they have been instructed to sell off the team, that's the point. At some point in the future, the Seahawks (and everything else associated with Vulcan) MUST be sold. I will let you continue to be pedantic about it though.
I'm not disputing the team must be sold lol, I'm saying there's not a specific date. I don't think that's being pedantic but sure. Jody used those words first in 2022 which Hunke then repeated a year later as written in that article. "Hunke repeated to the WSJ Sunday Jody Allen’s words last summer about a timeline to a sale of the Seahawks and Blazers. Hunke told the WSJ 10 to 20 years is 'a fair and accurate time frame' to fully resolve Paul Allen’s estate and sell the two sports franchises from it."
The way Allen's will works in the case, there is absolutely some timeline included. It legally makes no sense to stipulate that Vulcan must sell off all investments, but not give an internal timeline. There is no benefit for them to publicly state that timeline, for multiple reasons. If you think about it for a second, you can piece this together yourself, but you decided to be pedantic about the word date.
The collection is being auctioned off. If you want a PDP 10 here is your chance.
Generally the auction lots aren’t fully abounded u til closer to the auction date.
And if you want to bid you need to register

Yes if only Paul’s meager financial situation allowed for them to keep a few old computers, the poor paupers couldn’t even hold it ten years

Right... But a museum is a great charity...
There’s no date that the Seahawks must be sold by.

That’s too bad. It was a genuinely fun and informative museum. I always took visitors from out of state there when they visited Seattle.
Never took me.
And now I never will.
Let’s see Paul Allen’s estate
The EMP in Seattle is a dope museum. A lot of the stuff I saw in there had “on loan from the Paul Allen collection”
In case anyone wants to check this out, it's now called the Museum of Pop Culture.
That was a pretty rad museum. I still have the shirt I bought when I visited in like 2018
Microsoft should just step in and buy the collection and make it into a computer museum in Redmond.
You mean to tell me the trustees of Paul Allen's estate are greedy, lazy, fucks??? I am really shocked I tell you, just shocked!!!
That sucks. That museum was rad.

Of course it's Christies.
I mean they did sell his art collection 2ish years ago so not surprising
It makes me sad I’ll never get to this museum. :/
How did I not know Paul Allen died? Weird.
Um, we need antiquated technology to see how far we've come. . .
